With the score 1-1 after 90 minutes, the clash went to extra-time but the two nations could not be separated.
Penalties were needed as a result - but one clever move gave Hampton the upper-hand.
The goalkeeper took the water bottle belonging to Spain shot-stopper Cata Coll when she was not looking and threw it into the crowd of England supporters.
Coll had planned to use the bottle as a 'cheat sheet' with individual notes on every Lioness for the shootout.

However, the genius move from Hampton left her empty-handed.
The England hero told talkSPORT on Friday: "The Spanish keeper had it on her bottle.
"So I thought when she was going in goal I'll just pick it up and throw it into the English fans so she can't have it."
Hampton continued: "I never put it on a bottle because anyone can do that, so that's why I put it on my arm.

"It wasn't hard, when she's in the goal it's on its own isn't it? You just pick it up?
"When she saw my bottle in there instead, mine's blank but it has the same sponsors and stuff so I just put mine in there, chucked hers in with the fans and she had an empty bottle.
Lionesses hero Hannah Hampton reveals incredible conversation with England fans before Chloe Kelly's decisive penalty
"She was walking back and I was walking the other way and she was so confused, I was trying so hard not to burst out laughing!"
The 24-year-old's plan worked as England went on to win the shootout 3-1 thanks to goals from Alex Greenwood, Niamh Charles and Chloe Kelly.
Meanwhile, Hampton saved attempts from Ballon d'Or contenders Caldentey and Aitana Bonmati.
The goalkeeper was named in the Team of the Tournament last week and yesterday earned a place on the Ballon d'Or shortlist as well as the Yashin Trophy shortlist.
She is also in line to be awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours list.

Controversial book adaptation shocks viewers with BDSM sex
Emerald Fennell's controversial adaptation of Wuthering Heights has been met with shock and labelled 'aggressively provocative' by initial audiences. Fennell's 2023 dark comedy Saltburn, starring Barry Keoghan and Jacob Elordi, caused quite the stir when it was released a couple of years ago. The film featured darkly erotic scenes and was praised for its severe sexual content and nudity, as well as its frequent depiction of violence and gore. Because of this huge success, the announcement that Fennell would be directing an adaptation of Emily Brontë's Wuthering Heights was met with excitement – and concern from literary fans. The casting of Jacob Elordi and Margot Robbie respectively as Heathcliff and Cathy, raised major eyebrows, and now it's been reported that an initial first screening of the unfinished film has left many shocked by the content of the period piece. World of Reel revealed that the adaptation included -among other shocking scenes – a nun fondling a corpse, BDSM, and sexualised slugs and egg yolks. Attendees have reported that the film includes 'hyper-sexualised imagery' with a 'grotesque' scene that sees a public hanging end with the condemned man ejaculating during the execution. This is followed up with some blasphemous necrophia from a nun who 'fondles the corpse's visible erection'. There are 'several masturbation scenes' that are 'purposefully discomforting' and a 'BDSM-tinged encounter' involving a woman being strapped into some horse reins. There are also some rather sexy textures, including 'egg yolks running through fingers', sliding slugs, and a bit of dirty dough kneading. Test screenings can often lead to major edits to the film, and with Fennell's film not set to be released until February 2026, who knows if any of this will make it to the final cut! The film has faced criticism for casting Elordi, yet another white actor to play Heathcliff, a famously non-white role that was written by Brontë. On one page of the original novel, Heathcliff is described as a 'dark-skinned gipsy in aspect', while another refers to his 'dusky fingers'. Characters debate his appearance to be of a 'Lascar' – a dated description meaning a sailor from India or Southeast Asia – or 'an American or Spanish castaway'. Casting director Kharmel Cochrane worked on the film and is one of the biggest names in her field in the UK, having previously worked on the likes of Nosferatu, Saltburn, Bob Marley: One Love. While at the Sands International Film Festival of St Andrews, she told Metro that she is very much aware of the abuse directed at her after her casting choices for the film. 'I have really had to hold back on Instagram after a glass of wine, because I think someone was like, 'The casting director should be shot',' she said. More Trending 'There's definitely going to be some English Lit fans that are not going to be happy.' She then added: 'Wait until you see the set design, because it's even more shocking. And there may or may not be a dog collar in it.' 'You can read anything into a book and make it your interpretation. And it's really easy to sit online and say things, but just wait until you've watched it, and then you can say – maybe not that I deserve to be shot – but you can say what you want!' Cochrane suggests. Got a story? Anders is by far the biggest name Duncan will have locked horns with during his stint in mixed martial arts' premier promotion. And he firmly believes a win over the American will be his ride to bigger and better things. In an exclusive interview with SunSport, he said of potentially fighting a top-15 opponent next: "Naturally, it comes to mind. Logically, it makes sense." He said: "As soon as they gave me the name, I had that rush [and excitement] of [finally being able to fight somebody of his calibre at this point. "I definitely put a serious push on my training and my mindset throughout this camp, leaving no stone unturned. It was, however, a frustrating night at the office as the Russian was on his bike for the majority of the fight. Israel Adesanya provides major update on UFC return and opens door to two mega fights amid fans' calls for retirement "I was definitely expecting more of a meet in the middle, kind of exchanging fight,' Duncan said of his most recent outing. "But like you said, he backed off quite a bit. "So it's hard to get anything going. It was hard to kind of build momentum in that fight. "But we got the win and it builds us now to this opponent, Erik Anders. "He is well known in the UFC, a veteran and a very experienced, tough, and durable guy. "He just fought Chris Weidman, the previous middleweight champion, so he's no pushover. "So it's a great test of my skill at this level. And I feel if we do well here, it could definitely push us forward well." Despite being excited by what a win over Anders will potentially do for his career, Duncan is refusing to put the cart before the horse. "'I'm focusing on what's happening now," he said. "So I acknowledge that it's [fighting a ranked opponent next] a possibility and it would happen. "But it's not as important [right now]. When it comes, that's when I can put my full focus on something like that. But for now, my focus is on Anders." Duncan's cautionary approach and insistence on focusing on the here and now is a testament to the mindset that head coach and Brit MMA pioneer Mark Weir has helped instil in him over the years. It's a great test of my skill at this level." "He would ask me where I wanna get to and he'd lay out like a little plan which would be like, 'You need to do this in your amateurs. "'And then when you get to the pros at this level.' And it's crazy how things are starting to play out that we've visualised and spoken about from early on. "So he's definitely been a part of that, developing that mindset." Claiming the scalp of Anders will be no easy feat, despite the former American football player being on the back nine of his career. 8 Christian Leroy Duncan expects Eryk Anders to give him his sternest test yet Credit: GETTY And Duncan is treating the 38-year-old like he's still at the peak of his powers. "He's very much a pressure fighter who likes to go forward," Duncan said of Anders. "[He] likes to be on the front foot and likes to dominate. "So it's gonna be more of me implementing my style onto him and seeing how he reacts and copes with that. "I believe my style will overwhelm him in the right areas at the right time. "And I think he'll be surprised with my speed and my movement once we're in there."

