LONGSHOT
SHADOW DANCE (1.20 Goodwood)
He put in some smart efforts last season including when touched off in the Mallard over this trip. He can figure after a long break.
EACH-WAY THIEF
DO OR DO NOT (1.55 Goodwood)
He was beaten just a length in the July Cup at Newmarket and should enjoy this extra furlong.
SHAGRAAN (3.45 Goodwood)

'Devastated' Hollie Doyle and Alan King tributes to legendary Trueshan after fatal injury
The jockey and trainer enjoyed huge success together with the stalwart stayer who won 16 of his 35 races and earned more than £2 million in prize-money A 'devastated' Hollie Doyle paid an emotional tribute to legendary stayer Trueshan after he suffered a fatal injury during the Goodwood Cup on Tuesday. Doyle, 28, owed a huge debt to the Alan King trained star, riding him to ten of his 16 career successes, which included the 2021 edition of Goodwood's 2m Group 1 race. The pair were contesting the race for the fourth time when Trueshan suddenly broke down and was quickly pulled up on the opening day of the Glorious Goodwood meeting. It subsequently emerged he had suffered a fatal injury, news which cast a pall was cast over the racecourse when it was confirmed that Trueshan had been put down. James Given, the BHA's director of equine welfare, told ITV Racing: 'I want to express my sincere condolences to all the connections and anyone associated with the horse, no one is going to feel this more than them. He's been a stalwart, he's been a firm friend, he's been everything to them 'What has happened unfortunately is just an accident, mid-race, in a straight line going up a hill. His left-hind pastern broke and left him in a situation that wasn't recoverable from. 'Alan was able to get down there and assess him with the vet and they felt there was no option really but to put him down.' Doyle's wins on Trueshan included not only the Goodwood Cup, but two wins in the Prix du Cadran, two in the Long Distance Cup at Ascot and an extraordinary success in the Northumberland Plate in which the horse carried 10st 8lb to victory. She said: 'I'm just devastated. It couldn't be any worse. He was a special, special horse, I can't think of anything else to say. I am gutted. He's been amazing for me, a star, and those memories we have together are some of my very best." King told Mirror Racing: 'It's a hell of a shock. We have protected him all these years from fast ground for his front tendons and I was happy to run him today. "He sadly shattered a hind pastern. He just put his foot down slightly wrong and it was a freak injury - it's very rare. "We will miss him terribly. We have organised he will be cremated and come back to Barbury Castle with some of the old superstars like Katchit and Viking Flagship. "He won 16 from 35 races, over £2million in prize money and took us to some wonderful places. He's a kind horse and nice person. "The team at home will be devastated - I am sorry for everyone and the owners have been wonderful. "To say we don't care, you couldn't be further from the truth. I have had more than 100 messages and I am grateful to everybody.

Value Scope: Each way horseracing tips from Steve Jones for Wednesday at Goodwood on ITV
Day two of Glorious Goodwood is given a serious examination by our in-form expert who has four more recommendations from the TV action Make it a FORMAL (1.55) occasion for the HKJC World Pool Oak Tree Stakes. She travelled like a classy filly when beating Saqqara Sands to land a Listed race at Epsom on Oaks day. Although she has come up short in Group races, that has not been down to a lack of ability. She didn't take to York in the Criterion Stakes last month and she had looked in need of the run when making her debut for Andrew Balding in the Fred Darling at Newbury in April. The way she won her first two starts last season, when trained by Sir Michael Stoute, she looked on the way to living up to her superb pedigree. This could be the race when she picks up the thread. Have 1pt each-way at 9-1. Most bookies are paying out on four places. Consistent KAYHANA (3.45) looks overpriced in the British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Handicap. She hasn't won since her debut more than three years ago but she hasn't had too much racing since and this will be just her third start for Irish trainer Gavin Cromwell. Her first run for her new stable came when beaten a head in a Gowran Park handicap in early June and she had a poor draw when well beaten at Royal Ascot. She is unexposed over this 1m2f distance and she might well be able to get across into a prominent position from her wide stall with the absence of too many frontrunners. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. Sky Bet is offering five places. Find out more here. LEBRON POWER (4.20) didn't get the clearest of passages when fourth in the Dragon Stakes at Sandown last time. The form of that race looks strong for the Listed grade and she had earlier looked a smart prospect when making a successful debut over 6f at Windsor. The speed she showed that day suggested she was quick enough for the minimum distance and her high draw should help her get an prominent early position. Have 1pt each-way at 14-1. STANAGE (4.55) has copped the rails stall in the final race. It's advantage to be drawn low over 7f he should get the strong pace he enjoys. He hasn't had his ideal scenario too often since winning at Doncaster on the opening weekend of the turf season. More looks in his favour this time. Have 1pt each-way at 16-1. Sky Bet is going six places.

Trueshan death overshadows Scandinavia Goodwood win
A fatal injury to former winner Trueshan overshadowed the opening day of Glorious Goodwood as Scandinavia got the better of stablemate Illinois to win the Goodwood Cup. Alan King-trained Trueshan was pulled up sharply by Hollie Doyle halfway through the Group One feature race with an injury that later proved to be fatal."What happened unfortunately was just an accident, mid-race, in a straight line going up the hill," said James Given, the British Horseracing Authority (BHA) director of equine welfare. "His left hind pastern broke and left him in a situation that wasn't recoverable from."Alan [King] was able to get down there and assess him with the vet and they felt there was no option really but to put him down."The nine-year-old, who had 16 wins in 34 career races, won the Long Distance Cup at Ascot three times, the Prix du Cadran in Paris twice and the Goodwood Cup in 2021, when Doyle became the first female jockey to win the Scandinavia battled with Illinois in a thrilling finish to the two-mile race to give Irish trainer Aidan O'Brien a one-two finish. "He has improved all year," jockey Wayne Lordan told ITV after the victory."He stepped up to two miles today against the older horses. It's a tough task but I think he stepped forward quite well, and I think there is plenty of improvement to come."Today was about finding out how smart he is and he's obviously a very smart stayer. He would be an Ascot Gold Cup horse for next year."Trainer O'Brien added: "Scandinavia is a typical Justify - he just won't lie down. He puts his head down and won't be beaten."
