Michael Jordan Watches A Street Performer In Portugal But Refuses To Take A Picture Because Of The Adidas Shirt

Michael Jordan Watches A Street Performer In Portugal But Refuses To Take A Picture Because Of The Adidas Shirt originally appeared on Fadeaway World. Michael Jordan is a global icon, a six-time NBA champion, and the face of one of the most successful sports branding empires in history. But in Portugal this week, His Airness once again reminded the world just how seriously he takes that legacy not just on the court, but off it, down to the logos in his presence. While vacationing in Portugal with his wife, Yvette Prieto, Jordan was seen enjoying a street performance by local musician Lucas Pina. The moment, captured on video and posted to social media, shows Jordan vibing to Pina's soulful guitar and vocals while dining outdoors in Lisbon. MJ appeared relaxed, cigar in hand, smiling, nodding, and fully immersed in the music. For Pina, it was the performance of a lifetime: serenading the greatest basketball player ever. And then came the twist. A fan cheekily commented under the video: 'You're wearing Adidas, Jordan wouldn't f**k with you.' To everyone's surprise, Pina replied, 'Yes, that's why he couldn't take a picture with me that day.' While brief, that one-liner sparked a storm of online commentary. Was he joking, or did Michael Jordan really snub a photo-op because of a rival brand? Given Jordan's brand loyalty history, it wouldn't be shocking. As the cornerstone of Nike's $6 billion Jordan Brand, Michael has spent decades curating his image. Being photographed next to a street artist in Adidas, no matter how talented, could dilute that image or, worse, invite speculation about his own allegiance. In the world of branding and optics, even innocent photos can snowball into misinterpretations. And Jordan, a master of legacy control, has always been cautious about association. This incident in Portugal isn't an isolated moment. Jordan is known for being meticulous about how and where he is photographed, especially when it involves rival apparel. He's even gone so far as to cover other brands' logos with tape during public appearances. It's not personal, it's professional. And it's deeply tied to a billion-dollar empire. What makes the Adidas irony richer is that Jordan didn't even want to sign with Nike initially. He even begged Adidas to match Nike's offer in 1984, which they declined. The rest, of course, is sneaker history. Europe, meanwhile, continues to be a favorite destination for MJ. He's spent summers across the continent, dancing in Capri with his wife Yvette, partying in Milan, and even being spotted dining with Magic Johnson during one of his luxury getaways. Jordan has a deep affection for Italy in particular. In a now-viral story from 2022, a Milan cigar shop manager described being stunned when the basketball legend casually strolled in and asked for recommendations. Jordan was in town looking for the finest cigars to enjoy during his stay, adding another iconic stop to his long list of European adventures. He was also seen on a boat ride in Lake Como with George Clooney that same summer and cruised along the Croatian coast in 2021 aboard a $1.2 million-per-week yacht. But His Airness isn't staying retired from the game entirely. For the upcoming 2025–26 NBA season, Jordan is set to return in an official capacity as the league's special contributor. The role, created as part of the NBA's new media expansion, will see MJ help promote the global growth of basketball and connect newer generations to the game's history. Sources say he'll feature in broadcast specials, international tours, and legacy campaigns that highlight today's stars, players like LeBron James and Stephen Curry, whom Jordan himself believes deserve more respect from older fans. While he may not be donning a jersey again, MJ's return signifies a powerful union between past greatness and the league's future. Still, the moment with Lucas Pina wasn't entirely lost. Jordan may not have posed for a photo, but he did what mattered more in the moment: he listened, appreciated, and vibed to an artist pouring his heart out through music. And that, in itself, is its own kind of endorsement, just not one with three stripes in the story was originally reported by Fadeaway World on Jun 5, 2025, where it first appeared.

Katie Holmes Finds the Perfect Summer Ballet Flat

Is there a more quintessential summer-in-the-city shoe than a classic ballet flat? There's a reason it's so popular: Low-key, lightweight, and comfortable, the footwear can be paired with virtually any kind of summery outfit—it's the hero shoe of the season. That being said, it's hardly an innovative style: It has long been a more stealthy wardrobe staple, a piece that blends into a look than stands out. But as stars like Katie Holmes and Anya Taylor-Joy have recently proven, you can find new updated versions of it that feel fresh and modern. The key to a refreshed ballet flat lies in the silhouette. Just earlier today in New York, Holmes stepped out in one of her perfectly casual-cool outfits (including a denim button-up), and it was complete with a pair of elasticized leather ballet flats. Featuring a more scrunchy shape compared to your typical ballet flat, it read just a little more cool and edgy. Taylor-Joy recently wore the exact same construction while out in Los Angeles last month, pairing hers with a big faux-fur coat.

Jalen Williams' adidas Harden Vol. 9 PE To Release Amidst NBA Finals

adidas Harden Vol. 9 | Jalen Williams PE adidas PR As the Oklahoma City Thunder attempt to win a championship, rising star Jalen Williams will play a key role. The 24-year-old is Oklahoma City's second scoring option alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and has already earned All-NBA status in just his third NBA season. But Williams' success goes beyond his play on the court. A fashion icon off the court and an adidas athlete, he has been wearing his own Harden Vol. 9 PE since February. The shoe itself features Williams' signature logo on the heel and his jersey number on the tongue. A vibrant colorway inspired by the 90's TV show Pinky and the Brain — Williams' favorite childhood cartoon — it's been a shoe that hasn't been available to the public, until now. adidas Harden Vol. 9 | Jalen Williams PE adidas PR The adidas Harden Vol. 9 'JDUB' is officially releasing on Friday, June 6 for $160, exclusively on adidas' website, select adidas stores, and select retailers. This release will come right after Game 1 of the NBA Finals. Williams first debuted his unique shoe on-court while playing against his brother, Utah Jazz rookie Cody Williams, as both wore a pair while going head-to-head. It was a special moment that was encapsulated by the brothers matching up for the very first time. From there, other players including OKC teammate Lu Dort and even James Harden himself have worn Williams' PE in recent months, which speaks to how significant this milestone is. Williams has been a featured adidas athlete since being drafted into the league. From day one, he's been put in a position to build his personal brand and status which has led to this moment. 'Charisma, personality, fashion sense — that alone drew us to him. But then his measurements were insane,' Cam Mason, Director of Sports Marketing for adidas Basketball recalled when thinking back to initially signing Williams. 'His charisma gives him the confidence, so that's why he's in a place he's at. He has so much influence and so much persona. He can connect with anybody.' Building his brand has been carefully mapped out since Williams joined adidas. There's no skipping steps when it comes to ascending alongside a shoe brand, but the Thunder star has able to do great things off the court. 'It's like, how do you continue to build your brand? First step is getting you into campaigns. We got him in a lot of lifestyle campaigns,' Mason said of Williams' journey. 'What's next? Let's get you a PE. What are you into? What's your persona?' adidas Harden Vol. 9 | Jalen Williams PE adidas PR While this PE isn't a signature shoe, it is a signal of just how quickly Williams is rising among the NBA ranks. Having a PE for any shoe is a significant accomplishment as he works his way toward a potential signature shoe with adidas in the future. Only the best players in the world earn that honor, but with the trajectory the Thunder swingman is on, it's not out of the question. He earned his first NBA All-Star nod and was also on an All-NBA and All-Defensive Team for his accomplishments in the 2024-25 campaign. Furthermore, his status off the court when it comes to fashion and pop culture only enhances his case for being next in line for a signature sneaker in the future.
