A Guide To The "Buffy The Vampire Slayer " Reboot
It's been over 20 years since we said goodbye to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but the iconic show's legacy still lives on today. The supernatural YA drama series, which aired from 1997 to 2003, stars Sarah Michelle Gellar as Buffy Summers, a teenage girl who's chosen by fate to battle vampires, demons, and other supernatural forces. With a little help from her friends, she juggles her life as a Sunnydale High School student along with her sacred destiny as the "Slayer." Now, there's a new generation of slayers on the way. A Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot is officially in the works at Hulu. Michelle Trachtenberg will always hold a special place in Buffy fans' hearts. While details about the series are still largely being kept under wraps, there's already plenty to get excited about. Here's everything we know about the Buffy reboot so far: Sarah Michelle Gellar will reprise her role as Buffy Summers and serve as an executive producer. Here's a behind-the-scenes update she shared. It looks like a table read for the pilot! 👀 "I have always listened to the fans and heard your desire to revisit Buffy and her world, but it was not something I could do unless I was sure we would get it right," Gellar wrote in an Instagram post in February. "This has been a long process, and it's not over yet. I promise you, we will only make this show if we know we can do it right. And I will tell you that we are on the path there.' "Thank you to all the fans who never stopped asking for this," Gellar added. "This will be for you." Ryan Kiera Armstrong has been cast as the lead Slayer. Per TVLine, her character Nova (which may be a placeholder name) is described as a "cerebral" 16-year-old who is "very smart and a bit of a loner." Gellar's role is expected to be recurring, with 15-year-old Armstrong serving as the new protagonist. Armstrong has previously had roles on Anne with an E, American Horror Story: Red Tide, and the Disney+ series Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. In May, Armstrong took to Instagram to celebrate her big news, writing, "i'm so beyond thankful and excited to share that i am going to be apart of the BTVS universe!!! i am so excited for this journey with you @sarahmgellar i am in awe of you. ... i'm still in so much shock and disbelief." "From the moment I saw Ryan's audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side," Gellar wrote in an Instagram post of her own. "To have that kind of emotional intelligence , and talent, at such a young age is truly a gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room." In July, five new cast additions were announced: Faly Rakotohavana as Hugo, Ava Jean as Larkin, Sarah Bock as Gracie, Daniel di Tomasso as Abe, and Jack Cutmore-Scott as Mr. Burke. Viewers might recognized Bock from Severance and Cutmore-Scott from Frasier and Oppenheimer (2023)! Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao, who's known for her work on Nomadland (2020) and the MCU's Eternals (2021), will serve as the director and co-EP. Additional executive producers attached to the pilot include Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, OG Buffy EPs Gail Berman and Fran and Kaz Kuzui, along with Dolly Parton (whose production company Sandollar was a producer on the original series). Gellar, who was previously against doing a Buffy revival, credits Zhao personally for changing her mind. "Every pitch I heard was just like, 'Let's just do Buffy again,'" she said in an interview with Elite Daily. "Why? But the passion that [Zhao] came to me with, what she wanted to do with the show and the character, and why Buffy is needed now — it was the first time where I thought, 'OK, there's a reason.'" "Three years ago, I got a call from my dear friend and mentor, Gail Berman," Gellar wrote in an Instagram post. "She told me that she wanted me to sit down with Chloé Zhao to hear her take on a potential Buffy revival. I was blown away that Chloé even knew who I was, but, as I've always done, I told Gail that I just didn't see a way for the show to exist again. We'd always been aligned on that, but this time I heard something different in her voice. I eventually agreed to go (mainly just to meet Chloé) and our twenty minute coffee quickly turned into a four hour adventure. We laughed, we cried, but mostly we both talked about how much this show means to us." 4. Buffy creator Joss Whedon will not be involved with the reboot. Christina Carpenter wants to reprise