Sheikh Mohammed launches Ramadan campaign on behalf of all fathers in UAE
The Dubai Ruler said that in keeping with the annual custom of launching a humanitarian Ramadan campaign from the people of the UAE, announced the campaign titled 'Fathers' Endowment'.
"The father is the first role model, the first support, and the first teacher. He is the source of strength, wisdom, and security in our lives, young and old," Sheikh Mohammed said in a post on X.
"Our role is to celebrate them in this blessed month through an ongoing charity in a sustainable humanitarian endowment in the name of our fathers, the proceeds of which will be allocated to treating patients and providing healthcare for the poor, needy and unable to pay," he further said in the post.

Along with a heartwarming video, the leader shared a message for residents of UAE. "We invite everyone to participate in this endowment," he said.

Last year, Sheikh Mohammed launched the Mothers' Endowment campaign to honour mothers by establishing an endowment fund at a value of Dh1 billion.
Launched under the umbrella of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and coinciding with the holy month of Ramadan, the campaign honoured mothers by allowing contributors to make donations in their names. It also aimed to support underprivileged individuals and communities in a sustainable way through education.
And it received an overwhelming response with companies and individuals making massive contributions to the campaign.

Sheikh Mohammed shared on X: "Today, the UAE celebrated 810,000 students from 1,380 schools who participated in the Arab Reading Challenge, which has engaged over 32 million students globally. I thank my brother Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed for his patronage of this important national student initiative. 'Congratulations to Reem Adel Al Zarouni of Al Ittihad National School in Abu Dhabi for her exceptional performance, surpassing 800,000 other students. During the challenge, she read 300 books and demonstrated a remarkable understanding of their content.' 'I am proud of the participation of UAE students and delighted by this generation's passion for reading. The future of our nation is secure in the hands of a generation that embraces knowledge and reading." This came on the occasion of crowning Mariam Adel Ahmad Al Zarouni as the UAE-level Arab Reading Challenge Champion in its 9th edition, during a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) at the Dubai World Trade Centre to mark the end of UAE-level qualifiers of the Challenge. The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Education, Human Resources and Community Development Council. Speaking at the ceremony, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed said, "Crowning the UAE-level Arab Reading Challenge champion is a celebration of the nation's investment in its youth, yielding a harvest of success and achievement. This achievement stemmed from the visionary initiative of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and has resulted in a generation embracing reading as a path to excellence and innovation." During the ceremony, Sheikh Abdullah crowned Mariam Adel Ahmad Al Zarouni from Al Ittihad National Private School - Abu Dhabi as the UAE-level Arab Reading Challenge Champion, and honoured the top three students who won the final UAE-level qualifying rounds and the People of Determination category. The competition involves multiple elimination rounds, culminating in the selection of champions who have read, summarised, and demonstrated comprehension of 50 books. The competition progresses from the classroom to the school, district, and country levels, ultimately leading to the selection of national champions from participating countries, both within the Arab world and internationally. Distinguished champions and schools are selected based on comprehensive, standardised criteria. In the People of Determination category, participants are required to read 25 UAE has consistently demonstrated strong participation and achieved significant milestones in the Arab Reading Challenge. Notably, Amna Mohammed Al Mansouri won the title in the 2023 seventh edition, which saw 24.8 million students from 46 countries participate. Al Ebdaa School - Cycle 1 received the Best School award in the eighth edition, involving over 28 million students from 50 countries. In the fifth edition, with over 21 million participants from 52 countries, Moza Al Ghannah earned the Outstanding Supervisor award. The ninth edition of the Arab Reading Challenge, an initiative of MBRGI, achieved record participation with 32.231 million students from 132,112 schools in 50 countries, guided by 161,004 supervisors. Launched in the 2015-2016 academic year under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Arab Reading Challenge aims to promote reading among students, within the Arab world as well as globally, and cultivate creative thinking. Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation's efforts praised
The Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation held its annual meeting in the presence of Sheikha Jameela Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Chairperson of Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services (SCHS), where she reviewed the key statistics and outcomes of programmes and projects achieved during 2024. These efforts contributed to supporting 2,769 orphans and 1,186 families across Sharjah and its affiliated regions, in addition to empowering 170 newly enrolled orphans, bringing the total number of empowered children by year-end to 2,035. Al Qasimi expressed her appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Sharjah Social Empowerment Foundation, underscoring the importance of sustaining humanitarian work that enhances the quality of life for orphans. She said, 'What the Foundation delivers reflects a deep humanitarian commitment. These achievements are not just numbers; they are success stories that inspire us to continue giving. Empowerment is not limited to financial support—it includes capacity building and boosting self-confidence, which the Foundation has successfully achieved through its comprehensive programmes.' For her part, Mona Bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Foundation, expressed her gratitude for the presence of Sheikha Jameela at the meeting, affirming that the achievements reflect the Foundation's vision to empower children and their families, drawing inspiration from the guidance and support of His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. She added, 'The year 2024 marked a pivotal milestone in which the Foundation accomplished qualitative achievements across various empowerment domains, with international participation in prestigious events such as the United Nations' Summit of the Future and other scientific and educational conferences. We were also honoured with the Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd Award for Best Charity Performance in the Arab World.' Al Suwaidi confirmed that these accomplishments are the result of an effective strategy and the continuous support of the wise leadership and generous partners from individuals and institutions. The Foundation reaffirmed its full commitment to global quality standards and its continued implementation of certified quality management systems. This comes within the scope of maintaining its ISO9001:2015 Quality Management System certification, ensuring the best practices in delivering services to beneficiaries. In 2024, the total expenditures provided to families amounted to approximately Dhs27 million. A total of 1,169 families and 2,744 children benefited from zakat funds and Ramadan provisions during the holy month. The 'Iftar Project' supported 248 families and 772 children through contributions from hotels, restaurants, and community members, who helped provide meal vouchers for orphan families. Ramadan gifts were given to nine newly enrolled families and 20 children, while the 'Eid Sweets' project during Eid Al Adha reached 199 families and 515 children. Additionally, 327 children were gifted 'Eidiya' under the Eid gift project to complete their festive experience. The Foundation also supported orphans and their families through sponsorship projects, including the sponsorship of 331 orphans via the 'Sponsor an Orphan' project and 226 families via the 'Sponsor a Family' initiative. Moreover, urgent financial support to relieve hardships exceeded Dhs2 million through the 'Jabr' (Relief) project. The education of students enrolled in the Foundation was supported through 585 education sponsorships, bringing the total number of sponsored students to 1,913 by the end of 2024. Also, 277 wishes were fulfilled through the 'Sidrat Al-Amani' (Tree of Wishes) project, raising the total number of fulfilled wishes since the project's launch to 3,666. A total of 1,058 students benefited from tuition fee payments and 99 students received educational devices. The Foundation awarded eight university scholarships and honoured 34 outstanding students, in addition to organising 10 Umrah trips. Educational support lessons benefited 156 students, while nine students with learning difficulties were also supported. Dubai's 'Al Freej Fridge' campaign is set to distribute 2 million bottles of cold water, juices, and frozen treats to outdoor workers this summer. The initiative aims to help protect workers from the extreme heat by providing them with easy access to cold refreshments. Running until August 23, the campaign focuses on workers such as cleaners, construction staff, delivery drivers, and landscapers who spend long hours outdoors under the sun. These workers play an important role in keeping the city functioning. Refrigerated trucks travel across Dubai to deliver cold drinks directly to workers at their outdoor job sites. In addition, fixed refrigerators stocked with water, juices, and frozen treats have been installed in workers' accommodations to increase accessibility. The campaign is organized by Ferjan Dubai with support from the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI). Key partners include the UAE Water Aid Foundation (Suqia), which supplies bottled water, and the UAE Food Bank, which provides warehouse facilities, refrigerated trucks, and volunteer support. Volunteers from various parts of the community assist in distributing the refreshments, often using their own vehicles. The first edition of the campaign in 2024 successfully delivered 1 million bottles of cold drinks, with support from both government and private sectors. The 'Al Freej Fridge' campaign highlights collaborative efforts to provide practical support for workers during Dubai's hot summer months, ensuring their health and wellbeing are protected.
