Taking to X, one user wrote, '#Maargan at @PrimeVideoIN Crisp and engaging, but Sithar stories didn't gel naturally. @vijayantony's recent best after a big gap.
Another cinema enthusiast commented, 'Watched #Maargan. A request to all filmmakers, if they've been trying to get a breakthrough for the past 10 years, PLEASE UPDATE YOUR SCRIPT, if you get it. That being said, the underwater sequences and the truth behind the motive of killing in this outdated film were pretty good."

Maargan: Plot And Cast
Maargan follows the story of an archetypal resigned police officer, Dhruv (Vijay Antony). He unofficially takes up a case in Chennai that was similar to his daughter's murder. A serial killer targeted young girls, using an intravenous injection, which, when injected, burned their bodies from the inside and turned them black.
The film, directed by the award-winning editor Leo John Paul, is produced under the Vijay Antony Film Corporation banner and marks the actor's 12th cinematic venture. He also composed the film's music. Maargan also highlights Antony's collaboration with his nephew and fellow actor Ajay Dhishan, who played the antagonist opposite the former's lead role.
Besides them, the film features P. Samuthirakani as DGP Muthuvel Rajan, Seshvitha Raju as Mega/Vennila, Deepshikha as Ramya, Archana as Akhila, Mahanadi Shankar as Constable Kaali, Brigida Saga as Inspector Shruthi Selvaraj, and Vinod Sagar as ADGP Natraj Pandian. Maargan is released in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi, and according to Sacnilk, during its theatrical run, it collected Rs 14.39 crore worldwide.

What's Wrong With Secretary Kim Star Park Min-Young On Rise Of K-Dramas Globally: "When I Visit Different Countries..."

New Delhi: Park Min-young, the popular South Korean star best known for What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?, says she truly feels the global impact of K-dramas when she's recognised in unexpected corners of foreign countries. The actor said such moments, especially outside major cities, make her realise just how far-reaching and influential Korean dramas have become worldwide. "It hits me when I go visit different countries and not in the city, but when I go to the countryside, and there are people who recognise me. "When you're in the city, I think that's pretty much expected. But if there are people who know me when I am in a different country and in the countryside, that's when I can truly feel the power of Korean drama and how popular it is," Park told PTI in an exclusive interview. She is one of the most popular South Korean actors and became a household name thanks to her impressive range of roles across hit dramas. From portraying a woman disguised as a man in the gender-bending "Sungkyunkwan Scandal" and a determined journalist in "Healer", to a sharp-witted secretary in "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim?" and a devoted fangirl in "Her Private Life", Park has consistently showcased her versatility on screen. Her next project is "Confidence Queen", a crime comedy series from Prime Video in which she stars alongside actors Park Hee-soon and Joo Jong-hyuk. It will premiere on September 6. A remake of the Japanese show "The Confidence Man JP", the series features Park as Yi-rang, a smart woman who becomes the ultimate con artist. She joins forces with James (Hee-soon) and Gu-ho (Jong-hyuk) to form a trio of swindlers who take down scammers and reclaim their illicit gains. Park admitted that she didn't watch the original show, except for one episode, which was universally praised to be the "most fun one". "And while the character Dako (played by Masami Nagasawa in the original) is a very charming character indeed, it's been over 10 years since that show came out and also acting and performing styles change with time as well. "So I tried more to really do the studying myself and developed the character to bring a truly Korean style version." She may be playing a confident con artist on screen, but where does Park Min-young find her own confidence? In reality, Park said, she does not consider herself to be the "most confident person". "When I was portraying the character Yi-rang, I actually envied her and I had a lot of fun portraying her in real life. When I try to pick myself up from those moments when you don't feel that much confidence, I try to look back on my career and think about all the things that I've done during the 20 years of my career. "I would look back at it and think I was able to do this, I also achieved this, then there shouldn't be any issue why I can't do this next thing. So I try to look back on it and pick myself up," Park said.

Rajinikanth's ‘Coolie' roars ahead of release, shatters advance booking records in Kerala and overseas

Superstar Rajinikanth's upcoming film Coolie is already making waves, and it hasn't even hit theatres yet. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and backed by Sun Pictures, the action drama is seeing record-breaking advance bookings in Kerala and overseas, setting the stage for one of the biggest openings ever for a Tamil film. Slated for a grand August 14 release, Coolie will open in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, boosting its pan-India appeal. The star-studded cast, featuring Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Sathyaraj, has only added to the growing excitement. In Kerala alone, over 2 lakh tickets have already been sold in advance, raking in more than ₹ 3 crore before release. As per trade tracker Sacnilk, the demand has skyrocketed, with 50,000 tickets selling per hour during the initial booking phase. With national bookings now open, sales are expected to surge even further, possibly exceeding 1 lakh tickets per hour. Internationally, Coolie is off to a flying start. The film is projected to earn nearly ₹ 30 crore overseas on opening day alone, a staggering figure that could eventually surpass the international debut of Thalapathy Vijay's Leo, which opened at ₹ 66 crore. If the trend holds, Coolie may become the biggest global opener for a Tamil film. While Coolie looks set to dominate southern markets and global territories, it will face box office competition in the Hindi belt from War 2, which opens advance bookings on August 10. But with Rajinikanth's massive fanbase, high-octane action, and multi-star ensemble, Coolie is expected to hold its ground. As anticipation builds, all eyes are now on August 14, when Coolie storms into theatres worldwide, aiming to rewrite the rules of the box office.

They ordered to mute an abusive word in the movie. They also asked to replace 'Thiruvannamalaikku Arogara'. As per the censor certificate, the length of the movie is 169.57 minutes, which is 2 hours and 49 minutes. The makers have also added a 25-second-long animated clip celebrating 50 years of Rajinikanth.
