During the briefing, it was revealed that Moses Mabhida's capacity for the Nedbank Cup final will be 49,000. However, after hospitality and complimentary tickets were given out to the clubs and other stakeholders, 41,000 were available for general sale to the public.
Stadium Management SA's Grobbelaar said Shoprite and Checkers retail outlets sold 4,956 tickets, Open Tickets sold 2,435, while 44,121 tickets were sold by Computicket, bringing the number of tickets sold to 51,512.
As a result of tickets being oversold, all platforms ceased sales, and according to Grobbelaar, they then had to issue refunds.
'10,510 tickets were paid for, but were over capacity, and those people had to be refunded.' He went on to add: 'There were no tickets issued than the capacity allows for.'
PSL acting CEO Mato Madlala said they were immediately aware when the Open Tickets platform crashed, and immediately started looking for solutions.
'We then spoke to Computicket, and asked them to use their server so that people can purchase tickets,' said Madlala. However, due to Computicket and Open Tickets not communicating, they could not update the number of tickets sold, which led to more tickets than seats available being sold.
Madlala concluded by saying she was happy that the ticketing issues had since been brought under control.

'Especially considering how congested the schedule is, and obviously we have CAF responsibilities also, so for us it's important to build on this past weekend, because in the past we have failed to do that. 'And we would find ourselves playing catch-up at the end and starting to do calculations, and that comes from not picking up points early in the season. 'It's important for us this season to make it a priority to make sure that every game that is at stake, we come with maximum points.' One of Amakhosi's biggest obstacles in recent seasons has been their inability to consistently shut out opponents. This time, with Petersen earning a starting spot in goals early in the campaign after the club struggled to secure their preferred first-choice keeper, they have managed two clean sheets alongside their two victories. The Chiefs shot-stopper added that continued defensive improvement will be crucial to their ambitions. 'It is always said that defence can win you championships," Petersen continued. 'From the start of pre-season you can see how we are defending — not only our defenders but as a team. There is more urgency when we don't have the ball, there is more work done without the ball, and it's important for us. 'We want the ball all the time, but what do we do when we lose the ball? 'That has been something we have been working hard on. In terms of not conceding goals, the synergy and understanding has become much better amongst players. Sekhukhune United will face Stellenbosch in the MTN8 semi-final at Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday (6pm kick-off). A win and a clean sheet in that match would boost Sekhukhune's chances heading into the second leg at their home ground, the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, in a week's time. Tinkler is an ambitious coach who wants to deliver Babina Noko's first silverware this season, having previously brought maiden success to former clubs Cape Town City and SuperSport United. However, to achieve that, he will need his talisman, Makgalwa to deliver. I think he has one assist — from a corner — and hasn't created an opportunity for himself or others. 'There are always those rumours, especially after he was nominated for the Footballer of the Season award and having racked up the most assists. 'A lot of that comes from either the media or the agent. But we've made Keletso aware we'll never stand in his way of getting a better contract elsewhere. 'But there has to be an offer, and there hasn't been one. It's all talk. What he must be aware of is that he's a professional and has a contract with Sekhukhune United. 'So he needs to duplicate what he did last season so that clubs interested in him aren't just hearing hearsay from his agent or the press.' Makgalwa is only one piece in Sekhukhune's puzzle, as many pundits believe the club has assembled a squad capable of challenging for honours this campaign. Tinkler admitted that they have a strong squad at their disposal, but their main challenge has been a congested fixture schedule. 'The hard part is what we currently find ourselves in — it's a pity that everything has to be congested and squeezed into one month,' Tinkler said. 'You have to compete in the league while playing in a massive competition such as the MTN8. The recovery process is not great. 'I could see that our performance against TS Galaxy was not great because everything is squeezed, and you end up playing about eight games in one month.'
