UAE-India flights: Airlines issue travel advisory as heavy rains lash parts of country
With India's monsoons clashing with the UAE's summers, there is heavy travel during these few months as residents go back home for vacations.
Air India, which is set to partially resume international flights after the deadly Ahmedabad crash last month, warned passengers in its advisory on Wednesday, July 16, of gusty winds and rains impacting flight operations in Delhi. It advised them to check the latest flight status on its website before heading out.
Meanwhile, Indigo issued an advisory for people travelling to and from Delhi and Patna amid heavy showers.
The airline in its statement on July 16 said that "while operations remain on schedule for now, weather-related delays may be expected later in the day".
Passengers have been recommend to check their flight status on their website or app before heading to the airport. Additionally, they must keep extra time for their journey, as rain may affect traffic conditions en route.
In Patna, the airline stated that departures and arrivals may be slightly affected and advised passengers to check their flight status on its website or app before heading out and keep some extra travel time.
Budget airline SpiceJet issued advisories for Delhi, Varanasi, Bagdogra and Mumbai travellers in the past two days due to bad weather and alerted them of potential impact to arrivals and departures.
Passengers have been advised to keep a check on their flight status via their website and those travelling to the airport are requested to keep a tab on live traffic and allow sufficient time for the journey due to traffic congestion on the roads leading to the airport.

Air India suspends service on US route from September 1
Air India announced on August 11 that it would suspend services between New Delhi and Washington D.C. in the US from September 1, 2025. In a statement sent to the media, and published by PTI, the airline said that the suspension is "due to a combination of operational factors". Air India last month started retrofitting 26 of its Boeing 787-8 aircraft. As a result, its fleet is sustaining a shortage of vehicles "at least until the end of 2026." The statement also cites the ongoing closure of Pakistan's airspace as a complexity that impacts long-haul flight routes. Customers who have already purchased tickets on this sector will be "offered alternative travel arrangements, including rebooking on other flights or full refunds, as per their individual preferences," said the airline. Other routes to Washington D.C. from Delhi are operational. Air India has one-stop flights via New York, Newark, Chicago and San Francisco, as they partner with local airlines. This means customers can check their bags through to their final destination of Washington D.C. if they opt for these routes.

UAE-India flights: Tickets start from Dh53 as airline announces 'freedom sale'
Air India Express has announced discounted airfares on the eve of 79 years of independence with domestic and international fares starting from Rs1,279 (Dh53.50) and Rs4,279 (Dh179), respectively. As part of its grand 'Freedom Sale', the Indian budget carrier is offering five million seats across both domestic and international flights, including UAE destinations. More than 3.7 million Indian nationals living and working in the UAE, as well as millions of tourists visiting the UAE and other countries, can benefit from the sale. It connects Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah to cities across India. With a fleet of 116 aircraft, it operates over 500 daily flights, connecting 38 domestic and 17 international destinations. The sale opened exclusively on the airline's website and app on Sunday, August 10, and will be available across all major booking channels until August 15, 2025.
