Ipswich must keep 'foot on gas' in title race
Ipswich Town boss Joe Sheehan has urged his team not to regard their superior goal difference as a buffer as they look to seal promotion to the Championship.Town are three points clear at the top of Women's National League Southern Premier with two games to play and their goal difference of plus 60 is 27 better than rivals Hashtag United.Sheehan's side were beaten 1-0 at Watford last weekend, only their second league defeat of the campaign, but travel to bottom club MK Dons on Sunday - a team that have only managed one point from 20 games and let in 106 goals."With the goal difference, we probably need to win one more game and we don't circle what game we think that's going to happen (in)," he told BBC Radio Suffolk."I don't think we're seeing a team at the moment that is conscious of the position and therefore hiding within themselves."
Hashtag are the only other team, apart from Watford, to beat Ipswich this term but they have the harder run-in - and only the champions will go up to the women's second tier for next season.Following the game at MK Dons, Town will be at home to eighth-placed Cheltenham Town on 27 April, while Hashtag must take on Exeter City and Oxford United in their final two matches, who are third and fifth."We've almost earned the opportunity to get beat but that doesn't give us any reason to be complacent or take our foot off the gas. We want to try and perform and win all of our games that we play," said Sheehan. "We will prepare to face the best possible version of MK Dons and I won't have anyone tell me their league position or how they've been getting on because our focus will be on giving them the respect they absolutely deserve. It's up to us to perform and do all we can to try and win that game."Without emphasising what might be at stake or what we're trying to do, it's just about preparing to try and be good on that day. Hopefully with that kind of process, the players are calm and prepared and consistent and our ability and preparation will shine through when it matters on game day."

Manning back in Norwich for 'success not niceties'
New Norwich City boss Liam Manning says he is back in the city to win, not for old boyhood Canaries fan has been speaking for the first time since being appointed as the Championship club's new boss last becomes the first Norwich-born head coach at Carrow Road, having led Bristol City to the play-offs last season."It'll help knowing the city, the history of the club and some of the fans and former players but the biggest driver was always the club, the ambition, the project and what we're trying to achieve," he told BBC Radio Norfolk."It's not coming back here for niceties, it's coming back to be successful." The 39-year-old former Norwich youth player also coached in Ipswich Town's academy before taking MK Dons to the League One play-offs in 2022 and had a brief spell at Oxford United who were second in the third tier when he left to join Bristol City."My first live match was here, my first season ticket was here and I've got some fond memories - it's such a fantastic city, fantastic fanbase, so if you can achieve here you can be remembered so we'll be doing everything we can to try to bring success to people," he admits leaving Ashton Gate was not the easiest decision having taken Bristol City to a sixth-placed finish but also with the support he was given following the death of his baby son Theo in October."Any move you make in this game is difficult so in terms of the 18 months I had there it was successful and obviously a challenging time personally which creates a a level of affiliation and empathy with the people there," he said."But when we had the discussions (at Norwich) of what it looks like and the direction - knowing the club and the fanbase and the ambition here, it matches with me extremely well so it was a difficult decision but I'm sure it's the right one."Norwich finished 13th in the Championship last season, 11 points short of the play-offs, and sacked head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup in April, leaving Manning to become the Norfolk club's fourth permanent boss in under four years."We're in the results business so we have to win and I want to win but to sustain winning it has to be underpinned by some really good practices and processes and a really strong culture," said the new boss."You go into the season wanting to finish in the top six, it's understanding how you do that - that's the end goal."He will immediately turn his attentions to building Norwich's squad for next season with speculation surrounding the futures of forwards Josh Sargent and Borja Sainz in particular, while they have been linked with Swansea's out-of-contract defender Harry Darling, who Manning worked with at MK Dons."I had a terrific time with Harry at MK Dons and he was outstanding - he's really excelled at the level and there isn't a huge amount of players at his age or his profile who are available," said Manning."He'll have large amount of interest but he's definitely someone for me who would be a good fit."

