What's next for Kirk Cousins as Atlanta Falcons reportedly not interested in trading him
Atlanta Falcons' veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins' frustration with the club isn't exactly a secret.
While Atlanta has shown little interest in trading him, rumours suggest that the Cleveland Browns are interested
Notably, after being benched late last season in favour of rookie Michael Penix Jr., the 35-year-old quarterback has opted to skip organised team activities (OTAs). He even made a direct call to Falcons owner Arthur Blank, requesting to be released, while tanking his $27.5 million guaranteed salary?
But with mounting tension and a clearly disgruntled quarterback, questions are growing louder: What happens next? And could Cleveland swoop in?

ESPN Atlanta reporter Marc Raimondi said a trade with the Browns, 'made the most sense' for Cousins, more than other rumoured suitors like the Pittsburgh Steelers or the Minnesota Vikings.
Raimondi outlined what such a deal could look like: Kenny Pickett, a 2026 sixth-round pick, and cash considerations to Atlanta in exchange for Cousins and a 2026 seventh-rounder.
'This destination always made the most sense for Cousins, who has a long history with Browns coach Kevin Stefanski from their time together in Minnesota,' Raimondi wrote.
'After going through OTAs and minicamp, the Browns might realize they need another veteran to compete for the starting job.'
With Deshaun Watson still recovering from an Achilles injury, Cleveland's current QB room doesn't exactly inspire confidence. 'Cleveland currently has Joe Flacco, rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, and Pickett competing for the QB1 spot with Deshaun Watson out,' Raimondi noted.

'The Falcons could strike a deal where they front $17.5 million of Cousins' guaranteed money for 2025, and Pickett would be Atlanta's new QB2.'
With Kirk Cousins' deal, Cleveland gets a seasoned veteran with ties to Stefanski and a chance to stabilise the QB position, while Atlanta clears cap space and brings in a developmental quarterback in Pickett.

'This guy's undeniable': Shedeur Sanders stirs QB debate as Browns rookie turns heads at camp
Shedeur Sanders turning heads at Browns camp (Image credit: Imagn Images) Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders is turning heads at minicamp. While many in the organization are excited about his progress, some analysts are urging caution over rushing him into a starting role too soon. The buzz is building fast. Sanders has flashed arm strength, mobility, and a calm command of the huddle. Every rep he takes in practice only fuels speculation that he could leapfrog veterans on the depth chart sooner than expected. Coaches see rapid growth in Shedeur Sanders' command and confidence The son of NFL legend Deion Sanders, Shedeur arrived with high expectations after a standout college career at Colorado. And so far, he's living up to the hype — at least in the eyes of some inside the facility. As one insider put it, 'In that building, there are people who believe that Shedeur can 100 percent be the starter of this football team… It's incumbent upon Shedeur to do the work, which, talking to the people in that building, they've said he is soaking up everything like a sponge.' The rookie has also impressed the Browns' coaching staff, particularly offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. 'He's worked his tail off. – You can tell the mental side of the game, learning the system, calling it, having that rhythm to it… He's put a lot of work and time and effort into that. And when you do that, the game starts to slow down and you can focus on finding completions.' Media voices clash as quarterback battle heats up But not everyone is sold on the idea of starting Sanders in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals. On the Ken Carman Show with Anthony Lima podcast, the two hosts clashed over the rookie's readiness. Carman warned, 'I think it would be a disastrous move to make him the Week 1 starter.' He added, 'I want him to have a chance to succeed. It is too much, too soon. He seems like a good young kid – I want what's best for Shedeur Sanders, and starting him week 1 in all against the Cincinnati Bengals is reckless.' Lima, on the other hand, countered strongly, 'If he leapfrogs Joe Flacco, who's on this team when they went to the playoffs the other year, if he leapfrogs the guys they gave up assets for, that they took ahead of him, then it becomes like 'alright, this guy's undeniable,' why would you put a stop sign for that?' NBA's talks about new league in Europe are continuing, though the process remains in early stages
OKLAHOMA CITY — The NBA's talks with FIBA and other entities about the process of adding a new league in Europe are continuing, Commissioner Adam Silver said, though he noted that it may take at least a couple more years to turn the ideas into reality. Silver spoke at a league event to unveil a refurbished Boys & Girls Club in Oklahoma City on Friday — an off day for the NBA Finals — and said it's difficult to put a specific timeline on the Europe plans. 'I will say it's measured in years, not months,' Silver said. 'So, we're at least a couple years away from launching. It would be an enormous undertaking. And while we want to move forward at a deliberate pace, we also want to make sure that we're consulting with all the appropriate stakeholders, meaning the existing league, its teams, European players, media companies, marketing partners. There's a lot of work to be done.' Silver and FIBA secretary general Andreas Zagklis announced in March that the league and the game's governing body are finally taking long-awaited steps to form a new league, with an initial target of 16 teams. It had been talked about for years, and decades even on some levels. And since the NBA and FIBA went public with their idea to move forward, talks have gotten more constructive, Silver said. Silver said the NBA has been talking directly with the EuroLeague and with some member clubs about a partnership. It's his preference that the NBA work with the existing league on some level, though it's still too early to say exactly what that means. 'Either way, we continue to feel there are an enormous number of underserved basketball fans in Europe and that there's a strong opportunity to have another league styled after the NBA,' Silver said. About one in every six current NBA players hails from Europe, including Denver's Nikola Jokic and Milwaukee's Giannis Antetokounmpo — who have combined for five of the last seven MVP awards — along with the Los Angeles Lakers' Luka Doncic and San Antonio's Victor Wembanyama . The NBA's board of governors will talk more about next steps with the European plans in July at their scheduled meeting in Las Vegas, Silver said. It's possible that the European venture could be unveiled in some way — or possibly start — around the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, just given how much attention will be on international basketball at that time. 'That might be a good launching pad for an announcement around a new competition,' Silver said. Some of the cities that are expected to have interest in being part of the new venture include London, Manchester, Rome and Munich. There will be others, of course. 'We haven't had direct conversations yet,' Silver said. "But there have been several organizations that have come forward and said they would be interested and potential owners in operating in those major markets in Europe.' NBA: /nba
