Chris Martin defends keeping Coldplay kiss cam in shows after Astronomer CEO ‘debacle'
During a 'Music of the Spheres World Tour' stop at Craven Park in Kingston upon Hull, England, on Monday, the Coldplay frontman joked about last month's Jumbotron 'debacle' that outed Astronomer CEO Andy Byron and HR exec Kristin Cabot.
'We are so happy to be here,' Martin, 48, began during the Aug. 18 concert, per NME. 'Many of you have written signs. So, I'll take some time to try and read some signs. Then we'll see what happens.'

One fan revealed that they were also at the now-infamous Coldplay show in Massachusetts last month, and the 'Viva la Vida' singer thanked them for returning despite the kiss cam backlash.
'You were at that Boston gig,' Martin said. 'Well, okay, thank you for coming again after that debacle.'
The 'Yellow' singer then explained why Byron and Cabot's exposed cheating scandal won't stop Coldplay from continuing to show fans on the Jumbotron during their concerts.

'We've been doing it a long time, and it is only recently that it became a…yeah,' he said. 'Life throws you lemons and you've got to make lemonade. So, we are going to keep doing it because we are going to meet some of you.'
The Jumbotron kiss cam 'debacle' unfolded on July 16 as the 'Fix You' rockers performed at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
After Byron and Cabot were caught embracing during a song, the pair tried to duck away and conceal their faces from the camera.

However, it was too little too late, and Martin unknowingly teased the secret couple about having an affair.
'Oh, look at these two! All right, c'mon, you're okay,' he joked. 'Oh, what? Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy.'
The incident quickly went viral on social media, and the pair was identified as Byron and Cabot. It was also revealed that the woman the Astronomer CEO was cuddling with on camera was not his wife.
Byron ultimately resigned from the $1.3 billion AI company a few days later.

'Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,' the company announced July 19. 'Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.'
'Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,' it added.
Cabot, meanwhile, resigned one week later.

'I can confirm that Kristin Cabot is no longer with Astronomer,' a rep told The Post. 'She has resigned.'
The saga did not end there, as Astronomer later hired actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Martin's ex-wife, as a 'temporary' spokesperson for the company.
'I've been hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer,' the 'Shakespeare in Love' star, 52, said in a video posted on the company's LinkedIn page.
'Astronomer has gotten a lot of questions over the last few days, and they wanted me to answer the most common ones,' she added.

The BBC has revealed that Ozzy Osbourne's loved ones asked the public service broadcaster to delay a documentary about the late Black Sabbath legend just hours before it was scheduled to air this week.
