Tesla Drivers Sue Elon Musk for Turning Their Cars Into "Extreme" Right-Wing Symbols

Yahoo13-06-2025
Tesla drivers in France are suing Elon Musk's EV maker for turning their vehicles into what they characterize as "extreme-right" symbols.
As news agency France 24 reports, the owners are demanding that their lease contracts be terminated and reimbursed for the accrued legal costs.
"Because of Elon Musk's actions... Tesla branded vehicles have become strong political symbols and now appear to be veritable extreme-right 'totems,'" said GKA, the law firm representing the owners, in a statement, "to the dismay of those who acquired them with the sole aim of possessing an innovative and ecological vehicle."
As a result, they are being prevented from "fully enjoying their car," the firm added.
The suit highlights how damaging Musk's well-documented embrace of far-right ideologies has been. The mercurial CEO made two Nazi salutes during an election event earlier this year, and has appeared via video link at German and Italian far right political rallies — actions that have thrown the carmaker into chaos and car buyers running the other way.
Musk's political realignment has proven immensely unpopular among consumers, causing sales of his carmaker to crater worldwide and leaving a massive dent in Tesla's finances.
New Tesla registrations in Europe dropped by a stunning 53 percent last month, indicating continued and widespread disillusionment and disgust with Musk's actions.
Meanwhile, frustrated owners have desperately been looking for ways to ditch their Teslas in light of a massive protest movement aimed at Musk's carmaker. Worse yet, resale values of the EVs have tanked as well, leaving owners between a rock and a hard place.
Some embarrassed drivers have resorted to slapping stickers that read "I bought this before Elon went crazy" on their bumpers.
The French clients who are now suing Elon Musk's carmaker argue Tesla owes them financially for all the drama and embarrassment.
"The situation is both unexpected and impossible for French Tesla owners," lawyer Patrick Klugman, who's representing them, told France 24.
"Musk's political positions have interrupted enjoyment" of their cars, he added, and "we believe that Mr Musk owes these buyers the peaceful possession of the thing sold."

Elizabeth Warren Says Elon Musk's SpaceX Is Paying Less Tax Than You But Getting 'Billions' From The Government: Trump And GOP 'Rigged' The Tax Code

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) has accused Elon Musk's SpaceX of benefiting from billions in U.S. government contracts while paying little to no federal taxes. Warren Accuses Musk Of Dodging Taxes On Monday, Warren took to X, formerly Twitter, and said that "Elon Musk's SpaceX is worth over $350 BILLION – after receiving billions in government contracts – but could be paying LESS in taxes than you." She blamed Donald Trump's tax reforms, saying Republicans "rigged the tax code with loopholes for billionaire corporations" and demanded "no more corporate handouts." Trending: The same firms that backed Uber, Venmo and eBay are investing in this pre-IPO company disrupting a $1.8T market — Her remarks followed a New York Times report that SpaceX has avoided paying federal income tax on about $5 billion in taxable income since its founding in 2002 by using a legal tax strategy known as a net operating loss carryforward. The provision, expanded indefinitely under Trump in 2017, lets companies offset future income with earlier losses. Musk Previously Defended Tesla's Tax Strategy Musk currently has a net worth of $375 billion, according to Bloomberg's Billionaire Index, making him the wealthiest individual on Earth. In February earlier this year, Musk and Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) VP of Finance Sendil Palani denied claims that Tesla evaded taxes, saying that the company legally carried forward past losses under IRS provisions. At the time, Musk acknowledged Tesla didn't pay U.S. federal income tax for several years, including 2024, since most profits come from overseas sales, but highlighted the need for comprehensive tax reform to address excessive Revenue Soars, Taxes Stay Low Documents reviewed by the publication show that more than 75% of SpaceX's revenue in 2020 and 2021 came from federal contracts. Despite that reliance on taxpayers, SpaceX paid only minimal taxes — including $483,000 to foreign governments and $78,000 in state taxes in 2021. SpaceX's business is also booming. Revenue is expected to reach $15.5 billion in 2025, double the $7.4 billion reported in 2023. Starlink, its satellite internet service, now generates more revenue than its rocket division, with 2.5 million users and $8 billion in 2023 sales. Warren Broadens Criticism Of Musk Warren has previously also targeted Musk over what she describes as conflicts of interest and misuse of government influence. In June, her office released a report titled "130 Days of Elon Musk," alleging more than 100 abuses of power during his time as a Trump administration adviser. She has also criticized the Pentagon for awarding Musk's AI startup xAI a $200 million contract just days after its chatbot Grok was caught making antisemitic remarks. Elon Musk reportedly eyeing JD Vance for 2028 as he hits the brakes on plans for a new political party

Elon Musk is reportedly putting the brakes on launching his new political party in order to maintain ties with prominent Republicans — especially Vice President JD Vance, who the billionaire is eyeing to back in 2028. Musk had vowed that his 'America Party' would challenge the two-party system, however, he told those close to him that he'd rather focus on his businesses than pull voters away from his Republican allies in Washington, the Wall Street Journal reported. The Tesla CEO is particularly keen on keeping ties with Vance, who is widely speculated to inherit the MAGA movement after President Trump completes his second term. 3 Elon Musk attends a news conference with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office of the White House, Friday, May 30, 2025, in Washington. AP Musk has told associates that forming the 'America Party' would damage that relationship, according to the paper. Musk, the richest man in the world, has expressed to those in his circle that he would financially back Vance if he made a run for the White House in 2028. He dumped nearly $300 million on Trump and other Republican campaigns in the 2024 elections, propelling Trump to a second presidential victory. Still, Musk hasn't completely ruled out moving forward with the new party and is waiting to see how the 2026 midterm elections shake out, the tech mogul's allies told the Journal. 3 Vice President JD Vance (C) exits the Oval Office in the opposite direction as President Trump and Musk (R) walk away before departing the White House on his way to his South Florida home in Mar-a-Lago in Florida on March 14, 2025. AP Musk first threatened to start a new political party last month during his public spat with Trump over his Big Beautiful Bill Act — which Musk called a 'disgusting abomination.' He initially proposed targeting '2 or 3 Senate Seats and 8 to 10 House districts' giving them just enough influence to impact key votes on controversial legislation. Musk, without commenting further on the Journal's report, posted on X, 'Nothing @WSJ says should ever be thought of as true.'

Authorities charge man suspected of planning attack in Germany, possibly targeting Israeli Embassy

BERLIN -- German prosecutors announced terrorism charges Wednesday against a man who they say may have planned to attack the Israeli Embassy in Berlin and intended to join the Islamic State group in Pakistan. The suspect, a Russian national identified only as Akhmad E. in line with German privacy rules, was arrested on Feb. 20 at the capital's airport as he prepared to board a flight. He has now been indicted on charges of supporting a foreign terrorist organization, attempted membership in such a group, and preparing a serious act of violence. Federal prosecutors said in a statement that the suspect initially planned to carry out an attack in Germany, possibly on the Israeli Embassy. He allegedly found instructions for making explosives on the internet but was unable to pursue the plan because he couldn't get a hold of the necessary components. At the same time, the suspect was allegedly translating propaganda into Russian and Chechen for IS. Prosecutors said he intended to join the group in Pakistan and get military training, and that he financed the trip by taking out two contracts for expensive smartphones, which he then sold. He allegedly sent a video declaring loyalty to the group to a suspected IS member outside of Germany shortly before his departure. The indictment was filed earlier this month to a court in Berlin, which will now have to decide whether to send the case to trial.
