Police had been searching for a stolen RAV4 since it was used in connection to the theft of a second vehicle, a white 2008 Toyota Kluger, from a Taylor Street service station about 5.30am on Friday.
It had been sighted several times throughout Friday and was linked to a carjacking on Hume Street, where a man was approached by an offender armed with a knife.
The offender demanded the man's keys to his white 2019 Mazda 2 hatchback (Qld rego 695LE9), and he complied.
At about 1pm the RAV4 was sighted speeding north on Ruthven Street.
Dashcam footage obtained by the Chronicle shows the RAV4 driving into oncoming traffic.
A short time later the vehicle crashed at the intersection of West and Russell Street, flipping onto its roof in the centre of the roundabout.
Police swarmed the intersection and arrested the 16-year-old.
The 16-year-old boy was held in custody through the weekend, charged with 34 offences.
These included breaking into 17 homes and businesses, five counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and one count of dangerous driving.
The boy will face the Toowoomba Childrens Court on Monday.
Police investigations into Friday's robberies continue and anyone with information, including dashcam footage, is urged to contact police.

Young man, 18, killed after rollover Mackay

Don't miss out on the headlines from Townsville. Followed categories will be added to My News. An 18-year-old boy has been killed in a car crash west of Mackay. Emergency crews responded to reports of a single car rollover on Mount Martin Gap Rd in Mount Martin at 6.30 on Wednesday. Police said the boy's vehicle 'left the roadway and rolled a number of times'. The teen was the only person in the car, and was declared deceased at the scene. He is the fifth teenager to be killed in a crash near Mackay since July 18. Liam Doumergue, T-Jay Petrass and Eleanor Cunington — all 19 – were coming home from a night of tenpin bowling when they crashed into a Great Wall Ute around 10:30pm Friday, July 18, on the Mackay Ring Road. Liam and T-Jay were lifelong best friends who were farewelled in a shared funeral service, their coffins laid side-by-side. Their friend Eleanor was reconnecting with them after spending a year abroad on the night of the fatal crash. Andrew 'Drew' Lelliott, 18, was the passenger in a Toyota HiLux when it left the Peak Downs Highway and crashed into a power pole near the turn off to Moranbah about 11.30am, August 8. Drew's mum Vakaloloma Lelliott and his 'second mum' Stephanie Wailes shared that those who knew him best held onto his strength and love. 'He just has charisma. Anyone that had met him, it didn't matter how much time you spent with him, you were never going to forget him,' Steph said. 'He is the life of the party and he's the one that kept it going.' The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the Mount Martin crash. Anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam vision is urged to contact police. AFL 2025: Former player tests positive for performance enhancing substance, anti-doping policy, Sport Integrity Australia, latest news

Don't miss out on the headlines from AFL. Followed categories will be added to My News. A former AFL player reportedly tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance while playing in a lower-level competition following the end of his professional career. The player, who finished his AFL career in 2023, has this year been placed under provisional suspension, per Code Sports. It's understood the player tested positive while playing in a lower-level league last year, and despite having put an end to his professional career by that stage, could still be tested under the AFL's Anti-Doping Code within 12 months of his AFL exit. The player's test was undertaken by Sport Integrity Australia; the governing body, formerly known as ASADA, which aims to preserve fairness at all levels of Australian sport. Under the AFL Anti-Doping Code, if a player intentionally takes a prohibited substance to gain an advantage, they are subject to a maximum ban of four years. Local leagues, including the state competitions, are held to the same rules. In late 2024, ex-Melbourne player Joel Smith was suspended four years by SIA for cocaine use and trafficking after turning up a positive result on a matchday test in August 2023. But unlike Smith's circumstances, Niall reports the unnamed player in question's alleged breach was 'for a substance that is banned both in and outside the competition'. He noted also that positive results for performance-enhancing drugs were 'extremely rare' in the AFL, as cases of positive tests for illicit substances are more common. Then-Collingwood players Josh Thomas and Lachie Keeffe copped two-year bans in 2015 after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. The 'Essendon 34' that were banned for the 2016 season after four years' worth of investigation did not return positive tests for a banned substance but rather were suspended on circumstantial evidence they were administered with a banned substance.
