During the briefing, it was revealed that Moses Mabhida's capacity for the Nedbank Cup final will be 49,000. However, after hospitality and complimentary tickets were given out to the clubs and other stakeholders, 41,000 were available for general sale to the public.
Stadium Management SA's Grobbelaar said Shoprite and Checkers retail outlets sold 4,956 tickets, Open Tickets sold 2,435, while 44,121 tickets were sold by Computicket, bringing the number of tickets sold to 51,512.
As a result of tickets being oversold, all platforms ceased sales, and according to Grobbelaar, they then had to issue refunds.
'10,510 tickets were paid for, but were over capacity, and those people had to be refunded.' He went on to add: 'There were no tickets issued than the capacity allows for.'
PSL acting CEO Mato Madlala said they were immediately aware when the Open Tickets platform crashed, and immediately started looking for solutions.
'We then spoke to Computicket, and asked them to use their server so that people can purchase tickets,' said Madlala. However, due to Computicket and Open Tickets not communicating, they could not update the number of tickets sold, which led to more tickets than seats available being sold.
Madlala concluded by saying she was happy that the ticketing issues had since been brought under control.

Kaizer Chiefs' Brandon Petersen emphasises the importance of learning from past mistakes
Brandon Petersen says Kaizer Chiefs have learnt from their previous shortfalls. Image: Backpagepix Fine margins can shape an entire season, and few teams know this better than Kaizer Chiefs after navigating a challenging couple of campaigns. This season has begun on a positive note, with two wins from their opening two fixtures. The side still appears to be a work in progress, but they have shown not only marked improvement, but also a renewed hunger to get as close as possible to some of their previous best standards. Achieving that will require sustained effort. While the season will be a marathon, winning the smaller 'sprints' along the way is just as important — and so far, so good. Adding to their domestic responsibilities, Amakhosi will return to continental competition this season. Their Nedbank Cup triumph last term secured a place in the CAF Confederation Cup. The last time the Glamour Boys competed on the African stage, they reached the 2021 CAF Champions League final, losing 3-0 to Al Ahly. With their confident start this season, maintaining momentum will be essential as fixtures begin to pile up. Video Player is loading. Advertisement Next Stay Close ✕ Goalkeeper Brandon Petersen believes it will be important to learn from past mistakes. 'It's very important to collect points at the start of the season," Petersen said. 'Especially considering how congested the schedule is, and obviously we have CAF responsibilities also, so for us it's important to build on this past weekend, because in the past we have failed to do that. 'And we would find ourselves playing catch-up at the end and starting to do calculations, and that comes from not picking up points early in the season. 'It's important for us this season to make it a priority to make sure that every game that is at stake, we come with maximum points.' One of Amakhosi's biggest obstacles in recent seasons has been their inability to consistently shut out opponents. This time, with Petersen earning a starting spot in goals early in the campaign after the club struggled to secure their preferred first-choice keeper, they have managed two clean sheets alongside their two victories. The Chiefs shot-stopper added that continued defensive improvement will be crucial to their ambitions. 'It is always said that defence can win you championships," Petersen continued. 'From the start of pre-season you can see how we are defending — not only our defenders but as a team. There is more urgency when we don't have the ball, there is more work done without the ball, and it's important for us. 'We want the ball all the time, but what do we do when we lose the ball? 'That has been something we have been working hard on. In terms of not conceding goals, the synergy and understanding has become much better amongst players. We want clean sheets as goalkeepers and defenders this season, but most importantly for us are the three points.'