Love Island's Dejon Noel-Williams on why he didn't seek advice from famous pal
EXCLUSIVE: Dejon Noel-Williams is gearing up to enter the Love Island villa in 2025 - and he's set to follow in the footsteps of a former islander who he has a close bond with As Love Island 2025 gears up for its premiere on Monday, June 9, one contestant is already turning heads: 26-year-old Dejon Noel-Williams from London. A personal trainer and semi-professional footballer, Dejon who is the son of former Premier League striker Gifton Noel-Williams, the nepo baby, also is a close friend to a former islander. While you would think that being a friend of someone who made it to the final of the show would mean you get all the lowdown and ins and outs of the love island experience, this was not the case for Dejon. Dejon shares a close bond with Tyrique Hyde, a standout from Love Island 2023, who finished in third place alongside his then partner, Ella Thomas. Their friendship stems from their fathers' profession and shared experiences growing up. Interestingly, Dejon chose to keep his Love Island participation a secret from Tyrique. "Actually, I didn't tell Tyrique I was going in,' he beamed as we spoke. 'He's going to be surprised. I had to keep the whole thing secret - even when I saw him recently, I didn't say anything. So no advice from him!" Being the son of Gifton, who had a notable football career with clubs like Watford, Stoke City, and Burnley, Dejon has always had a strong role model. Gifton, now 45, transitioned into coaching after his playing days and remains a significant influence in Dejon's life. "My dad's like my best friend,' he says. 'He's always been honest with me - about everything, good and bad - and super supportive. When I played football, he was proud. When I became a trainer, same thing. He supported this too. He told me to just be myself and said the world will love me for who I am." This season, Love Island is lifting its five-year ban on airing intimate scenes, including those in the villa's producer Mike Spencer confirmed that such footage will be broadcast to keep the show "fresh and exciting" in its 10th year. Dejon approached the topic on whether he had spoke to his parents about the potential of having sex on TV, he quipped: "Yeah, we're honest like that. My dad just said he might have to turn off the TV if that happens." As the series airs Monday at 9pm, Dejon is '100% excited' to be heading in, but his path to the villa came with a twist - he didn't actually apply himself. 'Funny enough, I actually didn't sign up for the show—it was my sisters who did it for me,' Dejon revealed. The 26-year-old from London explained that his family had long pushed him to take the leap into reality TV. 'They've been saying for ages, 'You need to go on Love Island,' and I just kept brushing it off,' he said. After more than a year and a half of being single, his sisters decided to take matters into their own hands. And while Dejon may not have submitted his own application, he's now embracing the experience. 'I think they just want me to be back in a relationship,' he added. The former footballer also opened up about his last relationship, which lasted four years. 'Yeah, it is [a long time],' he admitted. 'We fell deeply in love during COVID. Things moved really fast—she moved in with me and we spent a lot of time together.' But like many relationships formed during the intense lockdown period, cracks eventually began to show. 'Over time, our goals and alignments changed. We just didn't match up anymore,' he said. Despite having a famous dad, Dejon has denied that he is a nepo baby as he enters the the villa. Dejon said: "Now that I've been called a nepo baby, I don't know how to react." He was also asked about his friendship with former Love Island star Tyrique Hyde. He said: "I've known him since we were kids, like babies. My dad and his dad played for the same team and they were best friends. As we got older, we had similar interests. We played for the same teams and we played against each other at football." Dejon is currently playing for Bedford Town and has previously played for Oxford United, Wealdstone, Guadalajara and the Grenada national team. The next series of Love Island is due to grace our screens on Monday for the 2025 series. A whole host of new singles have been chosen to go into the villa to try and find love while also navigating the twists and turns of the show. The series will be filmed in its usual Majorcan villa but it has been given a spruce up since last year. Love Island returns Monday, June 9 at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.

Glasgow Warriors miss out on URC final after loss against Leinster
Leinster will host next week's United Rugby Championship final at Croke Park after dishing out a 37-19 beating to last year's winners Glasgow Warriors. The Irish province, which had endured three straight URC semi-final defeats, regained their mojo to set up a Dublin decider against the Bulls or Sharks. Dan Sheehan started and finished the first half's try-scoring to give Leinster a 25-5 lead as Jamie Osborne and Tom Clarkson crossed at a rain-hit Aviva Stadium. Osborne and Ciaran Frawley made it six tries to one before closing scores from Jamie Dobie and Sione Tuipulotu added to George Horne's fourth-minute effort. The hosts hit the ground running with Jamison Gibson-Park pulling the trigger for Sheehan to raid over in the second minute. Glasgow swiftly cut the gap to 7-5 when Kyle Rowe's inviting kick infield was dotted down by Horne. Crossing from James Lowe denied Leinster a second try before Sam Prendergast slotted over a 21st-minute penalty. A Gibson-Park forward pass ruled out an Osborne score, but the young centre duly scored out wide from a slick Lowe offload. Leinster turned a scrum penalty into five more points when Clarkson rumbled over, and Sheehan's maul try came on the stroke of half-time. Despite Tom Jordan switching to fly-half for the Warriors, Leinster, aided by Ryan Baird's player-of-the-match performance, remained in full control. Following a penalty miss from Prendergast, who had a disappointing day with the boot, Gibson-Park clinically played in Osborne in the 53rd minute to make it 32-5. Replacement Frawley followed him over the line just four minutes later, with Lowe's initial aerial take igniting a sweeping move. Sprung from the Scots' bench, Dobie raced over in the 71st minute and Tuipulotu displayed his dancing feet with a superb solo try from the edge of Leinster's 22.
