More 48-hour water shutdowns planned for Polokwane
LNW said the shutdowns, which will affect key pumping stations, are necessary to bring new and improved pump stations into operation.
This, they said, is aimed at enhancing the reliability, efficiency and overall performance of their water supply systems in the long term.
The upcoming planned shutdowns follow the recent 48-hour shutdown of the Olifantspoort Scheme in July, which impacted water supply across Polokwane, Seshego and other areas.
The shutdowns are scheduled as follows:
July 23-24: Olifantspoort Scheme – Pump Station 2 and Pump Station 3 (48 hours).
August 6-7: Ebenezer Scheme – High Lift Pump Station (48 hours).
August 20-21: Olifantspoort Scheme – Pump Station 1 and Pump Station 2 (48 hours).
Shorter shutdowns (less than 48 hours) are anticipated in August and September and will be announced in due course.
Meanwhile, the Polokwane Municipality warns that areas supplied by the affected schemes may experience low water pressure or a temporary supply interruption during the shutdowns.
'Residents are kindly urged to use water sparingly and to store sufficient water in advance for essential use,' said Thipa Selala (Polokwane Municipality spokesperson).

Ravens and Commanders cancel next week's joint practice
The Washington Commanders were scheduled to hold a joint practice with the Baltimore Ravens next week ahead of their final preseason game. That joint practice has been canceled due to a scheduling conflict. The Ravens released the following statement. The Commanders play their second preseason game (Cincinnati Bengals) on Monday night, August 18. The Ravens are in Dallas on Saturday for their second preseason game against the Cowboys. Sullivan was admittedly "super nervous" that someone else would fly over the field and spoil the surprise by posting a photo of it on social media, but luckily no one did. With the engagement ring in his pocket, Sullivan convinced Liggett to fly over the cornfield with him by pretending to have an interest in flying. Initially, Liggett missed the message — but after a second pass, she said saw the secret proposal and happily accepted. "I was just like so amazed that somebody put that much effort in planning into a proposal like that," Liggett told the local news outlet. "I expected he would do something quite elaborate and intentional, but nothing to that extreme by any means."
