Bobby Costello was last seen in the Channel 4 soap in 2023.
Played by Jayden Fox, the troubled teen made a dramatic exit after he was sent to a juvenile detention center.
He was responsible for the deaths of Sylver McQueen, Silas Blissett and Verity Hutchinson, and the attempted murder of DeMarcus Westwood.
With the Hollyoaks residents living in 2026, Bobby is returning to the village three years later - but with a brand new face.
Hollyoaks bosses have cast Waterloo Road star Zak Sutcliffe for a dramatic new storyline.
The actor has began filming at the show's set in Liverpool and will appear as the recast version of Bobby in the next few weeks.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Zac said: "I'm having a lot of fun with my time on Hollyoaks so far. It's exciting to get into something gritty and complex."
Zak is best known to soap fans for playing bad boy Schuey Weever in Waterloo Road.
His other acting credits include roles in Doctors, Casualty, No Offence and Grimsby.
The young actor also has history with Hollyoaks, as he played guest character Tommy Bradshaw for two episodes in 2021.
Hollyoaks legend returning to the soap a year after quitting
Bobby isn't the only soap villain that will be retuning to the Chester village.
The Sun revealed that Gemma Bissix is returning to Hollyoaks after a 12 year hiatus.
The blonde bombshell will reprise her role as minx Clare Devine next month despite being KILLED off.
The shock twist will take place as the show celebrates its 30th birthday this year.
From Hollyoaks to Hollywood
James Corden played a caretaker in the early days of the soap.
The former American TV host doesn't have much positive to say about his time on the soap, claiming it was "hell on earth."
Since his short-lived time on the show he has gone on to bigger things including smash hit comedy Gavin and Stacey.
Rachel Shenton joined the soap as aspiring glamour model Mitzeee Minniver in 2010.
Over two years her character was sent to prison, got pregnant and had a number of romantic affairs.
Since leaving Hollyoaks she has won an Oscar for best live action short film, The Silent Child.
Rachel has also starred in White Gold and All Creatures Great and Small
Emmett J. Scanlan played gangster turned anti-hero Brendan Brady.
Emmett played the love interest of Steve Hayes, with their romance delighting fans until it turned violent.
Since his departure Emmett has appeared in Peaky Blinders, The Fall, Gangs of London and even appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy
Emma Rigby joined Hollyoaks when she was 15 as Hannah Ahsworth.
Hannah's eating disorder storyline was the first of it's kind on TV while other plots included being caught in a fire, gangland drug dealing and running away.
Since leaving the soap in 2010 Emma has gone on to star in ABCs Once Upon a Time in Wonderland as the Red Queen. Other roles include guest appearances in Death In Paradise, Ripper Street and Fresh Meat
Nico Mirallegro got his big break with Hollyoaks starring as emo Barry 'Newt' Newton.
Nico's main storyline in the soap was developing schizophrenia which culminated in a suicide pact.
He left the soap in 2010 and went on to star in My Mad Fat Diary, Our Girl, Rillington Place, The Ark and Common, Penance, as well as the Mike Leigh movie Peterloo and was nominated for a Bafta for his role in period drama The Village.
Ricky Whittle used Hollyoaks as a stepping stone to break America.
He played one of the soap's resident hunks, Calvin Valentine, from 2006 to 2011 - when he was killed off at his wedding.
After leaving the soap Ricky cracked America starring in teen drama The 100 and America Gods.
He also appeared in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009.
Warren Brown joined Hollyoaks in 2005 for a year as evil Andy Holt.
His stint on the show consisted of date rape storylines and a crime spree, before eventually being killed off.
After leaving Hollyoaks, Warren became a big hitter in TV playing DS Justin Ripley in Luther, as well as major roles in a number of dramas including Liar, The Responder, Homefront and Good Cop.
Wallis Day played Holly Cunningham in the soap for years before leaving.
In 2021 Wallis won the role of Batwoman in DC's series, taking over from Ruby Rose.
It comes after EastEnders viewers had been expecting her to reprise her role as Clare Bates on the rival BBC One soap after her on-screen dad Nigel, played by Paul Bradley, has mentioned her on air several times.
Gemma appeared on Albert Square for 15 years before leaving in 2008.
A source said: 'Gemma's much anticipated return to Hollyoaks has been kept top secret and her character is set to stir up plenty of on-screen drama as the soap kicks into gear around it's 30th birthday.
'She is delighted to be asked back, especially as she's rising from the dead. The scenes will be explosive.'
Gemma's Hollyoaks character Clare wreaked havoc but met a brutal demise in 2013 when she was mowed down by Doctor Browning, following a shove from Mercedes McQueen.
Reflecting on her departure at the time, Gemma said: 'I think at the time, Clare had had so many ups and downs.
"The character has to expire at some point - you can't be that evil and not get your comeuppance.'
Hollyoaks airs Monday to Wednesday on E4 at 7pm.

Twix adverts banned for condoning unsafe driving
Advertisements for chocolate bar Twix have been banned for condoning unsafe driving. The TV and similar video-on-demand ads showed a man in a car chase which resulted in his vehicle and an identical, caramel-coloured car sandwiched on top of each other, like a Twix. Five viewers complained the ads encouraged dangerous driving and were irresponsible. Mars-Wrigley, which owns the Twix brand, told the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) the ad had a 'cinematic presentation' and was set in a 'world that was absurd, fantastical and removed from reality'. It said Twix is known for its playful and absurd tone, and the humour in the ad reflected this. However, the ASA said: 'We considered the emphasis on a chase, and the speed inherent to that, and the driving manoeuvres featured would be dangerous and irresponsible if emulated in real life on a public highway. 'Because we considered the driving depicted in the ads condoned unsafe driving that appeared likely to breach the legal requirements of the Highway Code, we concluded the ads were irresponsible.' The ASA ruled the ads must not appear again in their current form, adding: 'We told Mars-Wrigley not to condone or encourage irresponsible driving that was likely to breach the legal requirements of the Highway Code in their ads.'

Teacher sacked over secret OnlyFans insists ‘I NEVER thought they'd catch me'.. leaving GMB's Susanna Reid speechless
TV host Susanna Reid was left speechless after interviewing a teacher who was sacked for having an OnlyFans account. The Good Morning Britain presenter had been quizzing Kirsty Buchan, who was banned from teaching after she was spotted on the adult platform by pupils. 5 5 5 Speaking to Susanna and co-host Richard Madeley, the 34-year-old admitted: "I didn't think I would be caught, I didn't think I would be famous." The mum-of-one, also known as Jessica Jackrabbit x, worked at Bannerman High School, in Glasgow, when she joined the site. But she was caught out when pupils stumbled across her account, where she rakes in tens of thousands of pounds each month for posting raunchy snaps. After the interview, Susanna said: "Thank you for coming in to talk to us this morning. "I can imagine that people will have strong views. It's good to meet you." And handing over to weather presenter Laura Tobin, Susanna quipped: "Let's have a look at weather now with Laura, who's all covered up in a field in Kent." A disciplinary hearing for the sacked teacher was told her profile was discovered by pupils in 2022 and reported to headteacher Seonaidh Black. Pictures of Ms Buchan, 34, "posing in lingerie" were handed over by shocked students. In her bio she admitted to being a "good teacher gone bad... really bad". The profile was also easily accessible, requiring no payment or sign up. Ms Buchan, who had originally been a pupil at the school before teaching there, did not attend the hearing. In her absence, the headteacher described the OnlyFans model as a "teacher who wanted to do a good job". One concerned mother had even contacted Ms Black and reported how her son left messages for Ms Buchan on her OnlyFans profile. 5
