Grieving parents of Bailey Chadwick make heartbreaking appeal for driver to go to cops after son killed in ‘hit & run'

THE family of Bailey Chadwick, who was killed in a suspected hit-and-run, have made a heartbreaking appeal to the driver to hand themself in. The 19-year-old was walking home in Pateley Bridge, North Yorkshire, when he was fatally injured on the B6265 in the early hours of Sunday. 8 8 Bailey had earlier been working at the Royal Oak pub before spending time with friends. He had been due to go travelling to Thailand this week and the police officer in charge of the investigation said the teenager had "a lifetime of adventures ahead of him". The young lad's parents have since made a desperate appeal to the driver to come forward and turn themself in as it's the "least they can do". Speaking close to the scene of the collision, Dayle Knights, Bailey's mum, said through tears "no words can express how absolutely devastated we are." "Bailey was just a normal, happy, outgoing 19-year-old, who had his whole life ahead of him," she added. The teenager 's heartbroken stepdad, Daniel Horler, made an emotional plea to the driver to "do the right thing" and speak to the police. He said: "He should be living his best life seeing a new country, exploring new people, but instead he was left alone to die. "Bailey was torn away from us at such a young age. The fact that someone knows he was driving that night is heartbreaking for all of us. "Please, if it's you, do the right thing and speak to the police. "Please, if you have any information which will help trace the person responsible, please help. Shocking moment gang of robbers crash stolen Jaguar into cop car in horror head-on smash "If you've any empathy within you whatsoever, it's the least you could do." North Yorkshire Police are currently working to establish the vehicle involved and who was driving. Detective Inspector Jill Cowling, of North Yorkshire Police, said the driver may not be aware there was a collision but urged anyone with information to come forward. She said: "Now is the time to come forward. "The grief endured by Bailey's family is further compounded by the fact that the driver has not yet come forward. "I am now appealing directly to the driver of the vehicle to do the right thing for Bailey and his family and contact us immediately. "Bailey had everything to look forward to in his life. "He was a well-loved, popular young man with a lifetime of adventures ahead of him. "Now this is all gone." She added: "My thoughts at this time are with Bailey's family and friends as they face the overwhelming grief caused by the loss of their beloved Bailey. 8 8 8 "Over the coming days and weeks, we will continue to ensure that they are supported by our specialist family liaison officers. "I am also aware of how much this terrible incident has understandably shocked residents in the close local communities around Pateley Bridge and the surrounding villages at this distressing time - the many messages of love and kind words about Bailey are hugely appreciated and welcomed by his family." The Royal Oak pub where Bailey worked also paid tribute to the most "loveable" and "caring" lad. In a post online staff said: "The most loveable, caring, trustworthy, happy, smiley, beautiful young man we have ever had the honour of working with. A true gentlemen and friend." Flowers and tributes have been left close to where he was struck, including a Sheffield Wednesday flag and scarf - the football team he followed. One card said: "Light up the sky, you gorgeous, gorgeous boy. Love you always." Another said: "A lovely funny lad. So sad." The detective said detailed investigations are under way, including using CCTV footage, and there are a number of lines of inquiry. She said: "As the driver, this is your opportunity to come to us before we come to you. "If you know who was driving the vehicle which fatally injured Bailey, then please do the right thing and contact us now. "I am extremely grateful to everyone who has already come forward with information. "I urge anyone who can help with the investigation into this tragic incident to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101. You can also contact CrimeStoppers anonymously." 8 8

Cosby Show star Malcolm-Jamal Warner was swimming with eight-year-old daughter when he drowned

