100 Palestinians martyred; assault on Gaza continues

Death toll surpasses 61,000 amid deepening humanitarian catastrophe GAZA: Health authorities in the Gaza Strip announced on Thursday the martyrdom of 100 Palestinians and the injury of 603 others in the past 24 hours as a result of ongoing attacks on various parts of the enclave. In a press statement, officials reported that the total death toll has climbed to 61,258, while the number of injured has reached 152,045 since the beginning of the Zionist military campaign on October 7, 2023. The continuous aerial bombardment, artillery shelling, and targeting of densely populated residential areas and displacement camps have significantly contributed to the soaring casualty figures. The authorities added that Zionist forces carried out repeated attacks on civilians attempting to obtain humanitarian aid, killing 51 Palestinians and injuring 230 others in the past day alone. This brings the total number of Palestinians killed while trying to access aid to 1,706, with more than 12,030 others injured, most of whom were shot while approaching relief convoys amid worsening food insecurity. Hospitals in Gaza also recorded four new deaths due to famine and malnutrition, a consequence of the ongoing blockade and the near-total collapse of health and humanitarian services in the Strip. Health officials warned that the dire conditions continue to worsen amid threats of a further ground invasion. The humanitarian situation remains catastrophic, with UN agencies repeatedly warning of an unprecedented disaster as the health system nears total collapse. Severe shortages of food, water, and medicine continue to endanger the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians trapped in the besieged territory. Gaza has seen its highest monthly figure of acute malnutrition in children, with hunger-related deaths rising in the enclave, the Director General of the World Health Organization said on Thursday. 'In July, nearly 12,000 children under five years were identified as having acute malnutrition in Gaza, the highest monthly figure ever recorded, says director general of world health organization,' said WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus at its headquarters in Geneva. At least 99 people have died, including 64 adults and 35 children, including 29 below 5-years old since the start of this year to July 29, Tedros said. Some 2,500 of those children are suffering from severe malnutrition, according to the WHO. 'The overall volume of nutrition supplies remains completely insufficient to prevent further deterioration. The market needs to be flooded. There needs to be dietary diversity,' said Rik Peeperkorn, WHO's representative for the occupied Palestinian Territory via video link. Zionists seek control of Gaza Zionist entity intends to take full control of Gaza but does not want to keep or govern it, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said ahead of a security cabinet meeting on Thursday. 'We intend to,' Netanyahu replied, when asked in a televised Fox News interview if Zionists will take control of 'all of Gaza.' Fox News said the interview occurred just before Netanyahu was to attend a security cabinet meeting on Gaza war plans. Netanyahu is expected to seek approval at the meeting for an expansion of military operations, including in densely populated areas where hostages are believed to be held, according to Zionist media. Asked by Fox News if Zionist entity would control the entire 26-mile Gaza Strip 'as it was 20 years ago,' Netanyahu replied: 'Well, we don't want to keep it. We want to have a security perimeter. We don't want to govern it.' 'We want to hand it over to Arab forces that will govern it properly without threatening us and giving Gazans a good life. That's not possible with Hamas,' he added.- Agencies
