(Video) Local Singer Daiyan Trisha Stuns In Hijab; Is She Ready To Wear It Permanently?

Hype Malaysia16-05-2025

Wearing the hijab is more than a fashion statement or a gesture of respect during religious occasions or visits to places of worship. For Muslim women, it is a lifelong commitment. In Malaysia, some celebrities have chosen to adopt a more modest lifestyle, particularly after marriage.
Malaysian singer Daiyan Trisha recently surprised fans by posting a video on social media in which she is seen wearing a fully covered pink baju kurung and a hijab. The clip sparked speculation over whether she intends to wear the headscarf permanently. Here's the full story:
On Thursday (15th May), Daiyan Trisha shared a video on TikTok, happily posing for the camera in a pink baju kurung and hijab. She posted the same video on Instagram earlier today (Friday, 16th May). Fans on TikTok praised the singer's appearance, with many commenting on how beautiful she looked. Some were curious as to whether a boyfriend had influenced her decision to dress more modestly.
Instagram comments, meanwhile, largely focused on her looks, with several users admitting they had replayed the video repeatedly just to admire her. The real question, however, is whether the 31-year-old was hinting at a decision to wear the hijab permanently. According to posts on her and a friend's Instagram Stories, Daiyan was apparently on set for a shoot for a TV3 programme titled 'Di Sebalik Jubah'. The artist was seen wearing the Sofia Abaya collection from Lumour Design, posing next to content creator Amira Azman, who was wearing the same collection.
While the viral clip turned out to be part of a project shoot, whether or not Daiyan Trisha eventually chooses to wear the hijab permanently remains her personal decision. Regardless of the outcome, fans are likely to continue supporting her, whatever path she takes. What did you think of Daiyan Trisha's look on set?

Stylist testifies Cassie dated Michael B. Jordan during Diddy relationship

Stylist Deonte Nash testified that he set up Cassie with Michael B. Jordan (far left) after she found out Diddy was seeing another woman in 2015. Photos: Michael B. Jordan/Instagram, TNS Sean 'Diddy' Combs' former stylist testified on Thursday to the former flames of Cassie Ventura, saying she dated both Michael B. Jordan and Andre Branch during her contentious on-and-off relationship with the hip-hop mogul. Deonte Nash — who worked for Diddy from 2008 to 2018 — took the stand for a second day in the rapper's federal sex trafficking trial, testifying that he set up Ventura with Sinners star Jordan after she found out Diddy was seeing another woman in 2015. Nash also confirmed he knew that Ventura had dated Branch, now a 35-year-old former NFL linebacker, but that he 'never met him' during their brief relationship in 2016. Branch was alluded to earlier in the trial when Ventura testified that she cheated on Diddy with an NFL player, though she didn't identify him by name. While Ventura's relationships with other men have nothing to do with the charges against Combs, prosecutors have used them in attempt to paint a picture of his possessive, controlling and violent behaviour. The R&B singer also testified to her relationship with rapper Kid Cudi, revealing the pair briefly dated in 2011 during a time when she and Combs were 'not in the greatest place.' She said Combs filled with rage upon learning of the romance, allegedly telling Ventura 'he was going to hurt' the two of them and blow up Cudi's car. In January 2012, police did in fact respond to a vehicle arson at Cudi's address in L.A., where his car was found engulfed in flames. No suspects were ever arrested. On Wednesday, Nash testified to witnessing Combs physically abusing Ventura on numerous occasions and hearing him threaten 'to beat her a–,' get her parents fired from their jobs and send out humiliating sex tapes recorded during 'freak-offs.' Nash's testimony brought into focus the power imbalance between Combs and Ventura, 17 years his junior. Prosecutors have used this to back up their claims that Combs coerced her into sex sessions with male escorts, which his lawyers have tried to frame as consensual. If convicted of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution, Combs faces life behind bars. He has maintained his innocence. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service

#SHOWBIZ: Time for more Malaysian films to be screened abroad

SYAFIQ Yusof has praised his father, Datuk Yusof Haslam, for his persistent efforts to screen their film, 'Blood Brothers: Bara Naga', in Southeast Asian countries. According to the 33-year-old filmmaker, it is high time for Malaysian films to reach broader regional audiences and move beyond traditional markets like Singapore and Brunei. "If we look at the film market in Malaysia, we operate an open market concept, allowing films from any country to enter, particularly those from Thailand and Indonesia," Syafiq told Harian Metro. "However, gaining entry for our films into other countries' markets can be different. What's important is that our local artistic work has been successful in Malaysia, and I am grateful for that. It is the success of this film that has given us the confidence to take 'Blood Brothers' abroad to several Southeast Asian countries," he added. Syafiq believes there is nothing wrong with attempting to introduce Malaysian films to foreign markets, regardless of the outcome. He said that the decision taken by Skop Productions, his father's company, is the correct one. The film, co-directed by Syafiq and Abhilash Chandra, premiered in Cambodian cinemas on May 27. It will then be released in Thailand in June, followed by Vietnam and Indonesia. "My hope is that this film will continue to be well-received by international audiences," he said. Beyond its Malaysian release, 'Blood Brothers' is also being screened in Singapore and Brunei.