Cosby Show star Malcolm-Jamal Warner was swimming with his eight-year-old daughter when he drowned in Costa Rica. Warner, who as a teenager played Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, died at 54 in an accidental drowning, local authorities said Monday. Two surfers noticed the actor and his daughter struggling in the water and jumped into action, as reported by ABC News. One of the surfers put Warner's daughter on his board and took her to safety, before a volunteer lifeguard also tried to help the actor. Volunteer lifeguard Mike Geist told AZ Family he and another surfer rushed in. The volunteers found Warner below the surface, near the ocean floor, Geist said. The surfer then pulled the actor to the surface and started rescue efforts. When Warner did not respond, they pulled him from the water and got additional help. 'There were two doctors that were also here just on vacation,' Geist said. 'Between the three of them, they were able to perform CPR for more than 30 minutes, probably more like 45 minutes, and unfortunately, it was not successful.' Costa Rica's Judicial Investigation Department said Warner drowned Sunday afternoon on a beach on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast. He was swimming at Playa Cocles in Limon province when a current pulled him deeper into the ocean. Local officials ruled Warner's cause of death as asphyxiation by submersion. Following Warner's shock death, lifeguards from Playa Grande — a beach community located on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica — released a statement saying they were not present due to lack of 'resources.' 'We deeply regret the passing of Malcolm-Jamal Warner at Playa Grande. He was swept away by a strong rip current and died by drowning,' the Caribbean Guard, Costa Rica's volunteer lifeguard association, shared via Facebook on Monday. 'It all happened very quickly, and although there were people on the beach who entered the water to rescue him, they did not arrive in time.' 'He was pulled from underwater without vital signs, and despite CPR maneuvers being performed on the beach, resuscitation was unsuccessful.' The Guard added that Playa Grande is one of their 'most challenging beaches,' noting the presence of signs in English and Spanish that warn of the 'danger of death due to drowning.' Warner worked for more than 40 years as an actor and director, also starring in the sitcoms Malcolm & Eddie and Read Between the Lines, and in the medical drama The Resident. His final credits came in TV guest roles, including a dramatic four-episode arc last year on the network procedural 9-1-1, where he played a nurse who was a long-term survivor of a terrible fire. Warner played Theo Huxtable for eight seasons, appearing in each of the 197 episodes of The Cosby Show and earning an Emmy nomination for supporting actor in a comedy in 1986. The actor created many TV moments etched in the memories of Generation X children and their parents, including a pilot-episode argument with Cosby about grades and careers, and another episode where Theo tries in vain to hide his ear piercing from his dad. Theo was the only son among four daughters in the household of Cosby's Cliff Huxtable and Phylicia Rashad's Clair Huxtable on the NBC sitcom, and he would be one of the prime representations of American teenage life and Black boyhood on a show that was the most popular in America for much of its run from 1984 to 1992. Warner is survived by his wife and young daughter, born in 2017. Their identities have not been revealed.

Tragic story, hilarious blooper', 'Im sure the camera man waited for that', 'Thought it was a pretty buzzing piece of reporting', 'Probably the highlight of the #itvnews this year'. Sara was reporting live from the incident where a man was also left with serious injuries and rushed to hospital following the tragedy in the Drummeer Road area of Maguiresbridge in County Fermanagh. Police were called to the scene as it unfolded - with a top cop describing what his officers encountered as 'harrowing'. Three ambulances and an air ambulance were called to the scene at about 8.20am today, where a woman and one of the children were pronounced dead. An individual was airlifted by air ambulance to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast while another was taken to the South West Acute Hospital in Enniskillen. The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said on Wednesday afternoon that one of those taken to hospital - another child - had also since succumbed to their injuries. One of the children was a boy and the other a girl. Viewers shared the hilarious on-air gaffe on X, formerly known as Twitter , to poke fun at the light-hearted blooper Superintendent Robert McGowan, district commander for Fermanagh and Omagh, confirmed that all four individuals had suffered gunshot wounds and were from the same family. Their ages have not been released. He confirmed that a murder probe was underway, with detectives working 'at pace' to establish the full circumstances of the tragedy. A triple-murder and attempted suicide is being pursued as a line of inquiry. Police earlier said there was no danger posed to the wider public in the aftermath of the incident, which has shocked the rural community just a few miles north of the UK-Ireland border. 'Tragically, despite best medical efforts, two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Sadly, I can confirm that a third person has, this afternoon, passed away in hospital,' Supt McGowan said. 'A fourth person who was taken to hospital remains in a condition described as serious. 'All four had sustained gunshot wounds, and I can confirm that all four individuals are from the same household. 'I am keen to, first and foremost, express my sympathy to family members and loved ones who are today left in total shock, and who will inevitably be struggling to come to terms with their unimaginable loss.'
