With the 13th overall pick in the POD Community Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select...
Will Johnson, cornerback out of Michigan
Here's nrs001 explaining the pick:
Dolphins brought in some names like Westbrook-Ikhine WR, Daniels G, and Melifonwu S during free agency. They still have some holes at guard, cornerback, and safety. 13 is a little to rich to be taking a guard. The Dolphins cut ties with Kendall Fuller this offseason leaving a hole across from Jalen Ramsey. With a run on WR and OT this allowed the board to fall favorably for the Dolphins. Travis Hunter may end up being the top cornerback, however this allowed both Will Johnson and Jahdae Barron to both fall to the Dolphins.
The Dolphins selected cornerback Will Johnson and here is why. He is a big corner with smooth hips. He's not afraid to play press on the line. He's got pretty good instincts. With Ramsey and Johnson, the Dolphins could have two top-tier cornerbacks that could lock down the outside for the next few seasons. Dolphins can look to fill some of the other needs later in the draft. The Dolphins will be chasing the Bills in this division. Having two top-tier cornerbacks will put them in a good spot to chase the top of their division.

Ex-Steeler Minkah Fitzpatrick gets new jersey number ahead of Dolphins training camp
Fresh numbers 🔥 The more things change, the more they stay the same — and that's especially true for ex-Steelers FS Minkah Fitzpatrick's new jersey number with the Miami Dolphins. On Tuesday, the Dolphins took to social media to reveal what number Fitzpatrick and several other new players will wear — and the former Steeler will return to wearing No. 29 in 2025. Fitzpatrick wore No. 29 at Alabama and continued the trend after being drafted by the Dolphins in 2018 — before being traded to the Steelers just two games into his second season in the league. Pittsburgh's former safety was part of a blockbuster deal that saw the Steelers trade him and a late-round pick swap in exchange for All-Pro CB Jalen Ramsey and Pro Bowl TE Jonnu Smith — two talented playmakers expected to play versatile roles this season. Dolphins tight end Darren Waller to begin 2025 training camp on physically unable to perform list
Looks like the Miami Dolphins plan to ease in Darren Waller slowly. The recently unretired tight end will begin the 2025 training camp on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list alongside offensive lineman Liam Eichenburg, the team announced late Tuesday afternoon. Safety Ifeatu Melifonwu was also placed on the non-football injury list. Waller last suited up for the New York Giants in 2023. An early July trade brought the one-time Pro Bowler to the Dolphins. In his first appearance donning the aqua and orange, Waller mentioned the presence of offensive coordinator Frank Smith played a key role in the decision to return to the NFL. Smith was Waller's tight end coach during his back-to-back breakout years in 2019 and 2020. 'Frank is my guy, man,' Waller said Tuesday, adding that 'some of my best football memories overall' came during his time with Smith. 'When I got claimed off the Ravens practice squad in 2018, I got to the Raiders and he was my tight ends coach. He me at the door and one of the first things he was interested in was what do I need as a man in my newfound sobriety.' That interaction 'struck' Waller and the two began to build a relationship beyond X's and O's — although that part certainly wasn't lacking. The eight-year veteran called the ability to 'reconnect' with Smith an 'amazing' opportunity. 'Just his knowledge of the game,' Waller continued. 'The culture that he created not only in our room but just with how he interacted with players I thought was rare in coaches I had seen to that point. Some of the best years in my career were with him in the room and just , so to be able to reconnect with him is amazing.' In a flurry of other moves, the Dolphins waived quarterback Brett Gabbert and signed offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill. A 66 game starter with the San Francisco 49ers and Tennessee Titans, Brunskill brings experience and versatility to an offensive line room in need of depth. The six-year veteran registered the majority of his snaps at right guard yet has suited up at every position along the line.

Dark Horse NFL Job Has Been Mentioned For Nick Saban
Dark Horse NFL Job Has Been Mentioned For Nick Saban originally appeared on The Spun. Nick Saban has retired from coaching and indicated no interest in returning. Alas, pundits keep guessing where Saban could coach next. Speculation has surfaced about Saban pursuing a comeback after a year away from the sidelines. Former quarterback Greg McElroy, who played under Saban at Alabama, sparked the flames when claiming a notable source believes the 73-year-old will coach again. The chatter has shifted beyond college and toward a possible return to the NFL. Paul Finebaum pitched a Miami Dolphins reunion last week, and two Fox Sports recent personalities made their cases for two AFC North rivals. Colin Cowherd said Tuesday that the Cleveland Browns should hire Saban to coach Arch Manning if they land the No. 1 draft pick next year. While Nick Wright would "definitely" consider Saban if he ran an NFL franchise, he doesn't see the seven-time national champion taking on a long-term project. "If I'm Nick Saban and I want to do this, I'm not that interested in a top-down rebuild," Wright said on The Herd. "I'm much more interested in, I got three or four years. Let me see if I can have a contender immediately." Wright suggested that Saban could instead make sense for the Cincinnati Bengals if they stumble in 2025. "I think the Bengals, who if they miss the playoffs again will probably be looking for a new head coach, I think they can be an attractive one," he said. Most coaches would love the opportunity to work with Joe Burrow. Saban knows the quarterback pretty well, as he ran roughshod over the SEC when leading LSU to a national championship during a historically dominant 2019 season. Burrow has already guided the Bengals to an AFC title, but they've missed the playoffs in consecutive 9-8 seasons. While Burrow returned from a wrist injury to amass 4,918 passing yards and 43 touchdowns last season, the defense finished 25th in points and yards allowed. Head coach Zac Taylor could spend his seventh season on the hot seat if Cincinnati doesn't revert into a title contender. Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean Saban is next in line to take the Horse NFL Job Has Been Mentioned For Nick Saban first appeared on The Spun on Jul 22, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jul 22, 2025, where it first appeared.
