Kinston police looking for vehicle involved in hit-and-run
It is believed to be either a 2500, 3500 or 5500. Law enforcement officers said it happened on Haskett Road and the truck was last seen traveling on Haskett Road and Eagle Road.
The vehicle should have significant front-end damage on the passenger side and a missing passenger side fog light.
Anyone that sees the vehicle or has information is asked to contact the KPD or Kinston-Lenoir County Crime Stopper at 252-939-4020 or 252-523-4444.

Portable sauna units worth roughly $75K stolen from owner's lot in Winnipeg
The owner of a Winnipeg sauna company is worried about his family's livelihood and the future of their business after he said three of their mobile units were stolen from a lot ahead of its busiest season for rentals. The mobile saunas, made out of cedar and resembling the shape of a barrel, were picked by a black Dodge Ram, which then drove away from the lot on Archibald Street, Amir Hamed, owner of the Backyard Barrel business, told CBC News. The theft lasted a number of hours with the first barrel seen towed on surveillance footage at around 11 p.m. Friday and the last just after 3 a.m. on Saturday, Hamed said. "I honestly never thought they would get stolen, we even had the wheel locks on them … the back doors were locked," he said. "It's really unfortunate, but we're trying to make the best of it," Hamed said. "They're each worth $25,000, so we have $75,000 roughly missing." Winnipeg police said they received a report about the incident which will be referred to the property crimes unit for a follow-up investigation. The Backyard Barrel business operates five mobile units and Hamed said the two that weren't stolen had been rented out. Hamed had been trying to sell the business to spend more time with his family. He managed to secure a buyer but the deal fell through on Friday and hours later the three mobile units were stolen from his property. While he doesn't think the sale is related to the theft, both happening on the same day is "a lot of stuff to deal with." He is afraid the saunas will be torn apart and sold in pieces. But he remains hopeful the units can be recovered without major damages before September when the demand for mobile units starts to soar as temperature begins to drop. "This is our livelihood and it's going to impact selling it drastically," Hamed said. He is encouraging people to keep an eye for the units, in case they are listed for sale online. They are trademarked and have a tin roof, a wooden stove and a panoramic window.

Detroit police seek information about shooting that injured 2 kids on city's east side
The Detroit Police Department is looking for information about Thursday's shooting that injured two children on the city's east side. Officials say two trucks pulled up to a home on the 7000 block of Arcola Avenue around 6:20 a.m. Two people got out of the vehicles and shot into a home, injuring a 7-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy. Investigators are looking for a black 2021 Dodge Ram, which they say was stolen. The second truck used in the shooting, a 2022 Dodge Ram TRX, has since been recovered by police, officials said. Police have been searching for two people in connection with the incident, though descriptions of those people have not been released. Anyone who has information is asked to call the Detroit Police Department's 11th Precinct at 313-596-1140, Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-773-2587 or leave an anonymous tip here. Brantford man charged with assault by Brantford police and OPP
A Brantford man has been charged with violent crimes by two police services. Provincial police arrested Alveen Ahmed, 28, last week, charging him with sexual assault, assault and forcible confinement. It was related to an ongoing investigation into a sexual assault that took place in Brant County in January, according to a news release on Thursday. Earlier in July, Brantford police charged Ahmed with attempted murder, assault with a weapon, kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault, related to an incident on July 13. An officer had found someone with 'serious injuries' from a 'physical and sexual assault' near Golf Road and Highway 403, a Brantford police release said. Brantford police released Ahmed's photo and a picture of his pickup truck, a black 2022 Dodge Ram, because they think there could be more victims. Following both arrests, Ahmed is out on a $20,000 bail. He is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. He's not to leave his residence except if he or an immediate family member has a medical emergency, or if he is with his surety. He's not to have any weapons or drive without his surety present. He is also subject to GPS monitoring. In a Facebook post on Monday, Brantford—Brant South—Six Nations MP Larry Brock pointed to it as an example of Canada's 'broken' catch‑and‑release bail system.
