Former US President Barack Obama made a surprise appearance on the podcast IMO with Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson, where he joined Michelle Obama and her brother Craig Robinson for a heartfelt and often humorous conversation.
The episode, which aired last week, saw the couple directly address the swirling rumors about their marriage and reaffirm their bond in front of millions of listeners and viewers.
The conversation comes after months of speculation about the Obamas' relationship, fueled by several public events where Michelle was notably absent, notably Donald Trump's presidential inauguration in January and former President Jimmy Carter's funeral.
Social media chatter and tabloid headlines amplified the gossip, prompting Michelle and Barack to break their silence.

'There hasn't been one moment in our marriage where I've thought about quitting on my man,' Michelle said, addressing the rumors head-on.
Barack chimed in with a playful tone: 'She took me back! It was touch and go for a while.'
Michelle's brother Craig, who co-hosts the
IMO
podcast, joked during the episode: 'It's so nice to have you both in the same room together.'
Michelle responded with a knowing laugh: 'I know because when we aren't, folks think we're divorced.' She continued, reflecting on their journey together: 'There hasn't been one moment in our marriage where I've thought about quitting on my man. And we've had some really hard times and we've had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures and I have become a better person because of the man I'm married to.'

Michelle also addressed the assumptions people made about her decision to skip Trump's inauguration.
On a separate episode of IMO aired earlier this year, she clarified: 'My decision to skip the inauguration, what people don't realize — or my decision to make choices at the beginning of this year that suited me were met with such ridicule and criticism,' she said.
'People couldn't believe that I was saying no for any other reason that they had to assume that my marriage was falling apart.'
A fun couple's challenge
If there were still any lingering doubts about their relationship, a now-viral video posted on IMO's official social media accounts put them to rest.
In the video, the Obamas take part in a couple's challenge, answering 'who is more likely to…' questions while standing next to each other.
To the question 'Who apologizes first after a fight?' both pointed to Barack. When asked 'Who's the funny one?' they both pointed to Michelle.
Barack picked up several playful titles during the challenge, including 'most romantic,' 'most patient,' 'grumpiest in the morning,' and 'biggest baby when sick.'
They both agreed Michelle takes longer to get ready, is more stubborn, and needs more attention. They didn't always see eye-to-eye, however, especially on who's the better cook, who said 'I love you' first, who's the bigger social butterfly, and who's the messier one.

Lok Sabha passes Merchant Shipping Bill to comply with global maritime accords, develop Indian shipping

The Lok Sabha passed the Merchant Shipping Bill on Wednesday, paving the way for compliance with India's obligations under maritime treaties and international instruments and ensure the development of the shipping industry. The bill was passed after a brief discussion as opposition parties continued with protests seeking a discussion on poll roll revision in Bihar. As soon as the bill was passed, the house proceedings were adjourned for the day. The Merchant Shipping Bill, 2024, introduced in the Lok Sabha in December 2024, proposes to replace the Merchant Shipping Act of 1958, which presently governs merchant shipping in India and implements certain International Maritime Organization (IMO) conventions. However, the act became outdated because it does not provide for critical obligations under international conventions that India has adopted. The bill empowers the central government to take charge of and detain vessels within India or its coastal waters if they are not legally entitled to fly the flag of a state or have lost this right. The legislation expands the definition of vessels to include mobile offshore drilling units, submersibles and non-displacement craft. It introduces provisions for temporary registration of vessels destined for recycling – aimed at promoting shipbreaking activities at hubs like Alang. The bill represents a decisive step towards positioning India as a global leader in maritime trade and governance, the ministry of ports, shipping and waterways said in a statement. It is a progressive, advanced and modern legislation, up to date with international maritime conventions and includes incorporations from global best practices of leading maritime nations. With 325 clauses under 16 parts, the bill seeks to ensure comprehensive adoption of India's obligations under other major international conventions, reduce the compliance burden for all stakeholders and increase tonnage under the Indian flag. It intends to prevent marine pollution and protect India's coastline and related interests, provide for maritime liabilities and compensation and promote accountability and transparency in investigation and enforcement procedures, minister for ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananada Sonowal said while introducing the bill in the lower house. '...these reforms in the statutory framework will enable expeditious removal of wrecks and effective salvage operations as and when required. The new framework will also protect the marine environment by ensuring that response to any marine incident is always focused on safety and marine environmental concerns,' Sonowal said in parliament.

Amid quashed divorce rumours, Michelle Obama's birthday wish for husband Barack Obama is 'everything'!

The week commenced yesterday with former President of the United States and near-unanimous crowd favourite, Barack Obama, turning 64. While wishes and tributes indeed did pour in from the world over, the one that inadvertently meant the most, was from his wife of 32 years and former United States first lady, Michelle Obama. Michelle Obama's birthday wish for Barack Obama is 'everything'!(Photos: Instagram) Taking to her Instagram handle and posting a loved-up photo with the birthday boy, Michelle's caption read, "Happy birthday to my love, my best friend, my everything! @BarackObama, even after all these years, you're still the coolest guy I know. 💕". Barack's response too came in promptly, carrying the same warm tone: "Love you, Miche! And thanks everybody for all the birthday wishes.", read his reaction. It's worth noting that this comes in following weeks worth of the rumours of a divorce reportedly being on the cards, a rumour that was effectively shut down by the power couple in their own capacities. During an April appearance on Sophia Bush's podcast Work in Progress, she shared, "That's the thing that we, as women, I think we struggle with disappointing people, you know? So much so that this year people were — they couldn't even fathom that I was making a choice for myself, that they had to assume that my husband and I are it doesn't fit into the sort of stereotype of what people think we should do, then it gets labeled as something negative and horrible". Know that this explanation came after Michelle was spotted attending several events on a trot, solo. The couple revisited the rumours with a good laugh on the IMO podcast, hosted by her brother, where in Michelle expressed, "There hasn't been one moment in our marriage where I thought about quittin' my man. And we've had some really hard times. We have had a lot of fun times, a lot of adventures, and I have become a better person because of the man I'm married to". Michelle and Barack will be coming up on 33 years of marriage this October.
