‘As'phekeleni umyeni wami' sensational cook, Mbali Skosana shares details of abusive marriage

News2423-05-2025

We watched her cook and love her husband loudly and proudly but the reality behind closed doors was far from ideal.
The saying 'not all that glitters is gold,' couldn't be truer, mostly when it comes to online relationships.

Mbali Skosana, a well-loved personality and content creator, first gained widespread recognition through her cooking videos that captivated viewers with her warm, inviting content and delicious recipes.
Her iconic intro, 'As'phekeleni umyeni wami,' quickly became a catchphrase among her fans, and over time, she developed a devoted following who admired her authenticity and the love she so openly shared with her ex-husband.

However, behind the scenes of this seemingly perfect life, cracks began to form. Reports emerged online of her husband's alleged infidelity and desire to practice polygamy, known as 'isithembu' in some cultures.
Things took a dramatic turn when Mbali made a statement confirming that they had separated, signalling the end of their marriage, only to later retract the statement in a live TikTok video, leaving many to believe that they had reconciled and mended their relationship and would continue forward together.

Unfortunately, the storm was far from over. Recently, an even darker chapter in her journey has unfolded as a disturbing video surfaced showing Mbali being assaulted by her ex-husband's girlfriend, sparking widespread outrage and concern. In the circulating video, Mbali can be seen lying on the floor asking for forgiveness, claiming that the perpetrator is hurting her while she was pressing what can be identified as her thigh on-top of Mbali in an effort to detain her from running away, all this whilst interrogating her with questions.
In the aftermath of this incident, Mbali took to her YouTube channel to address the issue and share a harrowing revelation; she alleged that she had been a victim of abuse in the later stages of her marriage.
In the deeply emotional 24 minutes and 26 seconds duration YouTube video, Mbali addresses how what began as a relationship built on love and shared dreams came down to navigating a tumultuous marriage which ended in tears and heartache, leaving behind painful echoes of betrayal as her ex-husband turned to being physical with her in an effort to forcefully make her accept his decision for a polygamous marriage.

In the YouTube video Mbali attached the trending assault video and explained reasons for doing so are not to taint the woman in question's image but rather to plead with the public, especially women, as she's seen many of them since the circulation of the video bashing her for enduring that situation. She further states that she has attached the video to break her silence as she's been too quiet about this issue and believes the internet will eventually find out in bits and pieces when she had long moved on from the saga, therefore it's best to talk about it now.
'I got threatened by that video to the point that we went to court, because I was trying to protect my image as I knew if you guys would see it people would judge me. I tried not to expose the girl's name, and if I was someone else, I'd name and shame but because I understand she's a woman and a mother with kids, I don't want her kids to see her differently than who they know now all because of a man,' Mbali cried.
Mbali further says what breaks her heart mostly about the video is that her ex-husband stood and did nothing as his girlfriend demeaned her in the most distasteful way and instead, he took her side.
'I didn't have that video, as it was them shooting it. But what hurts mostly with it is the fact that, the man who paid lobola for me was literally standing there and I said sorry, but his response was 'sorry for what?' Mbali breaks down.
Mbali concluded the video stating that she's been to counselling sessions and will still attend until she doesn't get triggered by the issue anymore, Moreover, she also pleaded that people refrain commenting about her past on her work videos on Instagram as they are ruining her brand.

Trump Adviser Urges Immigration Investigation Into Elon Musk's Past as "Illegal Alien"

