Peter Andre anxious as he jets off to see mum amid horror heath battle
Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre has shared his anxiety when he travels Down Under to see his ailing mum, Thea, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's
Peter Andre has admitted he is "anxious" about going to see his mum in Australia. The pop star, 52, headed Down Under for work and revealed he regularly visited his ailing mother, who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
However, he said doing so left him feeling anxious as he was leaving his family at home. The Mysterious Girl singer shares teenagers Junior and Princess with ex-wife and former glamour model Katie Price, while he has Amelia, Theo and Arabella with his current wife Emily MacDonagh.
He admitted travelling to Australia is always bittersweet and said it's hard having his close family separated by so much distance.
Speaking to OK! after his latest trip to Oz, Peter said: "It's always so hard leaving the children when I travel. I get quite anxious before I leave.
"But I also feel anxious because I'm going to see my mum for a very limited amount of time in Australia. I've seen Mum and Dad everyday in between work, so it's bittersweet."
He added: "I'm so happy to see them, but also happy that I'll get to go back and be with the children."
In January, Peter said he and his brother had headed to Australia to spend quality time with his parents Thea and Savvas. In 2023, he revealed that his 88-year-old mother, Thea, had been diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's.
Thea lives in Australia with Peter's father, Savvas, as she faces her declining health. Last year, Peter celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary and paid tribute to them, at the time acknowledging how "really tough it is to see your parents age or become ill."
Speaking to OK! in his column, at the time, he said: 'Being with my mum and dad in Australia was incredible, but understandably also very emotional. I went with my brother, Michael, and we got to spend quality time with my sister as well.
"The hardest bit for me is leaving them. Both Mum and Dad are on the decline, unfortunately, especially my mum."
He added: "Every moment was incredible. Thank you to everyone for all the lovely messages I received when I was there. Even though I know it's part of life, I can assure you it doesn't make it any easier to deal with."
Peter recently divided fans as he s howed off his family's trip to SeaWorld in Abu Dhabi. Peter took to social media to share an array of sweet snaps from the recent family holiday with his entire clan.
But some fans weren't happy with his choice of locations and let him know in the comments section of his post. He initially wrote: "We had the best time at @yasisland exploring all the parks. So special to have the whole family together, there truly is something for everyone. We'll definitely be back!"
One user pleaded: "Looks like an amazing trip but can we all agree SeaWorld is hell for animals and not go there? Thank you please. Especially our favourite celebrities with huge followings."

All you need to know about Alyth and District Agricultural Show
The summer agricultural event season is in full swing and thousands of people are expected to descend on a field in Perthshire for one of the next bumper instalments. Alyth and District Agricultural Show is on at Bogles Field, Essendy Road, Blairgowrie, next Saturday (June 14) from 8.30am-6.30pm. Visitors will find cattle, sheep, horses, donkeys, vintage tractors, trade and food/drink stands, children's activities, Highland dancing, a dog show and a pipe band in full flow. Alyth Show started in the 1940s, later becoming Alyth and District Agricultural Show. It grew steadily over the years and in the late 80s was deemed to be too large for its site at Diamond Jubilee Park, Alyth . So, it moved to a local field in 1990 and was then rotated between different farms. The annual event has been held at Bogles Field, Blairgowire, most years since 2013. This year's show president, Peter Mitchell, told us about a new addition to the roster. He said: 'We are delighted to be hosting a display of around 15 Caterpillars (agricultural machinery) at this year's show to celebrate 100 years of Caterpillar. 'Some of the models will be competing in our vintage section and parade. 'But many will be on display to provide an amazing showcase of these magnificent machines in their centenary year.' Pooches can be entered into the 2pm 'companion' dog show, including pedigree and novelty classes, any time up until 1pm. Peter added: 'We also take on-the-day entries for our horse sections. 'And in our unaffiliated show jumping classes, we have five classes catering for all ages and abilities, with entries taken on the day also.' Show secretary Gail Robertson said there were already 45 entries in the cattle classes, 160 for sheep categories, 80 in the horse, pony and donkey sections and 55 for vintage tractors, implements and engines. The Yorkshire Vet's heartbreaking news before welcoming new baby girl
David Melleny and his wife Megan could not be happier in their baby bubble - but as they reveal, they were going through a very sad time when they found out the good news The Yorkshire Vet 's David Melleney - though he's the first to admit that becoming a first-time dad is quite a learning curve - is in a happy baby bubble with wife Megan, 28, after the couple welcomed their first child on 19 May. And as they welcome OK! into their rural home in Holmfirth, Yorkshire for an exclusive interview, they also reveal why their journey was so emotional at times. Speaking of his adorable firstborn, a little girl named Lilah Rose, David revealed: 'She's been amazing so far,' he beams, sitting next to wife Megan and Lilah, who has an impressive head of baby-soft dark hair. 'She's been sleeping and eating, but we've been warned that everything can change.' The Channel 5 star married dentist Megan in a beautiful ceremony at Chateau du Doux, in France's Dordogne, in September 2023 – and Lilah is the the first grandchild for Megan's mum and dad, Steve and Della. But as the couple explain, when they found out they were expecting, Megan's family were going through a difficult time, a double loss which made them cautious about finding the right moment to break their happy news. 'I'd lost both my grandmas in the space of a month, and the day we found out was the day we were clearing out Nan's stuff from her house. My period was late, but I thought it might have been stress, so I did a test to check. It was a surreal and very emotional day", says Megan, reflectively. 'We decided to wait a couple of weeks to tell people, including Mum and Dad. My mum and my nan were really close so I just didn't think it was the right time. When we did tell them, everyone was overjoyed. I have one younger brother and we were pretty close to our cousins growing up, so the house was always full. I always knew I wanted to be a mum. No one in my generation has yet had a baby, so Lilah is already very spoiled.' Aside from the sadness of family losses, Megan says her pregnancy was in general smooth-sailing - confessing she only stopped working when it got to the point where her bump made it hard to "bend over and use my arms'. And thankfully, after what in the end was a very swift labour, Lilah was born happy and healthy. The couple spent one night in hospital before returning home for the very first time as a family of three, to a waiting charcuterie board and a bottle of wine which had been sweetly prepared by David's brother Peter and his parents Paul and Vicky. 'So I had a glass of wine and cried as I ate Parma ham, because that's how emotional you are when you get out of hospital,' Megan laughs. Fans of The Yorkshire Vet can also expect to see Lilah make her TV debut soon, as David and Megan introduce their new addition to The Yorkshire Vet viewers in a special episode which includes her arrival.
