Gabby Logan has shared the emotional moment she "cried into her sofa" following her departure from Strictly Come Dancing, despite her successful career as a presenter and former Welsh international gymnast.
Best recognised for her work with BBC Sport and ITV, Logan participated in the 2007 series of the popular dance show but was eliminated early, finishing in 11th place, while her husband Kenny Logan, the ex-Scotland rugby player, achieved fifth place in the same series.
The couple, who have been together for over two decades and have two children, Reuben and Lois, experienced contrasting fortunes on the dance floor.
Logan has recently spoken out about the impact of her elimination, revealing in her 2022 memoir the heartache she felt, confessing, "People really don't like me," as she grappled with the disappointment.
In a conversation with The Times, she explained her distress, simply stating: "Because I was kicked out!".
She reflected on the tough lesson she learned about public perception, noting that traits admired in athletes were not always celebrated elsewhere.

She recalled being criticised for her competitive nature, which she had always considered a positive aspect of her sporting career, reports the Express.
"And it was a harsh lesson, learning that sometimes not everyone likes you," she said. "You realise the parts of your personality that you thought were attributes as a sportswoman are not valued. I was told I was being too competitive, whereas I was thinking, 'I thought that was good. That's what I did in sport — and it worked — and that's what my husband is doing.'
"I actually reckon there was a societal shift between that show in 2007 and 2012. At the 2012 Olympics we started to appreciate tough, competitive women. We made heroes of them. But in 2007 I wasn't playing the game expected of a woman.'
Logan observed a change in attitudes towards competitive women in society, suggesting that by the 2012 Olympics, such qualities were more widely embraced, marking a stark contrast to the reception she received in 2007.

Alesha Dixon, known for her role as a judge on Britain's Got Talent, triumphed in the year she competed on Strictly. Since the dance competition's start in 2005, there have been just six female champions.
In related developments, Logan is poised to become part of a trio of presenters on the esteemed BBC football highlights programme Match of the Day.
Along with Kelly Cates and Mark Chapman, Logan will take over presenting responsibilities from the forthcoming season, succeeding Gary Lineker.
Gary Lineker announced his departure from Match of the Day last year after helming the show for a quarter of a century, citing it as the "right time" for him to move on and referencing changes at the BBC regarding the show's future direction.

While discussing the news on his podcast 'The Rest Is Football', the 64-year-old broadcaster mentioned: "I feel this is now the right time.
"I think (with) the next highlights contract, they're looking to do Match of the Day slightly differently, so I think it makes sense for someone else to take the helm."

‘Are you ready for Strictly?' – Snooker star Shaun Murphy shows off amazing dance moves while onboard a ‘wine train'
SHAUN MURPHY could be getting ready for Strictly Come Dancing after showing off his dance moves on board a wine train. The snooker star, 42, enjoyed a well-earned break following the conclusion of the 2024-25 season. 2 Murphy earned £327,900 to rank ninth in the one-year World Snooker Tour list. He suffered a second-round exit to No2 seed Judd Trump at the World Championship. And then the Englishman lost 4-3 to Mark Williams in the Helsinki International Cup in May. Now Murphy is home after letting his hair down with a holiday in America. The Magician took to Instagram with a pair of posts from the trip. The first was a picture of Murphy smiling in a restaurant earlier in June. He captioned it: "Off season going well - not sure I'll remember how to play snooker at this rate." Then the next post from Friday showed Murphy dancing along to music while riding along the road - with a drink in hand. He was decked out in a pink shirt, grey trousers and sunglasses as September by Earth, Wind & Fire pumped out of the speakers. Murphy wrote: "Just back from a two-week holiday in the States. Ronnie O'Sullivan is BACK with Strictly star Laila Rouass as they ditch Essex for shock new life abroad "I promise it wasn't all drinking and dancing. "Looking forward to getting back on the baize!" And the brilliant video sparked plenty of reaction in the comments. Fellow snooker great Stephen Hendry said: "Oh dear." BBC Sport's Jason Mohammad replied: "Scenes." Another added: "Hate him or love him, but you cannot deny, he got the moves!!! Enjoy it!!!" A fourth typed: "I can't unsee this unfortunately." And a fifth quipped: "Are you ready for Strictly?" But upon his return home, Murphy did not have long to get ready for his 2025-26 season opener. The 2005 world champ took to Instagram again on Sunday afternoon with a photo of himself in action and wrote: "How is it time for the new season???? "Wuhan Qualifier, tomorrow 2.30pm (UK time)."

