PM Narendra Modi praised J-K CM Omar Abdullah's visit to Gujarat's Statue of Unity, highlighting its message of unity.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday appreciated Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's visit to the State of Unity in Gujarat's Kevadia, saying that this would give an important message of unity and would inspire others also to visit the monument.
'Kashmir to Kevadia! Good to see Shri Omar Abdullah Ji enjoying his run at the Sabarmati Riverfront and visiting the Statue of Unity. His visit to SoU gives an important message of unity and will inspire our fellow Indians to travel to different parts of India," PM Modi said in a post on X.

The J-K Chief Minister is on a two-day visit to Gujarat for a tourism fair, a step to attract tourists from the state. He is expected to engage with tour operators and reconnect with the domestic travel market following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that deeply impacted tourism in Kashmir, news agency IANS reported.
ANI.
He also visited the Sardar Sarovar Dam and praised the project for bringing water to drought-affected areas. He also expressed optimism that with the suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, similar projects could be considered for Jammu and Kashmir, to address the water and power shortage.
'This dam has brought water to areas that knew nothing but drought… It has been J&K's misfortune that we could not even imagine such projects because we were not allowed to stop the water. Now that the Indus Water Treaty has been suspended, maybe there will be some such project in J&K too, so that there will be no shortage of power or water and electricity," he said as quoted by ANI.
Earlier today, the J-K Chief Minister went for a morning jog at Sabaramti Riverfront in Ahmedabad and praised the popular promenade, calling it 'one of the nicest places" he has run.
'While in #Ahmedabad for a tourism event, I took advantage of being here to get my morning run at the famed Sabarmati River Front promenade. It's one of the nicest places I've been able to run & it was a pleasure to get to share it with so many other walkers/runners. I even managed to run past the amazing Atal Foot Bridge," he said in a post on X while sharing the photographs from the riverfront.

A day earlier, he paid a courtesy visit to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel in Gandhinagar.
Speaking on his visit, Abdullah said that there are three states, including Gujarat, from where the maximum number of tourists reach Jammu and Kashmir.
'Looking at the last 30-35 years, since tourism began, three states have been the primary sources of tourists to J&K: Gujarat, Maharashtra, and West Bengal. My team and I have come here for a tourism fair, to speak on behalf of J-K, hoping to see a good number of tourists from Gujarat very soon," he said.
It is interesting to note that Abdullah is one of the major opposition leaders to visit the world's largest statue. Most of the opposition leaders have not visited the Statue of Unity since its inauguration in October 2018.
All About Statue of Unity
The Statue of Unity is a colossal monument honoring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a key figure in India's independence and its first Deputy Prime Minister.
The larger-than-life statue of Vallabhbhai Patel, around 2.5 times the height of Qutub Minar and facing the grand Sardar Sarovar Dam, was inaugurated on October 31, 2018.
The 182m statue is the world's tallest–23 metres taller than the Spring Temple Buddha in China and double the height of the Statue of Liberty in the United States.

PM Modi to inaugurate Bengaluru's Yellow Line Metro on Aug 10

BJP leader Tejasvi Surya on Sunday announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru and inaugurate the Yellow Line Metro on August 10. Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase-3, he said. In a post on 'X', Surya said, "Hon. PM Sri @narendramodi Ji's visit to Bengaluru on August 10 will be a landmark moment for Bengaluru South. He will not only inaugurate the long-awaited Yellow Line Metro operations but also lay the foundation stone for Metro Phase 3 - a project that received Cabinet approval within the first 100 days of his third term." He said the Yellow Line will cater to close to eight lakh riders and the 'infamous Silk Board jam' will be addressed greatly. Public transport is the only option to reduce traffic congestion. "Together, these projects will benefit nearly 25 lakh people in Bengaluru South," he said. The MP said by inaugurating it on August 10, the Yellow Line Metro project would meet the August 15 deadline.

Amarnath Yatra suspended amid high-level political huddles in Delhi

Amarnath Yatra 2025 was officially suspended late on Monday, with the Jammu district administration relieving all officers and officials deployed at key Facilitation Centres in the city. The move comes amid heightened political activity in New Delhi and specualtion around the possible restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. An order issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, directed immediate withdrawal of staff from the Base Camp at Yatri Niwas (Bhagwati Nagar), Ram Mandir (Purani Mandi), and Geeta Bhawan (Parade). Officers have been instructed to return to their original postings for regular duty. The suspension follows the annual yatra's high footfall this year and coincides with a surge in political meetings in the national capital. President Droupadi Murmu recently held back-to-back meetings with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, sparking speculation about a significant political development in the Union Territory. Shah has also met with senior leaders from Jammu and Kashmir, including the BJP chief of the erstwhile state. Significantly, this (August 5) is the sixth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370. In 2019, J&K was stripped of its statehood. The timing of the yatra's formal suspension has only added fuel to speculation that a major announcement on J&K's political future could be imminent.
