UAE announces Eid Al Fitr public holiday for private sector

The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) has announced the dates for the Eid Al Fitr holiday for 2025.
Applying to all private sector employees, the paid public holiday for Eid Al Fitr 2025 will be from Sunday 30 March to Tuesday 1 April. That means it will be a four-day weekend for those typically off Saturday and Sunday.
However, it could still be a five-day weekend. In a post on X, MOHRE added that if Ramadan is 30 days, Wednesday April 2 will also be a public holiday. But we'll need to wait until the sighting of the moon on Saturday March 29 for confirmation. If the crescent moon is sighted, Eid will begin on Sunday. If it isn't, Ramadan will continue on Sunday, with Monday March 31 then marking the first day of Eid.
We announce that from Sunday 30 March to Tuesday 1 April, will be a paid holiday for all private sector employees across the country on the occasion of Eid Al Fitr.
If the month of Ramadan concludes in the 30th day, the holiday will be extended to Wednesday, 2 April 2025.

The public and private sector holidays were unified several years ago, meaning that public sector employees in the UAE will also get a four-day weekend, but may also get five days off, depending on whether the moon is sighted.

Dubai: 10,000 children get Eidiya from authority in 'cherished tradition'
In a heartwarming gesture, authorities in Dubai have distributed Eidiya (Eid gift money) to 10,000 children, an authority said on Thursday, June 5. The children were from families benefitting from Community Development Authority services, the statement said. Hessa bint Essa Buhumaid, Director General of CDA, said: "The Eidiya is not just financial support; it's a heartfelt message meant to bring joy to children during these blessed days and to make them feel valued and cared for." "Giving Eidiya is a cherished tradition in our culture, and the happiness it brings to children is truly priceless,' she added. This was organised under the 'Eidiya' initiative, and in collaboration with the Endowments and Minors' Trust Foundation (AWQAF Dubai). The initiative also aligns with the goals of the 'Year of Community'. Earlier, Dubai Police in an effort to make Eid special for female inmates distributed clothing and organised special programmes as part of their ongoing humanitarian and social efforts.
