Mysterious masked man steals the spotlight in Green teaser
, directed by Raaj Vijay, is about the monster within. The makers revealed the teaser on Saturday, promising a chilling visual treat filled with mystery, darkness, and psychological depth. Speaking to CE, director Raaj Vijay shared insights into his vision for the film, describing it as a psychological thriller that steps away from conventional storytelling. 'The teaser follows a regular pattern, with something new. Coming from a VFX and animation background, I wanted the filmmaking style to be different,' says Raaj. 'Structurally and visually, it's nothing short of a Hollywood film, made in Kannada.'
Green
introduces a layered world with characters full of intrigue. Gopal Krishna Deshpande, as Mayanna, plays the protagonist, while Balaji Manohar takes on the role of an army officer. Shiva Manju plays a police officer, and RJ Vikki portrays Rajeeva—a character with disabilities who displays cyborg-like behavioural patterns—adding further dimensions to the film's narrative. Vishwanath Mandalika plays Johnny, another character shrouded in curiosity. 'Each character plays a crucial role, especially in the climax,' Raaj reveals.
Interestingly, there is only one female character—played by Dimpy Fadhya—who essays the role of a mother, among a few other characters. The teaser runs for 1 minute and 54 seconds, and even within this short span, it offers a visual glimpse that includes at least one well-placed jump scare.
One of the biggest talking points from the teaser is the mysterious masked man—neither the character's name nor the actor portraying him has been revealed. Yet, his ominous presence dominates the teaser, exuding danger and mystery. He emerges as one of the major highlights of the teaser for
Green
, which the makers say intentionally blurs the lines between psychological fear and real-world threats. 'It's about the overwhelming struggles we face when our own thoughts and fears start to control us.' The film explores how these 'monsters' grow if left unchecked, turning inward pain into destructive energy.
With Ravi Films now handling theatrical distribution, the film is aiming for a May-end release. It has already made waves at several international film festivals, winning awards and being hailed as a breath of fresh air. Produced under the Bourn Films banner, in collaboration with Savika Enterprises and co-produced by BN Swamy,
Green
also features music composed by Sak Shakthi. Director Raaj Vijay has plans to explore a multiverse concept in the film, more details of which will be revealed later.

Vishnuvardhan memorial demolition: Fans, Kannada stars express outrage, demand dignified tribute
Dr Vishnuvardhan's memorial demolition has not only upset fans but also reopened old wounds about how Karnataka honours its film legends. For many, this is not just about a structure being removed but it's also about losing a piece of history connected to one of the state's most beloved actors. Demolition of Dr Vishnuvardhan's memorial in Bengaluru The sudden demolition of Kannada cinema legend Dr Vishnuvardhan's memorial in Bengaluru has caused shock and anger among his fans and the film industry and the memorial which was located at Abhiman Studio where the actor was cremated in 2009, was pulled down overnight on August 7–8, 2025 and reportedly it was done under police protection and following a Karnataka High Court order. This decision, carried out without public notice, deeply hurt his admirers, many of whom saw the place as sacred. Reason behind the demolition The demolition is linked to a long-running legal dispute. In 2015, the state government had allotted two acres of land at Abhiman Studio to the Vishnuvardhan Memorial Trust and however, the Balakrishna family, who own the studio, challenged the allotment in court, arguing that the land was taken without proper consent and that the promised compensation was never paid. In August 2023, the High Court ruled in favour of the family, restoring the land to them and this cleared the way for the removal of the memorial, even though fans had hoped for its preservation. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Duong An Duong Vuong: Unsold Furniture Liquidation 2024 (Prices May Surprise You) Unsold Furniture | Search Ads Learn More Undo Several Kannada stars spoke out strongly The move sparked massive outrage. Fans gathered at the site in grief and protest, with many blaming the government and Kannada Film Chamber of Commerce for not protecting the memorial. Several Kannada stars including Kichcha Sudeep, Rishab Shetty, Upendra, Dhruva Sarja and Sri Murali, spoke out strongly against the demolition. Sudeep compared it to destroying a temple, while Rishab Shetty called it an insult to one of the state's greatest actors. About Dr Vishnuvardhan Vishnuvardhan, born Sampath Kumar, was one of the biggest names in Kannada cinema, second only to Dr Rajkumar. In his 35-year career, he acted in over 200 films across Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages, earning titles like Sahasa Simha and 'The Angry Young Man' of Kannada cinema. His death at 59 in 2009 shocked the state, and his cremation at Abhiman Studio gave the site emotional value for fans. Although the government has built a grand memorial for Vishnuvardhan in Mysuru, featuring galleries, rare photographs, personal belongings, and a life-sized statue but many fans still feel that it cannot replace the original cremation site. Allegations have also surfaced about political involvement and plans to use the land for commercial purposes, though these remain unverified. Some voices are now calling for a lasting solution that to place Vishnuvardhan's memorial at Kanteerava Studio, alongside those of Dr Rajkumar and Ambareesh, to unite the three icons of Kannada cinema in one place.

‘Where do Kannada films even run?' KGF producer recalls reaction of ‘big star' who dismissed the industry
There's no point in contesting the statement that it was director Prashanth Neel's period actioner franchise KGF, starring Yash in the lead role, that put Kannada cinema on the global map. While the industry was entertaining its ardent fans before KGF, Yash's film gave them a bigger spotlight and they got more eyes on them, which proved to be profitable for the Kannada film industry. However, the road to the top wasn't smooth for the industry after all, as it was deemed hopeless by others. Chaluve Gowda of Hombale Films, which bankrolled the KGF movies, recently made a shocking revelation that exposed the contempt and disregard the biggies of other industries had towards Kannada cinema, bluntly assuming it had no audience base and would never command a vast market. Recalling a bitter experience during the casting of KGF: Chapter 1 (2018), when a 'big star' rejected their offer, Gowda stated that the person even ridiculed the industry, saying its films had no takers. 'We went to a big star for KGF years ago. They asked, 'Where do these Kannada films even run?' At that time, not many people knew about Kannada films outside of Karnataka. They knew a few names, like Dr Rajkumar. But that was it. That has definitely changed now,' he shared during a chat with Hindustan Times, adding that such stars now make a beeline for them seeking opportunities. His words soon went viral, prompting many to assume that the 'big star' was approached for the lead role, implying that Yash wasn't the first choice for his now-iconic character, Rocky. Gowda himself later clarified that the project was envisioned with Yash in mind. 'We were always in touch with several other actors pan-India for different key roles in KGF 1. Any reports or rumours claiming that Yash was not the first choice for KGF are incorrect,' he maintained. With a budget of Rs 80 crore, KGF: Chapter 1 managed to gross Rs 238 crore worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Kannada film at the time. This record was later surpassed by its sequel, KGF: Chapter 2 (2022), which grossed a staggering Rs 1,215 crore globally against a budget of Rs 100 crore. The films also featured a star-studded cast including Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Raveena Tandon, Anant Nag, Prakash Raj, Ramachandra Raju, and Vasishta N Simha.
