Car catches fire in Bidadari area, no injuries reported
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to a fire in Bidadari Park Drive at 12.40pm. Images taken from social media show that it occurred next to a bus stop.
A compressed air foam jet used to extinguish the fire, said the SCDF, adding that there were no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A resident whose home faces the main road where the fire occurred told The Straits Times: "We could feel the heat from our house. Can't imagine what our first responders feel."
A Telegram group for residents of the Woodleigh Hillside estate had messages from residents complaining of a strong smell of gas in the air after the incident.
Others reported seeing thick, dark smoke in the area and advised one another to wear masks when heading out.
Video footage shared on Telegram shows a man standing near a red car as smoke emerges from under its front bonnet. Other videos show bright orange flames billowing from the car as SCDF officers approach it.
In a picture of the aftermath, the shell of the car appears entirely white, with its doors held shut with yellow tape.
This is the third report of a car being on fire in the past week. No injuries were reported in both prior incidents.

Large tree catches fire in Jurong West, investigations underway
A large tree in the Jurong West area caught fire on Aug 8, possibly sparked by efforts to clear a bee hive from the tree. Located at a grass patch near Block 329 Tah Ching Road, Shin Min Daily News reported that the blaze may have been caused by a pest control company which was clearing the bee hive shortly before the fire started. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Fong Seng Kuan (transliterated), 26, told Shin Min that he smelled smoke from his home and went downstairs to investigate after seeing the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) vehicles below. By the time he got there, firefighters were already spraying water on the tree, and the flames had been put out. A video posted on the Facebook group Singapore Incidents shows the fire burning intensely. One clip, taken after the fire was under control, shows small embers still glowing on the branches. In response to queries from The New Paper, SCDF confirmed that they were alerted to a fire near 329 Tah Ching Road, involving a tree, at 10.20pm on Aug 8. It was extinguished using a hosereel. "There were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation," said a SCDF spokesman. Editor's note: An earlier version of this story, which was based on a Shin Min Daily News report, misreported the location of the fire. It actually took place near Block 329 Tah Ching Road. The story has also been updated to include a statement from SCDF. We are sorry for the error.

Two people died and two were hospitalised following an attack before midnight on Sunday on the Tula region that borders the Moscow region to its north, Tula Governor Dmitry Milyaev said on the Telegram messaging app. One person was killed and two others were hospitalised following a Ukrainian attack targeting an industrial zone in the Nizhny Novgorod region in western Russia, Gleb Nikitin, the governor of the region, said on the Telegram. A Ukrainian security official told Reuters that Ukraine had targeted a Russian plant producing missile components in the Nizhny Novgorod region in the drone attack. At least four drones struck the Arzamas Instrument-Making Plant, which produces control systems and other components for Russia's Kh-32 and Kh-101 missiles, the official said. Russian air defence units destroyed a total of 59 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 12 over the Tula region, the Russian Defence Ministry said. The ministry only reports how many drones its units shoot down, not how many Ukraine launches.
