India vs Pakistan! Neeraj Chopra to face Arshad Naddem for first time since Paris Olympics
The much-anticipated face-off between India's
Neeraj Chopra
and Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem is finally set to unfold once again — this time at the Silesia Diamond League in Poland on August 16.
It will be the first meeting between the two javelin giants since their showdown at the
Paris Olympics 2024
, where Neeraj finished on the podium and Nadeem made history for Pakistan.
Chopra, who recently breached the elusive 90-metre mark at the Doha Diamond League with a throw of 90.23m, has continued to impress on the global stage.

Speaking to ANI at an event, the Olympic and World Champion on Friday emphasised his steady, step-by-step approach to pushing his limits: "I believe in going step-by-step. I have touched 90 m now, so I would like to increase it by one or two metres.
Then aim for 95 m. As Sumit (Antil) said, 95 m is indeed possible. Then, after that, I would try breaking my coach's record."
That coach is Jan Zelezny, the world record holder (98.48m), and someone Chopra greatly admires.
"He has thrown 98m, and so many over 90. Maybe once I hit 95m, then I can start to say something — but right now, I need to keep working," he added.

As the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo (Sept 13–21) approaches, Chopra is focused on defending his crown. "I am preparing well for it and I hope to give my level best there. It is the biggest and most important competition of the year," he said.
His clash with Arshad Nadeem in Poland may not carry Olympic stakes, but for fans across both nations, it promises plenty of excitement and perhaps a preview of battles yet to come.

What did King Charles III ask Indian skipper Shubman Gill after 3rd Test?
King Charles III described Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj's dismissal in the Lord's Test as 'unfortunate' after thoughtfully asking Shubman Gill about the moment during a reception at Clarence House, where he welcomed both India's men's and women's cricket teams on Tuesday. The 76-year-old monarch engaged in a friendly cricketing discussion with the Indian squad, a meeting Gill later described as 'amazing.' Joining the teams were Indian High Commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami, Deputy High Commissioner Sujit Ghosh, BCCI Vice-President Rajiv Shukla, and Secretary Devajit Saikia. He was very kind and generous, and we had some excellent conversations.' Recalling the dramatic finish in the third Test, where Siraj was bowled as the ball sat defensively off his bat, Gill added: 'The King noted how unlucky our last batters were, with the ball ending up on the stumps. He asked us, 'How did you feel after that?' We told him it was an unfortunate match but that we're hopeful for better luck in the upcoming games.' Gill also praised the unwavering support from the Indian community in the UK: 'We're fortunate to receive strong backing wherever we play. At first, the crowd at Lord's seemed more England-leaning, but over the last few days, the support for us was overwhelming.' He lauded the quality of Test cricket on display, saying: 'Both teams showed passion and pride, giving everything mentally and physically. When a five-day Test ends with such a narrow margin, cricket wins.' Harmanpreet Kaur on meeting the King On her own exceptional experience, Indian women's team captain Harmanpreet Kaur said, 'Meeting the King was a wonderful experience. This was our first time meeting him, he was very friendly and asked about our travel.' Women's head coach Amol Muzumdar added, 'It was a humbling moment at the Royal House. We traveled all the way from Southampton, and it was definitely worth it.' The event was hosted by the British Asian Trust, founded by Charles when he was Prince of Wales to address poverty and inequality in South Asia. Hitan Mehta, Executive Director, remarked on the trust's growth: 'It began with a cricket match between India and Pakistan in 2007 organized by His Majesty, and now reaches 13 million people across the region.' Following the visit, the men's team departed for Manchester ahead of the fourth Test, while the women's squad returned to Southampton to prepare for their ODI clash with England, scheduled after their narrow 3-2 T20I series win.

To achieve their mission of strengthening the foundation of the sport in India, IGPL has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Golf Union (IGU)— the official governing body for men's amateur golf in India. The landmark agreement underscores their joint commitment to nurturing emerging talent and building a sustainable pathway for India's Olympic golf aspirations. IGPL alo recently received support from the Sports Ministry and Yuvraj's addition to the elite board further sets the stage for the league to bring on a true transformation in the overall golfing ecosystem. Expressing his delight over his association with the IGPL, Yuvraj said, 'It is a matter of great excitement to join the IGPL team and have the opportunity to promote this incredible sport in a fresh avatar. Despite being one of the most popular sports in the world, golf is still considered to be a niche sport and a fast-paced and quick format is exactly what is needed to expand to more audiences, athletes and make golf more spectator friendly." "The tournament will also help in grooming Indian golfers and will help in their development with added opportunities. We are confident IGPL will help in popularising the sport among the masses in India along with providing a platform to golfers across the board to build their capabilities and compete,' he said. Uttam Singh Mundy, CEO of IGPL, also revealed the league's bold international ambitions, stating: 'IGPL is not just India's league—it's India's gift to global golf. We will be taking our tour internationally in the very first year itself, creating opportunities for our players to compete globally and for international golfers to experience India's emerging golf scene.' Furthermore, to promote inclusivity in golf, IGPL has also partnered with Women's Golf Association of India (WGAI) to elevate women's golf and provide structured, high-visibility platforms for female athletes. IGPL will be hosting India's first-ever professional league tour to feature both men and women playing on the same platform, competing across franchise teams and regional circuits. The integrated format not only redefines how golf is played in India but also reflects their commitment to promote inclusive excellence and athlete empowerment. Further, to create an overall impact on the ecosystem and to funnel rising talent into the league, IGPL tour will be played across different cities in the build-up to the first edition of the league between September and December. They will also be onboarding mentors and legends of the sport to ensure the franchise teams have the best exposure and guidance to bring together an engaging competition and exposure to the athletes across the board. IGPL is also tying up with various schools and universities in India to make steadways in developing grassroots talent, and to bring on talent to compete in IGPL Tours. UNI BM
