Man accused of transporting female victim throughout southern Ontario, B.C., for sex services
Toronto police said they opened a human trafficking investigation in June and learned that a man allegedly deceived, coerced and controlled the victim.
The money she earned was surrendered to the suspect, police said.
The investigation resulted in the arrest of 36-year-old Jaden Grant-Vanderland on July 10.
He has been charged with trafficking in persons by recruiting, trafficking in persons by exercising control, material benefit from sexual services, procuring or exercising control, advertising another person's sexual services, procuring or recruiting a person to provide sexual services for consideration and financial/material benefit/trafficking person over 18.
Police are concerned there may be more victims and have released an image of the suspect.
'Police would like to encourage all affected individuals to come forward and report human trafficking occurrences to the police. We want to ensure everyone has access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of their decision to proceed criminally,' they said.

Okotoks RCMP are asking for public assistance to help them identify a suspect in a parking garage theft. Suspect charged in break-in at Sundance community centre
Police are trying to locate a suspect in a break in at a community centre in Sundance on July 18. One of the suspects in a July break-in at a community centre in Sundance has been identified and charged. On July 18 around 4:20 a.m., two men are alleged to have forced their way into the storage garage of the Lake Sundance community centre at 63 Suncrest Way S.E. Police believe the suspects took a 2024 Gator utility vehicle and drove it into an alley about two block north, near Sunhurst Crescent S.E. They left it there for about 48 hours before coming back and loading it onto a flatbed trailer hitched to a pickup truck, before leaving the area heading north. Police have charged a 62-year-old man with one count of break-and-enter and commit. The man is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 4. Police are asking for public assistance to help them identify and locate the second suspect. He's described as a man with a light complexion and slight build. He was last seen wearing dark-coloured cuffed work gloves and coveralls, and black boots. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234. Suspects stole over US$2 million from a jewelry store in Seattle. SEATTLE — Smash-and-grab thieves in Seattle made off with an estimated US$2 million in diamonds, luxury watches, gold and other items in a daring midday jewellery store robbery that took just about 90 seconds, police said Friday. Video from the West Seattle store's surveillance cameras shows four masked suspects shattering the locked glass front door with hammers and then ransacking six display cases Thursday. One display held around US$750,000 worth in Rolex watches, police said in a statement, and another had an emerald necklace valued at US$125,000. A masked suspect threatened workers with bear spray and a Taser, police said, but no one was injured. 'We're pretty shook up as a staff,' Josh Menashe, vice president of the family-owned store, said by phone Friday. 'We're gonna be closed for a while.' Menashe said workers finished cleaning up the broken glass and were working on a full inventory of the losses.
