Noida residents discuss law and order situation with police
Noida: Residents of Sectors 12 and 122, along with a delegation from the NCR RWA, met police officials over the weekend in their respective sectors to discuss concerns regarding law and order.

Key issues raised included lack of police patrolling, vehicle thefts at night, phone snatchings in broad daylight, rising incidents of theft, activities of anti-social elements, traffic congestion, unauthorised e-rickshaws, and the consumption of alcohol in parks and open spaces within residential sectors.
"Under Noida police's Good Evening Programme, a meeting was held with deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Yamuna Prasad, additional deputy commissioner (ADCP) Sumit Shukla, assistant deputy commissioner (ACP) Ajit Singh, acp Vivek Ranjan Rai, and chowki in-charge Rahul Kumar.
This was in the presence of FONRWA president Yogendra Sharma and general secretary KK Jain at Sector 11 community centre over the deteriorating law and order situation in Sector 11," said Anuj Gupta, RWA president of Sector 11.
Dinesh Krishnan, RWA general secretary of Sector 11, informed police officials that due to inadequate patrolling, incidents of vehicle thefts at night, mobile phone snatchings during daylight, and increasing thefts have occurred in the sector.
Gupta added that anti-social elements and drifters consume drugs and misbehave with passers-by at several locations.
A similar meeting was organised with residents of Sector 122 by senior police officials ADDL Sumit Shukla and ACP Twinkle Jain. Residents highlighted the lack of security, absence of a traffic system, deteriorating law and order, and other pressing civic issues. "We urged for immediate measures to make the security system more robust, including increased patrolling daily from 7 to 10 am.

Small children should be banned from riding motorcycles without helmets at high speeds and with loud noise.
Solutions to traffic jams and parking problems, especially on Parthala road, were also discussed," said Umesh Sharma, RWA president of Sector 122.
Sharma also pointed out frequent incidents of anti-social elements entering the sector by jumping boundary walls and requested special measures for the safety of women, elderly, and children. "Emphasis was also laid on increasing the number of CCTV cameras and strengthening night patrolling," he said.

Hostel manager, aide held for blackmailing NEET aspirant
Kanpur: A 21-year-old student who was preparing for NEET while staying in a hostel in Kanpur was blackmailed by her manager and her co-worker through an obscene video. Subsequently, the student met ACP Kalyanpur and informed him of the entire situation. The victim said that she had paid the blackmail amount from her tuition fees and pocket money, giving Rs 50,000 initially and then Rs 10,000. The hostel manager is an influential person and threatened her on the way. ACP Abhishek Pandey stated that both accused were arrested based on the student's complaint, and investigations are ongoing. The ACP said that the police seized mobile phones and other electronic devices from the accused. "We are conducting a thorough forensic analysis of the devices to determine if there are other victims," he stated. The police have also sealed the hostel premises pending further investigation. Both accused have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. Police sources indicate that more charges might be added as the investigation progresses.

2,110 passengers penalised for violations of railway rules in ECR till May 31
Patna: Aimed at improving punctuality of passenger trains and ensuring women's safety, the East Central Railway (ECR) conducted a special drive under 'samay palan' (punctuality) and 'mahila suraksha' (women's safety) across its five divisions from May 16 to May 31. The drive resulted in the penalisation of 2,110 passengers for violations under the Railway Act. According to ECR's chief public relations officer (CPRO), altogether 522 people were booked under Section 141 of the Railway Act for unauthorised alarm chain pulling (ACP), an offence that disrupts train services and causes unnecessary delays. Additionally, 1,588 persons were fined under Section 162 of the Railway Act for unlawfully entering or travelling in coaches reserved for women, he said. The Danapur division of the ECR emerged with the highest number of offenders, registering 238 ACP cases and 856 violations under the Mahila Suraksha drive, while Samastipur division followed with 112 ACP cases and 114 Mahila Suraksha violations, and Sonepur division recorded72 ACP and 306 Mahila Suraksha cases. Similarly Dhanbad division reported 51 ACP cases and 185 Mahila Suraksha violations, while Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya (DDU) division registered 49 ACP cases and 127 Mahila Suraksha offences, the CPRO said. The CPRO said such drives are crucial to improve the travel experience as well as ensuring the safety of women passengers. "Our efforts are directed at enforcing discipline among passengers and creating a safer and more punctual railway environment," he said adding, the ECR plans to continue such drives periodically to deter unruly behaviour and maintain decorum across the railway network in the ECR jurisdiction .

Two men arrested after video of stunts with Fortuner near Amity University goes viral
Hours after a video showing two young men speeding and performing stunts in a Toyota Fortuner near Amity University in Noida went viral, they were arrested and the car was seized, police said on Wednesday. According to the police, the two men were performing dangerous stunts in the SUV, bearing an Uttar Pradesh registration number, near Gate Number 1 of the university in Noida Sector 125. A video of the incident went viral on Tuesday. 'We learnt that the public was facing inconvenience in commuting,' said Sumit Shukla, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Noida. Shukla said the stunts had also led to traffic congestion in the area, after which the two men were identified and taken into police custody.