'Gary Lineker stole my BBC job - he was wrong man and we haven't spoken since'
Steve Rider is hanging up his microphone after a long career in sports broadcasting, but the former BBC and ITV presenter has taken aim at Gary Lineker on his way out Steve Rider admits he hasn't spoken to Gary Lineker for years and still resents being replaced by the former Match of the Day presenter on the BBC's golf coverage. Rider is heading into retirement after 45 years on national television, having most recently hosted coverage of the British Touring Car Championship on ITV4. He has also covered the Olympic Games, the Rugby World Cup, Formula One - famously covering Ayrton Senna's death at Imola - and the Champions League during his time with ITV and the BBC, becoming widely known as one of the safest names in sports broadcasting. Rider started his career at ITV before moving to the BBC, spending nearly two decades with the corporation before returning to ITV in 2005. During his tenure with the Beeb, he served as the BBC's lead golf presenter, covering major tournaments including the Ryder Cup, the Open and the Masters. But when he departed, former England star Lineker was the surprise choice to be the new face of golf a decision that left Rider unimpressed. He stayed silent on the subject until 2015, when Lineker infamously described the R&A as 'pompous' and accused them of feeling like 'superior beings'. It prompted a stinging response from Rider. In an interview with the Golf Paper, Rider stated: "I hold Gary Lineker in the highest regard as a football presenter, but his reflections on his experiences as a golf presenter need a huge reality check. "For four years, the R&A and most other observers knew that Gary was the wrong man in the wrong job. Hazel Irvine has just delivered once again at the Open presentation skills of the highest quality. Not many people can do that and Gary certainly came up short. "Roger Mosey, the head of sport, knew Gary was a golf fanatic and was further encouraged by Gary apparently volunteering for the Masters vacancy within a few minutes of my exit from Television Centre. "But if Mosey thought long and hard before offering Gary the golf job, it's even more baffling. Match of the Day is scripted and rehearsed. Golf presentation, especially at Augusta, is seat of the pants, unpredictable and demanding." Rider hasn't spoken to Lineker since then, as reported by The Telegraph. Now the 75 year old has had his say on Lineker's recent exit from the BBC. Lineker presented his final Match of the Day last month. He had been expected to leave the company next year, after the World Cup, but saw his permanent departure brought forwards, following an Instagram post that saw him criticise Zionism with a post featuring an image of a rat. Lineker insisted he was unaware of the historical use of rats to represent Jews in anti-semitic propaganda. 'To put forward his opinions so energetically, you need to step outside the framework of the BBC,' says Rider. 'That message was never convincingly conveyed to him by the BBC, and that's where they are at fault. He needed people looking after him before he pressed the button on some fairly volatile retweets. "He needed to be saved from himself. So, there was a kind of inevitability about it.'

Meghan Markle is ‘social mountaineering' herself to the top & the ‘lack of authenticity is palpable', says royal expert
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) MEGHAN Markle has come a long way since being a Deal or No Deal briefcase girl - and has since starred in Suits and bagged a prince. However, royal experts have claimed that the Duchess of Sussex is 'social mountaineering' herself to the top but has a lack of 'authenticity.' The two women sat down for a chat, covering family life for Meghan and Prince Harry as well as her ventures after leaving the royal family. Speaking on The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, news commentator Samara Gill said: 'It was like the lack of authenticity in that interview was really palpable. 'Emma Greed, who was the interviewer, she's such a self-made East Londoner who actually really fought for what she has. 'She's really the brains behind a lot of big brands, the Kardashians etc, which is a little bit tawdry, but you know she really is someone who worked her way to be there. 'Meghan on the other hand really socially mountaineered her way to the top. 'So it's very difficult to take this authentic side that Emma was giving and this complete lack of authenticity that Meghan was showing in the interview, it was very hard to watch.' Royal author and broadcaster Hugo Vickers agreed, saying: 'The thing is, would nobody ever listen to Meghan Markle if it wasn't the fact she'd married Prince Harry? 'I mean the social mountaineering - because she's married to Prince Harry - it gives it a soap opera quality which seems to appeal to everybody otherwise no one would care about. 'I mean a lot of other people doing the sort of things that she does - I mean sprinkling petals over salads and stuff.' Meghan speaks out on 'baby mama dance' after vid sparked wild conspiracies Starting out in the world of acting, aged 25 Meghan landed a role as one of the briefcase girls on gameshow Deal or No Deal. The show first aired in 2005, but Meghan joined the following year for season two after successfully passing an audition. Filming up to four episodes a day, sometimes the girls took home more than $23,000 (£17,526) a week, and the intense schedules followed by weeks off allowed her time for auditions. 8 The Sun's royal editor Matt Wilkinson talking to Hugo Vickers and Samara Gill on our royal exclusive show Credit: The Sun 8 Meghan landed her role in Suits in 2011 Credit: Getty 8 The Duke and Duchess of Sussex ditched royal duties for life in California in 2020 Credit: Getty Meghan then played Rachel Zane for seven seasons of Suits after she made her debut back in 2011.
