Ex-Ranger star injured as team bus stoned by rival fans
The ex-Ibrox hero passed the 200-goal milestone in his career last month, which included 124 goals in 269 games for Rangers in a six-year spell.
Ahead of this week's Copa Colombia tie at Cucuta Deportivo, the Nacional team bus was attacked by local fans after it had to take a detour.
Hurled rocks showered Morelos in glass and he had to get treatment on arrival.

However, he declared himself fit and ended up scoring a goal in the second half in their 3-0 win.
Cucuta Deportivo president, Wilmar Sanchez, said: "I had a discussion with the president of Atletico Nacional about whether the game should even go ahead after the cowardly attack on the team bus and injury to Alfredo Morelos.
"My understanding is that his leg was injured by the pieces of glass after the windows were shattered.
"But he insisted on playing.
"The attack on the bus was a disgrace and we will do everything we can to assist the authorities."

Rangers fan who ‘breached security at Ibrox' and infiltrated Dundee supporters huckled out of stadium by stewards

The Light Blues dropped more points on the pitch this evening in a 1-1 draw with Dundee. Meanwhile in the stands, video clips emerged on social media of what is alleged to be a Rangers fan who managed to evade security and infiltrate the section of the stadium where the visiting Dundee fans were housed. The footage shows a pair of security staff members in being called into action in the Govan West Corner and having to forcibly remove a young male from the area in the final ten minutes of the match. In the clip, the fan is seen shouting and gesturing angrily towards the Dundee supporters, who in turn sparred back with their own verbals. He is lifted up the stairwell and then out through Exit 7, and is seen wearing a Rangers scarf. Even as he is being huckled away by the stewards, he tries to goad other fans near him. Rangers and Police Scotland have been contacted for comment. In terms of matters on the pitch, Gers boss Russell Martin admitted his players looked lethargic despite coming off a feel-good Champions League qualifying win over Viktoria Plzen in midweek. He said: "We lacked aggression in big moments, set plays especially, which is disappointing because we've done a lot of work on them, defended them so well on Tuesday night. "And, we just lacked aggression with the ball really. When Ross McCausland knew it was time to leave Rangers and why he's been blown away by his REPLACEMENTS "You can't get bored of doing the right thing all the time and running and moving the ball quickly, it was a bit too slow at times. "There was definitely a lethargy and it's disappointing and frustrating. "We're learning so much about the guys, they're learning so much on the pitch as well about what's important. "The other night we had to be patient and then when we got picked off, when we got pressed, when we picked people off, then we could go quickly. "Today we're not getting pressed, so it's a completely different challenge for the boys to travel really, really quickly. "And it didn't, but we'll learn from it, it's so early on. "It's a long season, the guys will be better for it for sure, and we just have to keep reminding them what's important all the time." John Souttar Rangers contract stalemate in focus as former Ibrox coach urges new regime to realise what they have
Defender is in the final year of his Ibrox deal and admits talks have gone quiet despite being keen to extend his stay Billy Dodds reckons Rangers should be doing all they can to extend John Souttar 's contract. The Scotland defender is in the final 10 months of his Ibrox deal and revealed last week talks over fresh terms have stalled. Souttar has started all five of Russell Martin 's competitive games in charge this season taking him onto the 99 game mark in Govan and was handed the captain's armband in last week's 3-0 Champions League qualifying victory over Viktoria Plzen. Dodds, who worked directly with the 28-year-old in his spell in Barry Ferguson 's interim management team and got an insider take on his contract situation, insists it's important the new regime realise the quality they already have in the building as they go about their squad overhaul. He said: 'All I will say is that if you are looking to have a Scottish element as a starting point it would be beneficial to the club to get John's future sorted. 'It was absolutely brilliant for him to be made captain against Plzen because Tav was left out, it was a bit special for him. 'I think because he's Scottish, he gets underestimated. But he has got a bit of pace. He has got leadership, is good in the air, he talks well and is a brilliant passer of the ball. 'Sometimes people look at players in other leagues and say they're brilliant - but it is important to realise what is in the building.' Souttar revealed last week how talks with club chiefs have gone quiet in recent months. But he said: 'I love this place, I love this club. I love being here and that's really all I'll say on the matter. 'I've not really heard much recently, so all I can do is train hard every day. Every day I step on the pitch, I enjoy playing for the Rangers because I know how special the club is to play for. 'Whatever happens, will happen. But every time I pull on that jersey, I'm honoured, and that will never change.' Dodds reckons Souttar's influence off the park is another reason why Rangers chiefs would want to keep him in the building. He said: 'He's got a big part to play. He is a big quiet lad. He is unassuming. He is strong. He does not like any fuss. He is certainly a leader with his displays on the pitch. 'A great lad to work with. He sent me a nice message when we left. 'Again, unassuming, knows the job and what is required. These kind of boys know domestically things have got to get better and will help that situation.'
