Junior Spurs defeat Black Medal FC at KaBokweni Stadium
In a thrilling start, both teams fought for dominance in the opening 15 minutes. Medal's defence was breached when Sibusiso Metane scored in the 18th minute, assisted by Tsepiso Mokoena of Spurs. Spurs continued to press for a second goal, but their well-constructed attack was denied by Medal's goalkeeper, Ayanda Khumalo, in the 27th minute.
Before the half-time break, Medal's Phiwokuhle Mamba and Samkelo Mazibuko missed two clear chances to level the score. At the break, Spurs led 1-0. Mcallen Nkosi of Medal equalised in the 46th minute, finishing a pass from Mamba after Spurs' Simphiwe Zulu committed a reckless foul just outside the box.

With the score level at 1-1 by the 60th minute, Medal pushed forward in search of a second goal, but Spurs countered effectively, using their wingers to launch attacks and win several corners. In the 71st minute, Lindelani Silinda restored Spurs' lead with a well-worked goal, assisted by Vuyo Thwala.
The move followed a corner delivered by Ace Mkhwatshwa, bringing the score to 2-1. The first yellow card of the game was shown to Mamba for time-wasting after he kicked the ball out of play following the referee's whistle.
The second caution was issued to Lindelani Sifunda of Medal for fouling a Spurs player just outside their own box. The match ended 2-1 in favour of Junior Spurs FC.

Black Medal FC coach Mancoba Sibiya expressed disappointment with the result after his side created several scoring opportunities in the second half.
'It is a heart-breaking loss, I did not expect it. We were at home in front of our fans, but, at the end of the day, we fell short 2-1. We did not score goals with the chances we made. We have to go back to training and organise the forwards and strikers to improve and be more clinical,' said Sibiya.

Junior Spurs FC's coach, Xolani Sikhode, said he opted for five defenders to ensure they secured the three points away from home. 'I want to tell the truth – I'm disappointed in the boys, even though they won. They conceded a soft goal, and we were supposed to score a lot more. I used that defence because I didn't want to concede. Looking at our opponents, they made more chances than we did,' said Sikhode.

Potso Mohami's rise as a Powerhouse in women's football administration
SEDIBENG.- This week, Sedibeng Ster shines the spotlight on the remarkable journey of one of the Vaal's most influential women in football administration, Potso Mohami. From the dusty streets of Bophelong to the international stage, her story is one of passion, determination, and breaking barriers in a sport still largely dominated by men. When she started as an intern at SAFA, little did she know that one day she would be one of the powerhouse women football administrators to have come from this region. She was introduced by the then-president, Dr. Molefi Oliphant, who immediately recognised her potential. What started as a learning opportunity soon became a calling, and today, Mohami stands among the most respected football administrators in South Africa and across the continent. Currently in Kenya as one of CAF's general coordinators, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, Mohami continues to carry the SAFA flag high at major continental tournaments. From the CAF Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco to countless men's and women's competitions across Africa, her footprint in the game is undeniable. Mohami grew up in a football family. Not only that, for example, her late father, Bra Mojo, was the Bafana Bafana kit manager. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport from Kenya, Mohami said she will forever be grateful to be part of SAFA. She said she has learned a lot about football since joining SAFA. 'I was lucky that I grew up in a football family, and it ran in my blood. Our home was a clubhouse, and this is how I developed an interest in football.'

Romero replaces Son as Spurs captain
Cristian Romero has been named as Tottenham's new captain after the departure of club legend Son Heung-min. Son, who had worn the armband for the last two seasons and lifted the Europa League in May as Spurs ended their 17-year wait for a trophy, joined LAFC earlier this month. Romero had acted as vice-captain for the previous two years and started the Europa League final win over Manchester United as skipper before Son came off the bench in the second half. The 27-year-old Argentine will lead his side out when Tottenham take on European champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday. "I had a good conversation with Cuti Romero and he's going to be our captain," new Tottenham manager Thomas Frank told the official club website. "He was very honoured and very happy about it. It's a big thing and should be to lead this wonderful club out on the pitch, not just for this Super Cup, but also throughout the season. "I think he has all the right qualities. He leads from his behaviour on the pitch, driving the team forward in every way and outside the pitch he's always pushing the team."

Can Spurs shock PSG in Uefa Super Cup?
Tottenham's longer odds may be worth a punt. Tottenham Hotspur's difficult last season ended on a positive, as they beat Manchester United to lift the Uefa Europa League and qualify for the new campaign's Uefa Champions League. Another reward for Spurs is that they get to take on last season's Champions League winner Paris St Germain on Wednesday evening in the Uefa Super Cup. Spurs have had a difficult off-season, losing creative star James Maddison to a long-term injury and seeing club legend Son Heung-Min depart for Los Angeles FC in the USA. Winger Mohammed Kudus has been brought in from West Ham, while Joao Palhinha looks an astute signing in defensive midfield. But the general feeling is that Thomas Frank's side are still a little short heading into a busy season. PSG had a fantastic 2024/25 campaign under Luis Enrique, winning the Champions League for the first time, absolutely thumping Inter Milan 5-0 in the final. The French champions crashed slightly back down to earth when they lost 3-0 to Chelsea in the Fifa Club World Cup final. But they will still head into Wednesday's game at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udinese, Italy as clear favourites. The main talking point of PSG's very short pre-season has been a fallout with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who looks set to leave, and who has been left out of PSG's squad for the clash with Tottenham. PSG have signed Lucas Chevalier from Lille, and he looks set to be their number one 'keeper for the season. Spurs coach Frank has had his own problems, leaving Yves Bissouma out of his squad after the midfielder was repeatedly late for training. Betway's odds for the game reflect PSG's favourites tag, with the French side at 1.43 to Tottenham's 6.40 and a draw at 5.20. Anything can happen in a one-off match, however, as Crystal Palace showed last weekend when they took down Liverpool to lift the FA Community Shield. Chelsea exposed a frailty in PSG at left back when they took them down in the Club World Cup final. And Tottenham's Frank may well copy from Enzo Maresca's playbook. With far better bang for your buck, Spurs may just be worth a punt.
