Karan Johar lashes out at troll calling him ‘nanny of nepo kids': Do some work
Johar shared a post on his Instagram handle on Monday praising Saiyaara actors, Ahaan Panday, who made his acting debut, and Aneet Padda, known for featuring in web series Big Girls Don't Cry and the Kajol-starrer film Salaam Venky.
Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara was released on July 18 and has garnered a positive response from the audience. Johar penned a heartfelt note and also called the film Suri's best directorial.
In the same post, one of the users left a comment pointing out Johar, but the filmmaker was ready to answer. The comment under the post read, "A gaya nepo kid ka daijaan (here comes the nanny of nepo kids)".
Johar responded by saying, "Chup kar!!! Ghar baithe baithee negativity mat paal! Do bachon ka kaam dekh !! Aur khud kuch kaam kar (Shut up. Don't breed negativity while sitting at home. Watch the work by two kids and do some work yourself)."
The filmmaker often faces negativity when it comes to the topic of nepotism as he has launched several star kids, including Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Ananya Panday.

Saiyaara collected ₹21.25 crore at the box office on its opening day. The film has emerged as the biggest opening day release ever for a debutant-led film, a career-best opening for the director Suri, and the highest opening day for a love story.
It is described as an intense love story of a young couple and is backed by Yash Raj Films (YRF). Johar is gearing for the release of his next, Dhadak 2, which he is producing alongside Hiroo Johar, Apoorva Mehta, Somen Mishra, Adar Poonawalla, Umesh Bansal, Meenu Arora. Directed by Shazia Iqbal, the film stars Tripti Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi and is slated to release in theatres on August 1.

Aamir Khan's production house shared a congratulatory note praising debutants' performance. Taking to their Instagram stories, Aamir Khan Productions shared the congratulatory note and praised the team. 'Congratulations to the entire team of Saiyaara on its remarkable theatrical success! Despite the limited show count, many theatres reported houseful shows in major cities. Globally, Saiyaara raked in $11.9 million over its opening weekend, placing it at number 9 on the global box office chart, per Comscore. The Indian weekend gross was $6.6 million, with the final tally expected to go higher. On the work front, Aamir's Sitaare Zameen Par minted around Rs 165 crore Net in India after a month of its release. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film also featured Genelia D'Souza in the lead. The film follows the story of Gulshan Arora, a suspended basketball coach who, as part of his community service, is assigned to train a team of neurodivergent adults. Initially, Gulshan is reluctant, but through his interactions with the team, he learns empathy and discovers a new perspective on life. Mohit Suri says he cast Aneet Padda in Saiyaara as he ‘wanted someone who hadn't altered her face or body'
Filmmaker Mohit Suri's Saiyaara is captivating hearts and breaking records at the box office. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda's chemistry in the film has become the talk of the town. In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Mohit revealed why he chose Aneet as the lead heroine and recalled their disastrous first meeting. Mohit Suri reveals what made him cast Aneet Padda in Saiyaara. Before the release of the film, Mohit talked about the casting process and revealed that it was Aditya Chopra who introduced him to Ahaan. Although he didn't initially see his film's character in Ahaan during their first meeting, he spent time with him and eventually recognised the qualities he was looking for. Mohit Suri reveals why he chose Aneet Padda for Saiyaara Mohit further opened up about the reason he cast Aneet in the film and said, 'I'm sorry if I don't sound politically correct, but one thing that was very scary was that I wanted a 20–22-year-old girl who hadn't done anything cosmetological to her face or body in today's age. That was a big requirement. I wanted someone who felt real and hadn't altered her body. Aneet had done some work before, and she was great at it. She was predominantly a great actor, especially for the part I required her to play. She came through all the slaughtering of auditions.' He added that other actors also gave good auditions, but they were 'too done up'. He then opened up about how he broke the ice with Aneet and said, 'It was a disastrous first meeting with her. She came into the office wearing a yellow costume, and Ahaan was there with me. I told her, 'What the hell are you wearing?' Someone had told her that's how the character was. She must have got really scared, and when this generation gets scared, they get chatty. But Ahaan tried to take all the chattiness onto himself. Her tests, though, were damn good.' He revealed that Ahaan saved the situation for Aneet that day.
