Missing 5-year-old Pittsburgh-area boy with autism found dead
Malik Patterson was found dead just before 3 p.m. on Monday in McKeesport near Water Street, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office said. It was not immediately clear where he was found. No cause of death was listed.
In a post on Facebook, the City of McKeesport Police Department said the 5-year-old boy was last seen on Monday around 10 a.m. in the rear of the 13th building in Harrison Village. He had autism, police said. The department "canceled" its missing person alert for the boy around 3:35 p.m., according to the Facebook post.
No other information was released on Monday night.

Loved ones march through Camden, New Jersey, to remember woman killed by alleged drunken driver in Missouri
The community, friends and family marched through the streets of Camden, New Jersey, on Wednesday for 26-year-old Esiyah Dixon Waheed. They held a sign that read "standing in solidarity." Her family says she was killed by an alleged drunken driver while on a retreat in Missouri. They say she was a passenger in a car that was hit head-on. "She is the daughter that every mother would want," Mahasin Waheed-Parker, Esiyah's mother, said. "She had a meaning. She had a place. I keep on saying this man just took all of that away from me." Her mother says she is still waiting for answers about what happened in Missouri. "I just keep hearing my daughter's voice always saying, 'Mom, get up, you are strong,'" she said. "And I keep hearing her voice saying, 'Mom, don't let this man get away with this.' He stripped everything away from me." Esiyah Dixon Waheed's family says she is a graduate of Camden's Creative Arts High School and Wiley University in Texas. They say she was a shining star and a leader who was invested in her community. "Everywhere she went she laid a mark," Kameelah Waheed, Esiyah's aunt, said. "It's definitely a tragedy. Twenty-six years old and had so much going for herself, so much planned for the future, and to be taken from us from someone so reckless, it's a sad moment." While family leans on one another, they say the support means everything to them.

Volunteer fire company in Shaler suspends 5 members amid investigation
Five firefighters with the Undercliff Volunteer Fire Company have been suspended as the company investigates whether they responded to a call under the influence of alcohol. KDKA has confirmed five members of the volunteer fire company in Shaler Township have been accused of being under the influence while responding to a call on East Genessee Street on Aug. 2. An Allegheny County Emergency Services spokesperson said someone reported smelling smoke in a home, but it ended up being a false alarm. A concerned citizen filed a complaint with the township, leading to the internal investigation. Sources told KDKA the firefighters may have been drinking at a nearby bar, and at least one firefighter may be in a leadership role. The Undercliff Volunteer Fire Company said in a statement on Wednesday: "We are aware of the allegations made against five members regarding a response to a recent emergency call. The allegations are under internal investigation. As a matter of procedure, all five members have been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. We are taking this matter very seriously and will follow our internal disciplinary review process. Our commitment to providing exceptional fire and rescue services to our community remains steadfast, and the men and women of this department will continue to serve our community with dedication, honor, and pride." No complaint has been filed with the police, but KDKA has learned the Shaler Township Police Department is reviewing body camera footage from the call. "The Township does not have governance over volunteer fire companies and can only set stipulations regarding authorized drivers of fire company vehicles as the Township provides insurance coverage for the majority of the fire vehicles," said Judith Kording, Shaler Township's manager. "The Township's main concern is the safety of our residents and all volunteer firefighters." One resident said a resolution needs to come soon. "They should be suspended if they were under the influence, but I would say the investigation should happen quickly because we need them," resident Susan Sines said. The township manager said there is a special company meeting on Aug. 19 to address the issue. All members have to vote on the matter. That's where they can decide on any discipline, including termination. The meeting is not open to the public.

Immigrant from Guinea is at least 3rd NYC public school student detained by ICE this year
City leaders are expected to rally Thursday in Lower Manhattan to demand the release of another New York City public school student who was detained by United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The student, a 20-year-old immigrant from Guinea known as Mouctar, is now in ICE custody at a Pennsylvania correctional facility. Mouctar attends Brooklyn Frontiers High School, a transfer school "serving students who are over-age and under-credited," according to its website. City officials say he was detained by ICE following a routine immigration court appearance in Lower Manhattan. "This is sending a really horrible message to everyone who's trying to do things the right way," said Murad Awawdeh, president and CEO of the New York Immigration Coalition. Mouctar is at least the third New York City public school student detained by ICE so far this year, including 19-year-old Derlis, who was released in July after a month in custody, and 20-year-old Dylan, who has been detained since May. Schools Chancellor Melissa Aviles-Ramos says her "team is standing with the student's family, working closely to connect them with legal support and other critical services." CBS News New York reached out to the Department of Homeland Security about Mouctar's case and is still awaiting a response. At a town hall in Queens on Tuesday, immigrant students shared their fears about the Trump administration's deportation policies. "I have started missing several days of school because I was so afraid," one student said. "I understand the value of school, but worrying about homework is difficult when you're afraid of losing your family." Because New York is a sanctuary city, ICE agents are not permitted on public school property without a court order, subpoena or warrant signed by a judge. With the first day of school right around the corner, the city's education department is trying to assure parents and students that their classrooms are safe. "New York City is ready to support our immigrant families as we enter a new school year," said Manuel Castro, commissioner for the New York City Mayor's Office of Immigrant Affairs. The Department of Education says it is training staff and nonprofit partners on protocol for following the city's sanctuary laws. "That everybody knows how to protect families, how to get the right information out, and that it's consistent across the board," said Jess Dannhauser, commissioner of the Administration for Children's Maldonado contributed to this report.
