Secretary Rollins shares her '100 days' accomplishments
She says the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has worked to support American farmers and ranchers on the southern border, hold Mexico accountable to the agreements it has made with the United States and 'ensure' illegal immigrants do not receive federal benefits.

Dairy industry pledges to remove artificial colors in school meals
Sec. Rollins has announced Acting Deputy Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services John Walk issued guidance to all state agencies directing them to ensure that illegal immigrants do not receive federal benefits. The guidance requires enhanced identity and immigration verification practices when determining eligibility for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and is one of many steps toward fulfilling President Trump's Executive Order 14218, Ending Taxpayer Subsidization of Open Borders.
Over the weekend, Sec. Rollins said she sent a letter to her counterpart in Mexico demanding Mexico 'eliminate impediments' on aircraft operations and landings that are 'critically impairing' the U.S. response to combat the ongoing spread of the New World Screwworm across Mexico, thereby preventing it from entering the United States. In addition, Secretary Rollins continues to negotiate Mexico's compliance with the 1944 Water Treaty for which they have allegedly fallen short of their water delivery commitments. As part of that, Secretary Rollins announced a $280 million grant agreement between the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) to provide 'critical economic relief' to eligible Rio Grande Valley farmers and producers suffering from Mexico's 'ongoing failure' to meet its water delivery obligations under the 1944 Water Treaty.

The Internet Is Seriously Divided On Donald Trump's Police Takeover In Washington, DC, And This Is NOT What I Expected
I'm sure you've been hearing all week about President Donald Trump's federalization of law enforcement in Washington, DC. The effort to supposedly crack down on crime came despite reports from the Justice Department and the DC Metropolitan Police, that violent crime rates in the nation's capital are down. We wrote about Trump's press conference in which he announced his administration's plan. "I'm announcing a historic action to rescue our nation's capital from crime, bloodshed, bedlam, and squalor. And worse. This is Liberation Day in DC, and we're gonna take our capital back," he said. "Under the authorities vested in me as the president of the United States, I'm officially invoking Section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act — you know what that is — and placing the DC Metropolitan Police Department under direct federal control," he went on. "Our capital city has been overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged-out maniacs, and homeless people. And we're not gonna let it happen anymore. Fed governor Cook responds after President Trump says she 'must resign'
President Trump on Wednesday called on Federal Reserve governor Lisa Cook to resign as the public pressure on the central bank continues to build. "Cook must resign, now!!!" Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, Wednesday morning. He included a link to a Bloomberg report about a letter sent by Federal Housing Finance Agency head Bill Pulte urging Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate Cook over a pair of mortgages. On Wednesday afternoon, Cook stated: "I have no intention of being bullied to step down from my position because of some questions raised in a tweet. I do intend to take any questions about my financial history seriously as a member of the Federal Reserve and so I am gathering the accurate information to answer any legitimate questions and provide the facts.' Pulte wrote in a letter dated Aug. 15 that Cook "falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms, potentially committing mortgage fraud under the criminal statute." Late Wednesday morning, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has told aides he is "considering attempting to fire" Cook. The president's call for Cook to resign comes as public pressure on the Fed continues amid ongoing changes on the Fed's Board of Governors. Last week, Trump nominated Council of Economic Advisers Chair Stephen Miran to the Fed board to fill a seat left empty by Adriana Kugler, who stepped down from the board on Aug. 8. Should Cook also step down, Trump would have the opportunity to nominate another Fed governor. The search for a replacement for Fed Chair Jerome Powell, whose term leading the central bank ends in May 2026, also continues in the background. Trump said last week that the field of possible replacements for Powell was "down to 3 or 4" candidates." Trump has repeatedly called on Powell to cut rates more aggressively, coining the nickname "Too Late" for the Fed chair. Trump first appointed Powell to the role in 2017; former President Joe Biden renominated Powell as Fed chair in 2021. He's also targeted the central bank's $2.5 billion renovation of the Federal Reserve's headquarters as a "sort of" fireable offense for the Fed chair. Trump and Powell met at the renovation site in late July as Trump once again called for Powell to lower interest rates. Powell is also a member of the Fed's Board of Governors, and his term expires in 2028. It isn't clear whether Powell will also vacate that post when his term as Fed chair ends next year. Reporting from CNBC, however, suggested up to 11 names are under consideration for Powell's role, including Jefferies chief market strategist David Zervos, who told CNBC on Wednesday that the Fed has "never been independent." The mounting discussion around Fed independence and political pressure currently being levied at the central bank comes ahead of the annual Jackson Hole Economic Symposium, which is set to feature Powell's key policy speech of the year on Friday morning.
