'If There Are Terror Attacks, We'll Respond': Jaishankar To Quad Partners On Pahalgam

The foreign ministers of the QUAD group - the US, India, Japan, and Australia - condemned the Pahalgam terror attack during Wednesday's meeting in Washington.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday attended the Quad foreign ministers' meeting in Washington, where he told his partners that India had the right to defend itself against terrorist activities and hold the perpetrators accountable.
While speaking to the media in Washington DC, Jaishankar said, 'All the Quad ministers, I think we all agreed strongly that our goal in the Quad was to strengthen strategic stability in the Indo-Pacific and in this meeting, the discussions were largely devoted to enhancing delivery on various initiatives and projects."
India launched Operation Sindoor targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. India struck several terror hideouts and eliminated more than 100 terrorists.
Jaishankar also had a 'good session" with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, where they took stock of the last six months and future steps. 'This included a discussion on trade, investment, technology, defence, security, energy, and mobility. Now, defence and energy are two subjects where, particularly with the US, which are substantive enough to warrant a separate meeting with their Secretaries," he said.

'Will Cross That Bridge When...' Jaishankar Responds to 500% US Tariff Threat Over Russia Bill

'We Decide, Not Pakistan'- Jaishankar Clarifies on India-US Ties, Rejects Trump's Ceasefire Claims External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar has strongly rejected former US President Donald Trump's repeated claims that a ceasefire between India and Pakistan after Operation Sindoor was achieved through trade diplomacy. In a sharp statement in Washington DC, Jaishankar clarified that the ceasefire was a military-to-military understanding negotiated solely by the DGMOs of India and Pakistan. 'The record is very clear,' he said, reaffirming that India's decisions are based on its own national interest, not outside mediation. Trump had earlier said trade talks helped "stop the war," but Jaishankar firmly stated that India-US ties stand on their own merit. As Operation Sindoor continues to reshape the geopolitical balance, India's stand against terrorism and its principled diplomacy remain the core of its global engagement.
