Racist teen terrorised neighbours in 11-month crime spree
The teen pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to a string of charges including behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and possession of a knife in a public place.

The court heard that on bonfire night in 2023, the boy confronted neighbour Timothy McArdle outside his home while his young daughter was nearby.
McArdle asked the teen if he was speaking to him and he replied: "Aye you f***ing dafty, do you want a bit of this?"
The boy then removed a machete from a sheath and motioned the blade towards McArdle.
When told that his daughter was with him, the teen replied: "I don't give a f***."
McArdle left the scene and the boy shouted: "Come out, I'm going to do you, you f***ing bam."
The police were contacted and the teenager was traced to his home and arrested.
The court also heard of a later incident in which the boy was seen with a machete smashing the car windows of another neighbour.
He was heard to shout: "Get your boy out, you are a grass, your mum is a cow, you will be getting ran out of here."
A 16 and a 17 year old reported that the teenager followed them then shouted and swore in another incident.
He said: "I'm going to slash your f***ing face in."
The boy then brandished a six-inch knife which caused the pair to run off for safety.

The teen later told another man to "go back to your own country" and branded his victim a "black b******."
He was also spotted with a knife that evening which he used to stab the tyres on a bike.
The court was told of another incident in which he was seen brandishing a knife at a bus stop in the city's Battlefield.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Joan Kerr who continued the boy's remand at a children's unit meantime.

Body of man recovered from water in Perth after major search

Man in court on murder bid charge after Edinburgh gun incident

Glasgow university building taped off due to 'incident'
In an internal email, students were told that the closure was due to 'an incident yesterday regarding a window at the front of the Govan Mbeki Building'. A member of security staff told our reporter that a 'fault' with one of the building's windows meant the entrance would be closed 'for the foreseeable'. Caution tape covered much of the building's front facade. The email reads: 'The main and rear entrances to the Govan Mbeki Building have been closed as a precautionary measure. 'The accessible entrance from the George Moore Building is by the lift lobby linking to the Deeprose Lecture Theatre.' Students were also told not to open any windows inside the building. A sign posted to the front door of the building read: 'Due to essential maintenance, this entrance is closed.' Mandela had suggested the building be renamed after his comrade upon receiving an honorary degree from the university in June 1996 at Buckingham Palace. The building was officially opened by Mbeki's son, President Thabo Mbeki, at a special ceremony in June 2001. A Glasgow Caledonian University spokesperson said: 'On Wednesday afternoon our staff identified an issue with a single window in our Govan Mbeki Building which had become separated from its frame. The window was reinstated and secured shortly thereafter. "As a precaution a full assessment is now being undertaken of all similar windows. Two entrances to the building have been temporarily closed and a range of actions are being undertaken to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all the students and staff who use the building. "We will of course be providing further updates to our staff and students in due course.'
