‘Beaten With Shoes, Threatened': Shivakumar Aide Slaps Charges Against Siddaramaiah Loyalist
A special officer to DK Shivakumar has accused special officer to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of assault in Karnataka Bhavan in the national capital.
A massive controversy erupted after a verbal altercation at the Karnataka Bhavan in Delhi escalated into serious allegations of assault, as H Anjaneya – a special officer to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar – accused C Mohan Kumar – assistant resident commissioner and special officer to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah – of attacking him with a shoe.
Anjaneya filed a formal complaint with Resident Commissioner Imkongla Jamir, demanding criminal proceedings against Kumar.
'I was beaten with a shoe, and it has hurt my honour and dignity. Conduct a criminal trial against him (Kumar) and give me justice," Anjanaya said in his complaint, news agency PTI reported.
Jamir confirmed the receipt of the complaint dated July 22 and said that due process will be followed.
In an elaborate complaint letter, Anjanaya alleged that Kumar has been systematically disrupting his work.
'He threatened to hit me with a shoe in the chamber of the office in front of everyone," he wrote.
'If any accident happens, Kumar will be responsible," Anjanaya warned in his letter.
His complaint also referred to Kumar's alleged past conduct, and claimed, 'If you look into the service books in the past, he has beaten M M Joshi and not given respect to senior officers and behaved with ego as special officer on duty for CM."
Anjanaya said that he had earlier sought a transfer from the Karnataka Bhavan primarily to avoid such conflicts while being posted as special officer to the deputy chief minister.
The matter was raked up by the BJP in Karnataka as the party described the incident as evidence of a deeper rift within the state government.
The clash between their aides has once again sparked talk of a power struggle between Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar.
Both leaders had worked together to lead the Congress to victory in the 2023 assembly elections, but rumours about tensions between them have continued ever since.

India Called Pakistan's Nuclear Bluff, Some Of Their Airbases Still In ICU: PM Modi On Op Sindoor
Last Updated: 'We showed India's tactical brilliance and targeted Pakistan's air bases and assets, some of which are still in the ICU,' said PM Modi Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, said that such was India's attack that some of Pakistan's air bases and assets are still in the ICU. 'We showed India's tactical brilliance and targeted Pakistan's air bases and assets, some of which are still in the ICU," said PM Modi. 'The cruel incident that happened in Pahalgam on April 22, the way terrorists shot innocent people after asking them about their religion, was the height of cruelty. This was a well-thought-out attempt to throw India into the fire of violence. This was a conspiracy to spread riots in India. Today I thank the countrymen that the country foiled that conspiracy with unity," said Modi. 'I had returned from Saudi and called a meeting. I ordered a strong response to terror…Army was given full freedom to act. They had to decide when, where and how they will present a challenge. I said clearly in the meeting and this was reported in the media as well," said the PM. 'Right after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Pakistan Forces had an idea that India would indeed take major action. They started making nuclear threats. On the intervening night of 6-7 May, India took action just as decided. Pakistan could not do anything. Our armed forces avenged 22nd April within 22 minutes with precision attacks." 'They had started making comments on nuclear war but India did what it had to do and Pakistan could not do it… We have fought Pakistan several times but it was the first time where India went to locations where we had never done before as Pakistan's terror infrastructure in Muridke was targeted. No one could even think this could happen but we reduced terror infrastructure to dust," he said. 'Pakistan's nuclear warnings were proved wrong by India. India proved that nuclear blackmailing will not work," said the PM. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. BJP lodges police complaint in Delhi against Mamata Banerjee over ‘fake video'
Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's allegation that the Delhi police physically tortured a toddler and his mother on July 26 during the ongoing drive against migrant workers from her state on the suspicion that they were illegal Bangladeshi immigrants triggered a row on Tuesday with the Bharatiya Janata Party lodging a police complaint against her in the national capital. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee addresses the gathering at a language movement rally, in Birbhum, on Monday. (PTI) In the complaint letter, a copy of which was seen by HT, Banerjee was charged with 'dissemination of fake and communally provocative content on social media intended to defame the Delhi Police and disturb public order.' It was filed on Tuesday afternoon at the cyber crime branch at the Delhi police headquarters by Soumendu Adhikari, the BJP Lok Sabha member from Contai and brother of the leader of the Opposition in Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari. The complaint letter said Banerjee should be booked for several offences including 'wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot' and 'cyber terrorism.' On July 27, Banerjee posted a video of a toddler and his mother on social media and alleged that Delhi police physically tortured them during the drive. 'Atrocious!! Terrible!! See how Delhi police brutally beat up a kid and his mother, members of a migrant family from Malda's Chanchal. See how even a child is not spared from the cruelty of violence in the regime of linguistic terror unleashed by BJP in the country against the Bengalis! Where are they taking our country now?' Banerjee wrote on X. She posted the video hours after the Trinamool Congress (TMC) launched its year-long 'Bhasa Andolan' (language movement) alleging that police in BJP-ruled states were specifically targeting migrant workers who speak Bengali. Banerjee referred to the video again on Monday while leading a protest in Birbhum district. The video was apparently recorded by a man who pointed at some scars in the child's left ear and forehead. 'Police tortured my wife and one-and-a-half year-old son,' the man could be heard saying in the video. The Delhi police countered the allegation on Monday, calling the charges 'fabricated' and 'politically motivated.' Addressing the media, deputy commissioner of police (East) Abhishek Dhania said: 'Upon inquiry, we identified the woman as Sanjanu Parveen. During questioning, she alleged that on the night of July 26, four men in plain clothes posing as police personnel took her and her child to a secluded spot and demanded ₹25,000, which she claimed to have paid.' The DCP said police investigation, analysis of footage from local security cameras and local intelligence revealed inconsistencies in the woman's statements. 'During sustained questioning, the woman admitted that her relative, a political worker from Malda district in West Bengal, had asked her to make the video. The video was then circulated locally in Bengal and later surfaced on social media,' Dhania said. 'This appears to be a deliberate attempt to malign the image of Delhi Police through a politically motivated narrative. The matter is still under investigation,' he added. On Tuesday, while Suvendu Adhikari addressed the media in Kolkata and showed a security camera footage recovered by the Delhi police, the chief minister stuck to her allegation while addressing an administrative meeting in Birbhum. 'Check the records. The woman was held overnight by Delhi police and threatened. She is still in their custody. We want all of them to return safely. After that it will be clear who is lying and who is telling the truth, ' she said. Bengal BJP unit president Samik Bhattacharya targeted the chief minister. 'We all know she is a creative person, a painter, a poet and a writer. It is surprising that she composed such a weak script. The lies have been exposed,' said Bhattacharya.
