Tamannaah Bhatia blames Instagram algorithm for liking pages "on its own"
Bollywood actor Tamannaah Bhatia took to Instagram to explain how the social media platform apparently "likes" pages "on its own".
"Can Instagram pls figure out how it likes pages on its own, cause random people are making it news and I have work to do," the actor said while posting a story with a selfie of herself.
Reportedly, Tamannaah liked an Instagram reel that features Deepika Padukone and which highlighted issues such as the gender pay gap, unprofessional work environments, and misogyny.
The Odela 2 actor's post comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding actor Deepika Padukone and filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga over the movie Spirit, from which Padukone had backed off and sparked a controversy.
Previously, Indian cricketing great Virat Kohli found himself at the centre of online chatter after several users noticed that his verified Instagram account had liked a post from a fan page dedicated to actor Avneet Kaur.
The star cricketer later took to the social media platform to clear the air. Kohli, without naming anyone, said the "like" seemed to be a mistake caused by the "app's algorithm".
"...There was absolutely no intent behind it (the interaction). I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding," read his Instagram story.

Trump says he used trade as leverage to prevent possible nuclear war between India and Pakistan
President Donald Trump on Friday said he had helped India and Pakistan avert a potential nuclear war by using trade with the US as leverage to push for a ceasefire. The South Asian neighbours exchanged artillery, plane and drone strikes this month after gunmen killed 26 people in April in the Himalayan tourist spot of Pahalgam in the Kashmir valley. India accused Pakistan of backing the attack, which Islamabad has denied. 'We stopped India and Pakistan from fighting, I believe that could have turned out into a nuclear disaster,' Mr Trump said in the Oval Office on Friday. 'We dropped trade, and we said we can't trade with people that are shooting at each other and potentially using nuclear weapons. … They're great leaders in those countries, and they understood, and they agreed, and that all stopped.' Mr Trump infuriated New Delhi this month when he announced the US had 'mediated' a ceasefire. Not only did his announcement pre-empt India making a statement, New Delhi has long maintained that any issues with Pakistan, including over the disputed Kashmir region, can only be addressed bilaterally and without the intervention of a third country. India has insisted the recent cessation of hostilities with Pakistan was decided through direct contacts between the two countries' armies. During an Indian Ministry of External Affairs news conference on Thursday, a spokesman said trade discussions never came up in ceasefire talks. 'The issue of trade or tariff did not come up in any of those discussions,' said Randhir Jaiswal. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed Mr Trump's mediation and his 'very pivotal and paramount role' in ending the crisis. According to US figures, trade between America and India totalled about $129.2 billion last year, compared to $7.3 billion between the US and Pakistan.

IPL 2025: Rohit stars as Mumbai knock Gujarat out of tournament
Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians' batting charge with his 81 to knock Gujarat Titans out of the Indian Premier League with a 20-run win in the eliminator on Friday. Electing to bat, five-time champions Mumbai rode on a blazing opening stand between Rohit and England's Jonny Bairstow, who hit 47, to post 228-5 at Mullanpur in New Chandigarh. Bowlers combined to restrict Gujarat to 208-6 despite a valiant 80 by in-form opener Sai Sudharsan in a do-or-die playoff clash. Mumbai will now meet Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad on Sunday to decide Royal Challengers Bengaluru's opponent in the title clash on June 3. Wicketkeeper-batsman Bairstow joined Mumbai ahead of the playoffs due to a few players leaving the tournament to fulfil international commitments and made an instant impact in his 22-ball knock.