her role as Cordelia Chase after her character's "unjust" ending on the spin-off Angel... "I am so excited for fans, and I know it will be fantastic because of who's involved," Carpenter said of the reboot in an interview with IGN. "To see this actually happen for the fans makes me thrilled. I am so hopeful to be included, for Cordelia to be a part of this new iteration." ...which may work out, because Gellar wants to bring characters back from the dead! "We will try to find a balance between new and old characters," she said in an interview with Vanity Fair. "My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well." Expect the tone to be different. "It will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original," Gellar told Vanity Fair. "We're trying to figure out how to modernize the themes of the series, especially what it means to feel like an outsider in a world dominated by social media," Gellar added. "What we want to explore are the space-time boundaries that affect society today." The reboot will honor the late Michelle Trachtenberg, who played Buffy's sister Dawn. "We'll be able to do something," Gellar said in an interview with Parade. "We'll do what's appropriate." It hasn't yet been confirmed which original cast members will return. But, based on this cryptic Instagram post, fans think there's a pretty good possibility Alyson Hannigan will reprise her role as Willow Rosenberg. IYKYK. 💔 Finally, Gellar revealed that the children of some OG cast members auditioned for the reboot. 👀 "I know somebody who was on the show whose child auditioned on the show,' she teased to US Weekly. "I know a few people from the show whose children came in." All seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer are available to stream on Hulu.

Chicago Med Season 11 BTS Photos Confirm Returning Stars, And I Hope The Poses Are Signs Of Things To Come
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Just days after NBC confirmed Law & Order: Organized Crime's return to Thursdays, the double dose of Jimmy Fallon this fall, and when new seasons of all three One Chicago shows will premiere in the 2025 TV schedule, some behind-the-scenes photos from Chicago Med preview the cast getting back to work. While it's definitely good to get a peek at the action while the weeks count down until Season 11, the particular stars showcased in these photos leave me really hoping that they indicate characters who will share big storylines. The photos were snapped by Jessy Schram, a.k.a. the actress behind Hannah Asher as the ED's OB/GYN. Posted by the One Chicago Instagram account, the most notable thing about them somehow isn't seeing these cast members wearing clothes other than scrubs. Take a look: The official account didn't provide any context to the caption that "Things are happening over at Chicago Med" or the Wolf Entertainment comment that "Routine is back," and we may have to wait until Season 11 arrives on Wednesdays this fall to see what exactly they were hinting at. Personally, I'm going to hope that the first photo indicates that we'll see plenty more of whatever is happening with Ripley (Luke Mitchell), Hannah (Schram), and Archer (Steven Weber), and that the second photo suggests a bond forming between Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) and Lenox (Sarah Ramos). Now, it's not exactly a massive One Chicago mystery as to whether we'll see more of Ripley, Hannah, and Archer after how the tear-jerking Season 10 finale ended. Whether the cliffhanger was Hannah going to Archer for a shoulder to lean on about Ripley or the baby bombshell was bigger than anybody could have guessed, these three characters overlap. I'm on board for more, and it certainly looks like Jessy Schram was enjoying hanging out with her costars when she snapped the photo. I'm actually more intrigued by the second picture with Sarah Ramos and Oliver Platt seated next to each other. Ramos' character, Dr. Lenox, learned in the Season 10 finale that she tested positive for the genetic prion disease that would eventually kill her. While a deleted scene initially made me want to see Lenox bonding with Hannah in Season 11, Dr. Charles as a sympathetic ear could be what Lenox needs in her difficult time... assuming she'd be willing to open up, anyway. (The finale is available streaming with a Peacock subscription now.) I could see it working, especially if he officially becomes her psychiatrist and doctor/patient confidentiality applies. Whether or not it's 100% ethical for the two coworkers to interact as doctor