As Elon Musk and Donald Trump's bromance experiences a rapid but totally predictable disassembly, Musk's archnemesis Steve Bannon is calling on the president to investigate the world's richest man's dubious immigration history. "They should initiate a formal investigation of his immigration status, because I am of the strong belief that he is an illegal alien, and he should be deported from the country immediately," Bannon told the New York Times on Thursday. He also declared that Musk should be investigated for his alleged drug habit. Bannon was a former chief strategist to Trump. He no longer holds the role in an official capacity, but remains an informal adviser and an influential voice on the American far right. Musk and Trump traded blows on their respective personal social media playgrounds this week, not long after Musk suddenly announced that his time as a "special government employee" was over. Once out of the White House, it didn't take long for things to escalate from Musk blasting the president's newly proposed spending bill, to Trump threatening to cancel Elon's billions of dollars worth of government contracts, to Musk clapping back by saying he'd cut off NASA's invaluable access to his spacecraft. Musk also really went off the rails by shouting from the rooftops of X that Trump is in the unreleased Epstein files, and then agreeing that the president should be impeached. We can only imagine the pure schadenfreude bliss that Bannon must be experiencing right now. He's made no secret of his contempt for Musk, who he's previously called a "toddler," and "not tough enough," and a "parasitic illegal alien." Some of that is probably his jealousy speaking: Musk had replaced Bannon as the president's golden boy, a role he lost when Trump kicked Bannon kicked to the curb for stealing the limelight during his first term in office. Bannon, an alleged white supremacist, has always been skeptical of Musk's sudden realignment with the MAGA movement, and has constantly chided the Silicon-Valley-liberal turned Texas-based-technocrat for not being conservative — or racist — enough. So you can bet he's making the most of Musk's downfall, capitalizing on his dubious personal immigration history. Despite his constant slandering of immigrants, the South Africa-born businessman was likely at one point an "illegal" immigrant too, overstaying on a student visa even though he'd dropped out of school to work on his startup. His brother, Kimbal, has admitted to both of them working illegally. Bannon, on top of calling for Musk's deportation, has recommended nationalizing Musk's businesses, too. "President Trump tonight should sign an executive order calling for the Defense Production Act to be called and seize SpaceX tonight before midnight," Bannon said Thursday on an episode of his War Room podcast, as quoted by the Daily Beast. But he faces a fearsome keyboard warrior in Musk, who retaliated in a slur-bedazzled tweet: "Bannon is peak r*tard." Then he doubled down, clarifying that Bannon was, in fact, a "communist r*tard." There's clearly no love being lost between the two. Trump, for his part, is doing his best Don Draper impression. "I'm not even thinking about Elon. He's got a problem. The poor guy's got a problem," he said Friday, per CNN. More on Elon Musk: Elon Musk Declares That He's "Immediately" Cutting Off NASA's Access to Space

Owner Leaves Dog Alone With Relaxing Music—Unprepared for What Petcam Shows

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A viral video of an American XL bully named Ragnar has warmed the hearts of viewers on TikTok—thanks to his hilariously chill reaction to some relaxing tunes. The video, which was posted to Instagram by the pet's owners on June 4, shows Ragnar fully sprawled out on his dog bed, front legs extended and head buried contently on the cushion, exuding total peace. An overlaid text on the video added more context: "Left my dog home alone with relaxing music… This is what I saw when I checked the camera… I think it worked." The caption read: "10/10 would recommend dog relaxing music!" There is some science behind the lighthearted post, because music—particularly classical music—is proven to have a soothing effect on dogs. Research by the Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and the University of Glasgow found that classical music can reduce stress levels in canines a significant amount. In the 2015 study, researchers observed dogs in a shelter and found a notable decrease in stress behaviors, such as barking and pacing, when classical music was played around them. The American Kennel Club also recommends soft classical or reggae music for dogs who suffer from separation anxiety, noting that the rhythm and tempo help promote a sense of stability and security. Since it was posted, the video from @ragnarthebullyxl has racked up over 400,000 likes and more than 1.4 million views on the platform. The comments section is flooded with users expressing laughter and amazement at the canine's tranquil state, with one commenter writing, "Dude's sleeping like he pays the bills." "'Pit bulls are mean' literally pit bulls:" Another viewer said. "Now I feel better for leaving my dog relaxing music," another added. "OMG I do this for my dog everyday when I'm out and she is always dead asleep," a third viewer shared. "Him sleeping like that while [you are] at work paying for that TV to stay on so he can listen to his music," another said. "This is literally what my dog does if not he's watching Bluey and people get made I leave him alone trust me he's living his life," another added. Chicago's Boom2Funny talks inspiration behind comedy, teaching kids on content creation

Chicago native Johnta Richmond, also known online as Boom2Funny, has over one million social media followers and is a TikTok sensation. The West Side turned South Sider credits his real-life experience for the success of his videos. "It kinda came from a real-life ex who's always popping up everywhere I go after we broke up, and then she knew everything about me, she knew my whole family, she knew everything, so I'm like I'm going to put in my kinda portrayal," he said. He said he didn't think that the postings would explode the way it has. "The very first time I did it, I did not, but the numbers went up. I got a million in one day, and I was like 'oh, okay,' and then I did one at a graduation with a boy who never met me before, he didn't know what was going on, walked up and di the video, and that video did 14 million," he said. Richmond is not just making content but also teaching kids how to make content safely through a program called Social Impact. "It's here to teach the kids how to use the internet in a safe way. We have so many kids posting with each other and getting into it, fights and killing, so I decided to come in and teach them content creation," he said. He sees the art of teaching content creation as a benefit to young people in the city, as "the internet is the new TV." "Chicago is so creative," he said. I teach from first grade all the way to 12th grade, so I get so many personalities." As for his videos, being accurate is key. "If you get a chance, check out any of the videos. I try to make it as accurate as possible, relative. Everybody has some kind of boom in them," he said. His videos can be found on YouTube and TikTok.
