Mahmoud Nabavian, Deputy Chairman of the Majles National Security Committee: The U.S. Warned Us in Advance about Israel's Imminent Attacks, as Well as Its Own Bombing of Our Nuclear Sites; the U.S. Su
Nabavian stated that Iran had informed Qatar before attacking the Al-Udeid Base. He said the Qataris responded that they were 'in this together' with Iran and conveyed a message from the Americans suggesting that Iran strike an American airbase in another specific country, a suggestion Iran refused. Nabavian added that Iran went ahead and attacked America's most important base in Qatar and humiliated the U.S.
He remarked that the Iranians made it clear they would not agree to a ceasefire before retaliating against the U.S. After Iran's attack on Al-Udeid Base, Nabavian said U.S. Envoy Witkoff contacted the Iranians and conveyed that the U.S. and Israel wanted a ceasefire, claiming this was the 10th or 20th time they had begged for one. He concluded by saying that the Iranian people had stood up to all of NATO and won, stating: 'Victory is inscribed on the foreheads of the Iranian people, and defeat is etched upon the face of global heresy.'

' urging al-Sudani to take decisive action, or 'face serious consequences.' Iraqi oil funds must no longer use the @federalreserve and Iraqi PM @mohamedshia must take decisive action or risk severe consequence. — Joe Wilson (@RepJoeWilson) July 17, 2025 Meanwhile, A recent wave of nine drone attacks has dealt a serious blow to the Kurdistan Region's oil sector, triggering shutdowns and placing vital infrastructure under growing strain. Following UN Security Council Resolution 1483 in May 2003, Iraq's oil and gas export revenues have been deposited in a special account at the US Federal Reserve known as the Development Fund for Iraq. US distances itself from Israeli airstrikes in Syria
Shafaq News – Washington The United States did not support Israel's recent airstrikes in Syria, a State Department spokesperson said on Thursday, as Washington urged both sides to reduce tensions and pursue diplomatic channels. Tammy Bruce, speaking at a regular press briefing, confirmed that the Trump administration conveyed its opposition to the Israeli strikes, which came amid growing regional instability. On Wednesday, Israeli warplanes targeted sites in Damascus and positions held by Syrian government forces in the south. Israeli officials claimed the operations aimed to push Syrian troops away from Druze areas near the Israeli border — referring to a small but politically significant minority with populations in Israel, Lebanon, and Syria. 'The United States is engaging diplomatically with Israel and Syria at the highest levels, both to address the present crisis and reach a lasting agreement between the two sovereign states,' Bruce stated. 'We are calling on the Syrian government to lead the path forward,' she added. The remarks come as diplomatic efforts intensify following the Israeli strikes, which have drawn condemnation from regional and international actors. Earlier, a senior US official told Axios that the Trump administration had privately urged Israel to halt its military operations against Syrian government targets and instead open direct communication channels with Damascus.

Arab countries back Syria, demand UN act on Israeli occupation
Shafaq News – Baghdad On Thursday, Iraq and nine other Arab countries affirmed support for Syria's sovereignty and stability, urging the UN Security Council to uphold its responsibilities by ensuring Israel's full withdrawal from the occupied Syrian territories. According to a joint statement published by the UAE Foreign Ministry, foreign ministers from Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Bahrain, Turkiye, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, and Egypt held intensive discussions over the past two days on the evolving situation in Syria. Welcoming the recent agreement to resolve the crisis in Suwayda Province, the Arab FMs called for its full implementation and stressed the importance of protecting civilians, preserving national unity, and upholding the rule of law. The statement also hailed Syrian Transitional President Ahmad Al-Sharaa's commitment to holding accountable those responsible for violations against civilians in Suwayda.
