E-hailing driver, Singaporean passenger die in Johor Baru crash
North Johor Baru district police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh said the incident occurred at about 11.27am when a car driven by a 48-year-old local man was believed to have lost control before hitting the left rear of a lorry.
"The car, believed to be travelling from Johor Baru to Skudai, was carrying a 27-year-old Singaporean male passenger.
"As a result of the collision, the car driver suffered serious head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene, while his passenger died while receiving treatment at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA), Johor Bahru," he said in a statement today.
Meanwhile, he said the lorry driver, a 28-year-old local man, did not suffer any injuries.
He added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
He also called on the public with information regarding the incident to contact the Investigating Officer, Inspector Zulhisyam Aziz at 019-7432966 to assist in the investigation.

Three killed, three injured in crash on PLUS Highway near Tapah
IPOH: Three senior citizens were killed and three others injured in a collision involving two vehicles at Kilometre 328.9 of the southbound PLUS Highway near the Tapah–Bidor stretch today. Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Sabarozi Nor Ahmad said the department received a distress call at 11.19am and deployed a team of seven firefighters to the scene. The deceased were identified as Chong Ong, 77; Teh Kim Kai, 76; and Tan Ah Tak, 70. "The crash involved a Toyota Vios and a Proton X50. "The impact caused the Toyota Vios to veer off to the grassy area on the left side of the highway, while the Proton X50 spun and crashed into the left-side guardrail. "Three passengers in the Proton X50 died at the scene. Two of them were thrown from the vehicle due to the crash," he said. The driver and front passenger of the Proton X50 were injured and sent to Tapah Hospital for treatment. "The Vios driver will be brought to the Tapah magistrate's court tomorrow for a remand application," he added. Police are urging witnesses to contact Traffic Investigating Officer Inspector Mohd Faizan Ahmad @ Mohammed Razikin at 05-4011222 or 013-2087919. The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death.

Singapore's cybersecurity firm raises concerns over transparency in Marina Bay Sands Tower 4 tender
SINGAPORE-BASED Cybersec Technology Pte Ltd has today (July 22) issued an official statement expressing serious concerns over the lack of transparency and the release of misleading information during the tender process of Marina Bay Sands (MBS) Tower 4 project. Cybersec stated that during the entire tender preparation phase, the company continuously received information from Larry Chiu who is Marina Bay Sands' international marketing president and one Yang Lixin. Whether explicit or implied, these communications clearly suggested that Cybersec had been selected as the executing party for the project. 'Based on these communications, the company firmly believed that the project was essentially confirmed,' Cybersec revealed in a statement 'Acting in good faith, Cybersec invested heavily in manpower, resources, and time — including forming a dedicated team, drafting technical proposals and organising site inspections.' However, during the formal bidding process, Cybersec was excluded from the list of qualified bidders and has not received any official clarification or explanation to date. The company claimed that the unexpected turn of events has severely impacted its operations and reputation in addition to seriously undermined the fairness and transparency that should have been upheld in the tender process. 'We solemnly warn all companies and individuals to remain alert to behaviours that use informal channels to release misleading information and manipulate market expectations,' asserted Cybersec's representative Yang Songyu. 'We've every reason to believe that certain individuals have abused their influence in the tender process to create false expectations and damage fair competition.' As it is, Cybersec stressed that it holds a large volume of evidentiary materials – including e-mail correspondence, signed agreements, draft project documents and communication records – that sufficiently demonstrate the course of misleading behaviour and the resulting broken commitments. The company also formally declared that it will fully cooperate and make all relevant materials public should regulatory authorities initiate an investigation in order to safeguard its legal rights and the fairness of the tender process. 'Marina Bay Sands Tower 4 is a major project of international interest. Transparency, fairness, and integrity are core principles that must not be compromised in its tender process,' justified Cybersec. 'We urge the relevant Singaporean authorities to intervene immediately, investigate the information mechanisms and responsibilities of the involved parties and rectify improper conduct.' Man filmed driving against traffic suffered from mental health issues, say cops
SEREMBAN: The driver of a car caught driving against traffic near here has been found to be suffering from mental health problems. Seremban OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said police detained the 57-year-old man in Banting, Selangor, after the 25-second clip went viral on Monday (July 21). "A team was formed to track down the driver after we came across the clip showing a car being driven against traffic along Jalan Tuanku Antah on Monday night. "A background check on the driver revealed that he had mental health issues and had received treatment for it," he said in a statement. ACP Mohamad Hatta said the man's wife had also lodged a report confirming this. He said the man had a valid driving license and the car had road tax and insurance coverage. The driver had, however, previously been issued a traffic summons under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for failing to adhere to traffic rules.
