Emmerdale's John unearths Robert's damning secret involving returning character
The latest episode of Emmerdale revealed what 'dirt' John Sugden will have over his sibling Robert Sugden amid their ongoing feud.
Robert's determination to expose his sibling's dark ways, with no one believing him, left him with a target on his back on Wednesday night. John had unearthed the fact his brother was trying to find out what he was hiding, but not even Robert knows for certain the horrifying truth.
He's clocked on to the fact that John is always there to save the day, and he's suspicious over recent events concerning former mother-in-law Chas Dingle, and villager Jacob Gallagher. Robert has also figured out that John may have killed Nate Robinson and then framed Owen for the crime, while he has no proof.
With Robert's mental health spiralling, John feigned concern and asked doctor Liam Cavanagh to have a word with his brother. Playing the doting brother who is being targeted for no reason, John wasted no time in telling their sister Victoria about Robert's attempts to get into his phone as well as badmouth him to others.
Victoria, already concerned about Robert given his prison trauma and him having nightmares, feared he was spiralling and taking it out on John. But if only they all knew the truth.
Robert was annoyed by Liam's arrival, and soon returned to calling out John. Fishing for information on him, he kept talking about Liam's colleague not being honest and truthful, claiming he had something to hide.
John was nervous as he listened into the chat via a listening device he'd secretly planted in the house. He heard Robert claim he would get to the bottom of what John was up to, with him heard saying "something wasn't right with him".
Robert then unintentionally gave John something to have over him though, as returning character and new villain Ray headed back to the village to track Robert down. Ray debuted a few months ago, and Robert secretly did a drugs deal with him.
He stole Lewis Barton's weed that was growing on Moira Dingle's farm and sold it to Ray. Ray was so impressed he wanted more, but Robert made it clear it was a one-off deal, and there was no more cannabis.
Ray didn't believe him though, and it emerged it was Ray who sent Dylan and another masked intruder to the farm to look for the crops. Of course they found nothing, and unfortunately they were caught, leading to Dylan being attacked - while Joe Tate got the blame.
But Ray wasn't done, and on Wednesday he returned to the show and the village, looking for Robert. Tracking him down, he asked Robert for another batch, admitting what happened at the farm.
Robert pleaded with him, saying business was over and there was honestly no more drugs. So when Ray hinted he would ask Lewis, or Ross and Mack, instead, Robert panicked.
Realising it would get out that he'd stolen the drugs and sold them to Ray, he begged the dealer to stay quiet as otherwise "he was finished". What Robert didn't realise though was that as he confessed to the theft and his deal with Ray, John was listening into the entire chat via the device and now knows his secret.
John now has dirt on Robert that could land him in trouble, both with the law and with the village. So what will John do with this information, and is it enough to get Robert to back off?

Coronation Street viewers are convinced that they've worked out how Theo Silverton will leave the cobbles Coronation Street fans reckon they've figured out Theo Silverton's departure, as they anticipate a sinister twist involving Todd Grimshaw. Todd (played by Gareth Pierce) first encountered scaffolder Theo (portrayed by James Cartwright) in March. The two quickly became friends, and it was disclosed that Theo was set to tie the knot with a woman named Danielle, with the pair sharing two children. Theo found himself shunned by his family when Danielle discovered his relationship with Todd. Theo later confessed to Todd that he had spent most of his life hiding his sexuality, after his deeply religious parents forced him into conversion therapy during his youth. Viewers of the ITV soap have been worried for Todd recently as Theo has repeatedly shown aggression. He notably threatened James Bailey after he drunkenly attempted to kiss Todd at number eleven, and even struck his own son, Miles, during a tense family brunch last week. Theo's violent behaviour ultimately led Danielle to prevent her ex-husband from seeing their children, reports Leicestershire Live. During Monday night's episode (August 4) an enthusiastic Todd informed Theo that the corner shop flat was available for rent, with George Shuttleworth later confessing that he will miss Todd when he leaves. In an attempt to lift George's spirits, Todd proposed that they accompany Dev Alahan on his stag do at the Rovers, which left Theo feeling annoyed. At the stag do, Theo became bothered when Todd took a turn on the stripper pole, swiftly pretending to have a headache and insisting they head home. Once back at number eleven, Theo admitted to fabricating the headache, confessing to Todd: "I wanted you all to myself." Following Monday's episode, numerous Coronation Street viewers expressed their worries for Todd as Theo persists in distancing him from the rest of the street. Elsewhere, some fans are speculating about Theo's potential departure from Weatherfield. One viewer commented on a Facebook fan page: "Theo is definitely separating Todd from his loved ones. This isn't going to end well once they move into the flat". Another chimed in: "I think Todd will be in an abusive relationship. It's already starting. Theo could then get arrested and go to prison," while yet another cautioned: "Todd needs to watch out. Theo is bad news." ITV drops major Big Brother 2025 start date teaser and 'new look' for show
It's been a whirlwind few hours following the Love Island final, and the excitement doesn't stop there. ITV has now confirmed the return of Big Brother later this year, with a brand new look for the 2025 show. The upcoming series, which has been confirmed by the broadcaster to air in September, will mark its third instalment after having switched from Channel 4 back in 2000. A fresh batch of contestants will enter the house, under Big Brother 's watchful eye. Presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best will return to screens, with the show tipped to offer fresh twists, elaborate challenges, intense nominations and live evictions, as the housemates compete for the all-important cash prize. One of the most exciting parts of Big Brother for fans is the big house reveal, which always switches up theme every year in a bold and stirking new design, so we will need to keep our eyes peeled for those updates. And those who like to indulge in 24/7 action will be glad to know that the Live Stream will also return, airing seven nights a week exclusively on ITVX, following the extra drama and gossip of Big Brother Late and Live. While the exact premiere date for the new series remains unconfirmed, it's believed to launch either on Sunday, September 28 or Monday, September 29.
