The US actor, 48, will reprise her role of vampire-battling high school student Buffy Summers in the new series on Hulu, and in a post on social media told Star Wars: Skeleton Crew star Ryan Kiera Armstrong she was excited for her to be "my partner on this journey".
In the Instagram post, Gellar wrote: "I want to introduce you to @ryankarmstrong. From the moment I saw Ryan's audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side.
"To have that kind of emotional intelligence , and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room. Welcome to #NewSunnydale."
In the video, Gellar asks Armstrong: "How do you feel about helping me save the world? Do you want to be my chosen one? Will you stand by my side and save the world?"
In a post to her social media, Armstrong wrote: "I'm so beyond thankful and excited to share that I am going to be apart of the BTVS universe!!!
In the comment section, David Boreanaz, who played vampire Angel in the TV series, said: "Congratulations and Welcome! Enjoy the ride."

Gellar in February said she was "on the path" to reviving Buffy the Vampire Slayer alongside a team of "four unbelievably talented women".
The series, created by writer and director Joss Whedon, saw Gellar play Buffy Summers, one of a long line of young women chosen by fate to battle supernatural forces in the fictional US town of Sunnydale.
The program also starred Alyson Hannigan as Willow Rosenberg, James Marsters as Spike and British star Anthony Head as Rupert Giles.
The show's success led to a spin-off series for vampire Angel, played by Boreanaz.
Gellar has also starred in 1990s movies Cruel Intentions and I Know What You Did Last Summer and plays the boss of fictional serial killer Dexter Morgan in a new prequel series.

Tragedy as Parks And Recreation actor shot dead after home destroyed by fire
Jonathan Joss, known for his role as Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation and as the voice behind John Redcorn in King of the Hill, was killed in a San Antonio shooting on Sunday. A suspect, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, was taken into custody and booked on a murder charge, the San Antonio Police Department said. Officers were dispatched to Dorsey Drive around 7pm Sunday for a shooting and arrived to find the actor, whose legal name is Jonathan Joss Gonzales, near the roadway after he was shot, police said. Authorities attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived and pronounced Joss, 59, dead. Joss's family home in San Antonio was destroyed in a fire in January. An online fundraiser stated three of his dogs had been killed in the fire and raised more than $10,000. Joss was shot while collecting mail with his husband, Tristan Kern De Gonzales, from their burnt-out home, according to an online statement. 'A man started yelling homophobic slurs at us, he then raised a gun from his lap and fired,' Kern De Gonzales said. 'When the man fired, Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life.' Jonathon Joss's husband, Tristan Kern De Gonzales, released a statement on social media. Credit: Instagram Joss's husband said he had allegedly been killed by someone who 'could not stand the sight of two men loving each other', and implied that the same targeted homophobia had earlier resulted in someone allegedly burning down their house. 'I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved,' Kern De Gonzales said. 'To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family.' Joss was the voice of John Redcorn in the Fox animated series from seasons 2 through 13. John Redcorn was a 'New Age healer' and masseur, who was always addressed by his full name or Mr Redcorn. A new season of King of the Hill is set to debut on Hulu in August. In a credit sequence shared Friday, John Redcorn is seen driving by in his classic tan Jeep. Joss also played recurring character Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation, and had roles in Tulsa King and the 2016 remake of The Magnificent Seven. His most recent acting credit was in 2023 for voicing a character in the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty video game. Joss told local reporters then that he did not have a job. Representatives and family of Joss could not immediately be reached for comment.

Jesus Guerrero's cause of death revealed
Celebrity hairstylist Jesus Guerrero died of severe pneumonia. The stylist - who worked with the likes of Kylie Jenner, Camila Cabello, Dua Lipa and Jennifer Lopez - passed away in February, aged 34, and the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner has now confirmed his cause of death. A report from the Medical Examiner shows that Guerrero contracted a lung infection called Cryptococcosis prior to passing away. The report also cited Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome - a life-threatening condition caused by HIV - as a secondary cause of death. Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome can lead to a weakened immune system. Guerrero's manner of death is stated as natural. The stylist worked with a host of big-name celebrities during his career, and Jennifer Lopez - one of his former clients - previously took to social media to pay a glowing tribute to him. Alongside a black-and-white photograph of the celebrity hairstylist, Jennifer wrote on Instagram: "Jesus "It's no surprise your mother gave you the name Jesus. You were gentle and kind and loving, quiet and unassuming, but so powerful, and your presence was felt the minute you walked into any room. You never demanded the spotlight. You never needed to make a sound to be recognized, your heart and your talent did that as effortlessly as you artistry did. I've been having trouble putting the words together the last few days. The truth is I'm still in shock that such a beautiful young life has come to an end. It seems senseless and unfair. "I know your family is brokenhearted as am I and everyone else who knew you. Your spirit moved on to the next phase beyond this life but I know wherever you are there is beauty and light. And the beauty and light you left here will live on forever. Rest in peace, sweet angel… [broken-heart emoji] (sic)" Scott Barnes, Jennifer's make-up artist, also took to social media to pay tribute to the stylist. Alongside a tribute video, Scott wrote Instagram: "I can't believe I was just working with him in Dubai and now he's gone. Many prayers to his family during this time."

Don't miss out on the headlines from Entertainment. Followed categories will be added to My News. Brooke Shields celebrated her 60th birthday in paradise. The Blue Lagoon actress took to Instagram Saturday to share photos of herself rocking a black bikini while lounging on a hammock on the beach. 'Woke up in Paradise … and in a new decade of life,' she captioned the post. 'This is 60! Thank you for all the birthday love.' Shields styled her beach day look with a wide-brimmed hat and choker necklace. Brooke Shields posted images to her Instagram to celebrate her 60th birthday. Picture: Instagram. Shields celebrated the milestone in a bikini. Picture: Instagram. The Hollywood star didn't disclose the tropical location where she was enjoying her milestone birthday. In honour of the big day, her haircare brand, Commence, also shared 'a non-exhaustive list' of 'propaganda' she refuses to believe as she gets older. 'That 60 means slowing down,' read text on an Instagram Reel of Shields at a photo shoot. 'That change is only for your twenties. That it's too late to learn something new. That my best days are in the rearview. 'That women 'of a certain age' aren't a force to be reckoned with. That I don't deserve products made specifically for me. That not every day can be a good hair day.' Shields previously revealed she's against using Botox on herself. Picture: Getty. Shields got candid about ageing in a November 2023 interview with Glamour magazine, confessing she's afraid of certain cosmetic injectables. 'I'm scared of not looking like myself; the times that I've had Botox, I end up with this Spock eye and I'm like, 'I don't look like myself,'' she said at the time. 'But I'll get Fraxels, and peels, and whatever the newest thing is, and I'll try it. I just don't want to not look like myself.' But Shields has maintained her youthful glow; she stunned as she hit the beach in another bikini in April. At the time, the former model flaunted her figure while lying in the sand in the Bahamas wearing a black-and-white two-piece. The Mother of the Bride star went makeup-free, accessorising with a gold necklace and statement bracelets. This story originally appeared on Page Six and is republished here with permission.
