Michigan football spirals after explosive NCAA decision adds extra ban on Sherrone Moore and ends postseason revenue share
Sherrone Moore has received an additional one-game suspension after the National Collegiate Athletic Association announced its final ruling on the Michigan football sign-stealing scandal.
The decision was released on Friday, August 15, 2025, following a long investigation into impermissible scouting that took place from 2021 to 2023. The NCAA said there was 'overwhelming evidence' against the program. Officials added that they did not apply a multiyear postseason ban to avoid punishing current student-athletes who were not involved.

The NCAA ruled that Sherrone Moore will be suspended for one additional game at the start of the 2026–27 season.
He had already received a two-game suspension for the 2025–26 season from the University of Michigan.
He will remain allowed to coach and take part in football activities during the show-cause order, except for the three suspended games.
Michigan football has been placed on four years of probation. The NCAA also hit the program with major financial penalties.
These include a $50,000 fine and a 10 per cent deduction from the program's full budget.

Michigan will face an additional penalty equal to 10 percent of football scholarships in the 2025–26 academic year.

NCAA spokesperson Megan Durham said Friday in an official release that the committee believed the violations were 'serious and intentional.' The NCAA will hold its own press conference on Friday at 1 p.m.

Nursing student found dead in Singur
1 2 Singur/Kalyani: Tension prevailed in Serampore and Singur following the unnatural death of nursing student Dipali Jana, aged 24, inside a room of a nursing home in Singur late on Thursday night. The nursing home authority informed Singur PS that the girl came from Nandigram for an internship certificate in nursing. Cops suspect that a quarrel with her boyfriend led to the suicide. On Saturday noon, Singur police arrested the nursing home owner and the boyfriend of the student on an abetment charge. The Singur police recovered the hanging body from the room, which was locked from the inside, on Thursday. Cops sent the body to Serampore Walls Hospital for an autopsy. However, after the situation turned politically volatile when BJP and CPM workers joined to support the parents, Sukumar and Maya, in their allegation that someone killed their daughter, the hospital officials sent the body to Medical College and Hospital.