Sekhukhune United coach Eric Tinkler urges talisman Keletso Makgalwa to recover form ahead of MTN8 semi-Final first leg against Stellenbosch
Keletso Makgalwa has yet to hit the high notes for Sekhukhune United ast they face Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 semi-finals. | BackpagePix Image: BackpagePix Eric Tinkler has advised his talisman, Keletso Makgalwa, to return to his best with every passing game if he is to attract lucrative moves locally or abroad. Sekhukhune United will face Stellenbosch in the MTN8 semi-final at Danie Craven Stadium on Saturday (6pm kick-off). A win and a clean sheet in that match would boost Sekhukhune's chances heading into the second leg at their home ground, the New Peter Mokaba Stadium, in a week's time. Tinkler is an ambitious coach who wants to deliver Babina Noko's first silverware this season, having previously brought maiden success to former clubs Cape Town City and SuperSport United. However, to achieve that, he will need his talisman, Makgalwa to deliver. Makgalwa had an outstanding campaign with Sekhukhune last season, scoring six goals and registering 11 assists in 32 matches across all competitions. The 28-year-old's exploits didn't go unnoticed, as he was nominated for the coveted Footballer of the Season and Players' Player of the Season awards. However, despite starting in all three of Sekhukhune's wins since the start of the season, Tinkler feels that his talisman hasn't been at his best. Given the rumours linking him with other clubs, Tinkler suspects that might have distracted him. Hence, he's offered some solid advice for securing a move. 🚨 NEXT MATCH 🚨 Off to the Western Cape ✈️✈️! 🆚 STELLENBOSCH FC 🏆 MTN8 SEMI-FINALS 🏟️ Danie Craven Stadium 📅 Sat, 16 Aug | 18:00 📺 SABC1 & SuperSport (202) 🎟️ Tickets: R100 at Openticketshttps:// Bold hearts. Next Stay Close ✕ 'I think I have heard that conversation,' Tinkler explained. 'I disagree — I don't think Keletso has done well in the games he's played. I think he has one assist — from a corner — and hasn't created an opportunity for himself or others. 'There are always those rumours, especially after he was nominated for the Footballer of the Season award and having racked up the most assists. 'A lot of that comes from either the media or the agent. But we've made Keletso aware we'll never stand in his way of getting a better contract elsewhere. 'But there has to be an offer, and there hasn't been one. It's all talk. What he must be aware of is that he's a professional and has a contract with Sekhukhune United. 'So he needs to duplicate what he did last season so that clubs interested in him aren't just hearing hearsay from his agent or the press.' Makgalwa is only one piece in Sekhukhune's puzzle, as many pundits believe the club has assembled a squad capable of challenging for honours this campaign. Tinkler admitted that they have a strong squad at their disposal, but their main challenge has been a congested fixture schedule. 'The hard part is what we currently find ourselves in — it's a pity that everything has to be congested and squeezed into one month,' Tinkler said. 'You have to compete in the league while playing in a massive competition such as the MTN8. The recovery process is not great. 'I could see that our performance against TS Galaxy was not great because everything is squeezed, and you end up playing about eight games in one month.' 'Obsessed' Benjamin Sesko will star for Manchester United, says Ruben Amorim

Next Stay Close ✕ "He can play different types of football," Amorim told reporters on Friday. "He is going to learn but he has a great potential and I can see Ben being a striker for Manchester United for a lot of years. "That's why we paid so much money to have a striker that will have his history in our club." Asked if Sesko could start against Arsenal, the United boss said: "We didn't have a lot of time but he's ready. "Physically, he's ready. That is a big component in our league. Then, he's really smart. Every detail that he asks, he's a guy that is always thinking. "He spends all afternoon here working on his fitness, so he's ready to play. We will see if he's going to start." Sesko scored 21 goals for German side Leipzig last term and has made a good first impression on Amorim at United's new-look Carrington training complex. "He's one guy who stays here, has lunch, and goes to the medical department, does the stretching," he said. "He is always thinking about football. He's really obsessed about that and that is a good thing because you don't have to think about that aspect with that young guy. "I don't need to tell Ben, 'Ben, this is Manchester United, a lot of pressure, you have to perform, you need to be ready for the physicality, we need to be ready, every game is like do or die'. Sesko's arrival in Manchester has raised fresh questions over the future of United striker Rasmus Hojlund. The 22-year-old Denmark international has been strongly linked with an exit, just two years on from joining from Atalanta. Hojlund said on United's pre-season tour that he wants to stay at United, but reports of a potential move to AC Milan persist. "He is one more option," Amorim said. "We will see. We are focused on this game and Rasmus is still our player." AFP Get your news on the go, click here to join the IOL News WhatsApp channel.