and patient is up for debate, but Dr. Charles was bending the rules in some big ways in Season 10, and realism is never guaranteed in One Chicago. Lenox needs somebody she can lean on, and she didn't seem inclined to confide in Archer at the end of Season 10. Maybe Dr. Charles is the right person. Or maybe the seating arrangements in the photos were entirely random, and I'm getting my hopes up for some Lenox/Dr. Charles scenes for nothing! Whatever the case, there is an end date in sight for summer hiatus. Chicago Med will return for Season 11 on Wednesday, October 1 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, ahead of Chicago Fire at 9 p.m. ET and Chicago P.D. at 10 p.m. ET. In the meantime, you can also revisit all three seasons streaming on Peacock. Solve the daily Crossword

The Challenge Premiere: Cara Maria Sorbello Breaks Down That ‘Wild' First Challenge, Why [Spoiler] Was Eliminated
The Challenge: Vets and New Threats! New threats have officially invaded The Challenge! More from TVLine Destination X Winner Revealed! Grade Season 1 and the Finale Leanne Morgan Tees Up Her Netflix Comedy From EP Chuck Lorre, Reveals How Her Real-Life Husband Feels About TV Hubby Ryan Stiles NBC Reveals Fall Premiere Dates for #OneChicago, SVU and More - Plus, Organized Crime Returns! In the competition series' Season 41 premiere, 16 veterans are each paired with a rookie partner for a rough-and-tumble battle for all the glory. And with most of the early housekeeping having been taken care of in the Day Zero launch special, this episode hurls us directly into the season's first challenge, which sees players diving into a huge mud pit to collect balls worth varying degrees of points. The kicker? Partners are tied together and must move in tandem. 'The hardest part about this type of challenge is just making use of the area that you're in,' two-time winner Cara Maria Sorbello tells TVLine. 'You could be in a muddier area, a drier area. You might have to make your way around. And then you're tied to your partner. So when you're running down, you could be going for one thing, they could be going for the other thing. I thought Jake and I did incredibly well, so I was actually surprised when they counted the balls. I was like, 'What the heck?' I thought we crushed it, and then as soon as I come out and I look at everybody else's baskets and I'm like, 'Holy hell, how did they do this?' I heard people were kicking balls to each other, people were partnering up, so I don't know, it was a wild one. It was tough, but I like that. I like the type of challenges where you have to grind it out.' This season, the Top 8 teams of each challenge will earn and accumulate points. The results of 'Mud Ball Madness' are as follows: Nia and Justin (came in 8th place, earned 1 point), Leroy and Sydney (7th place, 2 points), Ashley and Gabe (6th place, 3 points), Michaela and Will (5th place, 4 points), Olivia and Cedric (4th place, 5 points), Theo and Izzy (3rd place, 6 points), Aviv and Yeremi (2nd place, 7 points) and Bananas and Dee (1st place, 8 points). Bananas and Dee win safety, along with the power to save one team from elimination. As for Rogan and Adrienne, last place sends them directly into to the Arena. TJ flips a coin to determine whether it's going to be a male or female elimination, and unfortunately for Rogan, he's doomed to hit the sand. New threat Justin is then voted in to join him. In 'Intertia,' players must maneuver a large hamster wheel-like contraption along a three-bump track. The first person to get down the track and back wins and stays in the game. But the elimination turns out to be a lot harder than it looks. 'Looking at what this is off the bat, I'm thinking, 'Oh my God, Justin doesn't stand a chance,'' says Sorbello. 'He's a little peanut in this hamster cage. All Rogan has to do is give one hard ram into it and he's a rugby player, you know? Game over. This thing's gonna flop around and he's got this in two seconds. And boy was I wrong!' A totally spent Rogan doesn't have what it takes, and underestimated Cheer vet Justin wins the elimination and his Challenge stripes in one fell swoop. 'It took a really long time. It was really frustrating,' Sorbello continues. 'I know Rogan got gassed because I think Rogan was going for pure brutality and strength, and Justin didn't have that. So he had to be creative. He had gymnastics and he had cheerleading, and he started using a really good strategy and did it just the way it was supposed to be [done], and with a little flair too, to be honest.'