Dundee United could lose Jim Goodwin as boss attracts interest from multiple English clubs in last year of contract
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) DUNDEE UNITED are running the risk of losing Jim Goodwin as he enters the final ten months of his deal. Goodwin's' contract runs out at the end of the season. Sign up for Scottish Sun newsletter Sign up 1 Jim Goodwin guided Dundee Utd to a respectable draw against Rapid Vienna And having done a stunning job in leading the club into Europe from the Championship, SunSport understands a number of English clubs are monitoring his situation. It's believed Goodwin, 43, is eager to extend his deal with United. The Irishman is immersed in the job on Tayside as he aims to take his team into the Europa Conference League league phase. United earned a sensational 2-2 draw at Rapid Vienna and will be backed by a sell-out crowd in the second leg. United supporters are fully behind Goodwin. They will be desperate for him to be offered a new deal to bring some much-needed stability. Goodwin's side will have Tannadice rocking next week for the return leg of their Euro tie. Max Watters and Zac Sapsford grabbed the goals on a memorable night for the Arabs. Goodwin said after the game: 'We knew it was going to be a difficult evening against a very good Rapid team. 'I spoke about the importance of discipline and shape and players being courageous and putting their bodies on line and we saw that in abundance. Dundee United fan falls down stairs celebrating Euro goal 'The disappointment is the goals we conceded which were really avoidable. For all Rapid's good play it wasn't as if our goalkeeper had to pull off save after save. 'The first was avoidable when we dropped the runner in the six yard box and the second was a lapse of concentration. But I couldn't be more pleased with the level of commitment. 'We really dug deep towards the end. Without making excuses we're really short on players. Rapid were making four or five quality substitutes to freshen things but we don't have that luxury. 'With the greatest of respect we had so many young kids on the bench and it wouldn't be fair to throw them on into that hostile environment. We were outstanding but we aren't getting carried away. It's still only half-time and we have a big job at Tannadice.' Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
