Eva Mendes Praises 'My Man' Ryan Gosling for Helping Campaign for Best Stunt Design Oscar

Yahoo12-04-2025
Eva Mendes is praising her husband, Ryan Gosling, for his contributions to getting stunts recognized by the Oscars.
This came one day after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced it had established a stunt design Oscar, which would start in 2028. David Leitch, director of The Fall Guy starring Gosling and Emily Blunt, played a big role in pushing for the new category, in addition to stunt coordinator and designer Chris O'Hara.

Mendes took to her Instagram on Friday, writing, 'My man is the F best! Unfortunately, success is almost only measured by box office. So I'm extra proud of my man for turning his entire Fall Guy press tour into a campaign to get stunts recognized by the Oscars. And now after Almost 100 years of stunt design not being acknowledged by the Academy, it's officially a category!! This is a HUGE success! And an achievement that will last. Congratulations to the incredible stunt community!!'

She also shared photos of Gosling and Leitch standing next to Seth Phillip, the creator behind the dudewithsign social media account, holding a sign that read, 'Give stunts an Oscar.' The Barbie actor previously collaborated with Phillip's last April for The Fall Guy promo, holding a sign that read, 'Filling In As Dudewithsign's Stunt Double.'
The actress and author concluded her post by shouting out Blunt, 'BTW, this is the last time I post a pic of my man and the total babe that is Emily Blunt. No más!'
Gosling and Mendes met while filming 2012's The Place Beyond the Pines. While she stepped away from Hollywood more than 10 years ago to focus on raising their two daughters and other career endeavors, she's continued to publicly support her husband despite their private relationship. Last year, she praised Gosling's 'I'm Just Ken' performance at the 2024 Oscars and his Cuban wife sketch on Saturday Night Live.

Sharon Stone Reveals Why She Was 'Furious' With 'Casino' Co-Star Robert De Niro originally appeared on Parade. Sharon Stone has worked with several iconic actors over the years, and she recently looked back on filming Casino with Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. "Joey really, really fought for me to be seen and get the job. So I have a serious loyalty to Joey because he's always backed me," Stone, 67, told Business Insider about Pesci, 82. "It was always Joey and Jimmy Caan. They backed me since I was 19." When it came to working with De Niro, 81, Stone said that she "always wanted to work with" him. However, the opportunity didn't present itself until the 1995 film. "I had auditioned with him many times before Casino. It was my dream to work with De Niro and hold my own," she said. Stone was eventually cast as the glamorous and self-involved Ginger McKenna in the Martin Scorsese-directed film, in which her character caught the eye of DeNiro's Sam 'Ace' Rothstein. "There's a scene in the movie where we're sitting across a table arguing, and he says to me, 'You're a good actress, you know that?'" she recalled. "And I remember in that scene when he said it, how furious it made me because it was my dream to do it, and then he challenged me at the table." "I remember thinking, 'Oh, buddy. Not today, pal,'" Stone recalled. "He knew every button to go for with me because he is the greatest observational actor. He can crawl under your skin and get in there." Stone certainly proved that she's a capable actor in the role, and she even earned a Best Actress Oscar nomination at the 1996 Academy Awards. Big-Name Actor Says Donald Trump Asked Her Out On Day Her Divorce Was Finalized

Two-time Oscar-winner Emma Thompson wasn't feeling anything near love actually when Donald Trump asked her out to dinner back in the day. The Howards End star said Saturday at the Locarno Film Festival that Trump called her in her trailer while she was filming the 1998 political movie Primary Colors. It was also the day her divorce from actor Kenneth Branagh was finalized. 'He said, 'Hello, this is Donald Trump.' I thought it was a joke and asked: 'How can I help you?' Maybe he needed directions from someone. Then he said: 'I'd love you to come and stay at one of my beautiful places. Maybe we could have dinner,'' she told the audience, per the Telegraph. 'I said: 'Well, that's very sweet. Thank you so much. I'll get back to you.'' Thompson, who received a career award and premiered her latest movie at the festival, The Dead of Winter, concluded Trump was 'stalking' her. 'I realized that on that day, my divorce, my divorce decree, you know, the final papers of my divorce had come through,' she said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. 'And I thought, I bet he's got people looking for suitable people he could take out on his arm, you know, a nice divorcee. That's what he was looking for, and he found the number in my trailer. I mean, that's stalking!' While she may have shown sense and sensibility in rejecting Trump, who's had a troubling history with women, she comically saw a lost opportunity. 'I could have gone on a date with Donald Trump, and then I would have a story to tell,' she said. 'I could have changed the course of American history.' Thompson has told the story before, leaving one to wonder again what having an actual British dame as the U.S. first lady could have been like. HuffPost reached out to the White House for comment.
