Riuh x Asean to bring together 200 brands, 100 F&B vendors from region
Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the two events would be Riuh x Asean, the largest edition of the festival, running from Oct 17 to 26, and Riuh Merdeka 2025, a 30-hour non-stop celebration on Aug 30 and 31.
Fahmi said Riuh x Asean would create cross-border opportunities for the regional creative and business community, while bringing together art, music, and entrepreneurship from Malaysia and other Asean countries.
"One of its main components, the Riuh x Asean Marketplace, will run from Oct 22 to 26 in Kuala Lumpur, featuring over 200 retail brands and more than 100 food and beverage vendors from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
"The programme will also showcase over 40 stage performances, 30 interactive workshops, and 20 creative activations, including industry networking sessions for entrepreneurs and creative practitioners from various countries," he told a press conference here today.
Fahmi said FrequenSEA, the first Asean music conference, would be held on Oct 21 and 22 in Kuala Lumpur.
He said it would bring together over 200 musicians, producers, creators, and industry leaders to discuss the future of Southeast Asia's music industry.
Meanwhile, he said Riuh Merdeka 2025 would be staged at the New Millennium Monument car park in Putrajaya on Aug 30 and 31.
The non-stop, 30-hour celebration will feature performances by Yuna, Misha Omar, Pop Shuvit, Aliff Satar, The Locos, IamNeeta, and more, alongside fireworks displays and a creative market showcasing local brands and crafts.
Fahmi said that for each event, the ministry expected between 20,000 and 30,000 visitors.
"For Riuh Merdeka, as it will be held in conjunction with Hari Merdeka celebrations in Putrajaya, and it falls on a Sunday, we anticipate that it is not impossible for the number to exceed that, especially after the National Day parade," he said.
He said the Riuh management team had been instructed to ensure a wide variety of Menu Rahmah options would be available for the many families expected to attend.

Animation industry shows potential, funding likely
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's animation industry could soon get a boost, with the government set to unveil fresh initiatives in Parliament next week. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil ( pic ) said the initiatives, involving the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) and MyCreative Ventures (MyCV), will be revealed during his winding-up speech in the Dewan Rakyat. 'My instructions to MyCV and Finas are that, aside from preparing funds, we must also look into several aspects of production such as funding from the corporate banking sector,' said Fahmi at a press conference after announcing the Riuh X Asean event yesterday. According to Fahmi, the corporate banking sector sees the creative industry, especially animation, as a profitable venture. 'We want synergy between the corporate sector and the creative industry. God willing, MyCV and Finas will help facilitate this,' he said.
