Other acts confirmed to perform at the show include Bastille, Cat Burns, Greentea Peng, Hot Chip, James Blake, King Krule, Mabel, Obongjayar, Paloma Faith, Rachel Chinouriri and Sampha alongside Palestinian artists such as Adnan Joubran, Faraj Suleiman and Nai Barghouti, with more performers to be announced in the coming weeks. PinkPantheress, Rina Sawayama and Riz Ahmed are also slated to contribute with an appearance. More names are set to be revealed in the coming weeks.
Eno will serve as executive producer for the evening along with production managers Khaled Ziada, Khalid Abdalla and Tracey Seaward. 'In the face of the horrors of Gaza, silence becomes complicity. Artists have always helped societies to point out injustice and imagine better futures,' he said in a statement. 'That's why this concert matters. It's time for us to come together – not just to raise our voices, but to reaffirm our shared humanity.'
Ziada added, 'In a world where governments and mainstream media have fallen silent in the face of genocide, this gathering becomes a chorus of resistance – where artists and communities come together to grieve, to rage and to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Palestinian people, and with all those who suffer injustice.'
Upon announcing the event July 31, Eno posted a lengthy statement to Instagram that discussed his intentions behind launching Together for Palestine.
'What we are witnessing in Gaza isn't a mystery, and neither is it a blur of competing narratives making it 'hard to understand',' it read in part. 'When dozens of non-partisan organisations like Amnesty International and Doctors Without Borders describe it as genocide, the moral line is clear. We can't remain silent. Which is why I'm helping to organise Together for Palestine – a night of music, reflection and hope at Wembley Arena.'
He added: 'My sincere belief is that this evening can become a moment of courage where artists come together to speak the truth in their hearts – which is what we trust artists to do. Whether on stage or by video from around the world, this is a chance for us to stand together and say: this can't continue.'
The war was sparked by the Oct. 7, 2023, attacks, during which more than 1,200 Israeli civilians were killed by Hamas fighters, who also took more than 250 hostages. Since then, Gaza's Health Ministry has reported that more than 60,000 Palestinians have been killed. In late July, the World Health Organization reported that malnutrition rates among civilians and children have reached alarming levels.
Eno formed part of a group of musicians in July who announced the formation of a syndicate for artists speaking out about Israel's military assault on Gaza, who they say have been subjected to 'aggressive, vexatious campaigns' by pro-Israel advocates. Other names involved include Fontaines D.C., Kneecap and Massive Attack.
Posting on Instagram, the artists said their aim was to protect other artists, particularly those at early stages of their careers, from being 'threatened into silence or career cancellation' by organizations such as U.K. Lawyers for Israel (UKLFI).

Doechii declares support for Palestine during Outside Lands debut
Doechii 's highly-anticipated Outside Lands set took a political turn when the artist responded to fans waving Palestinian flags on the first day of the San Francisco music festival. 'Free Palestine! What the f— is y'all talking about?' the Grammy-winner yelled out to the sea of tens of thousands of fans that flooded Golden Gate Park's Polo Field on Friday, Aug. 8, between rapping 'Boom Bap.' 'More peace y'all,' she added. 'No more.' It was quite the statement to end on for the Florida rapper's Outside Lands debut. Several fans in the audience were shown on the Jumbotron waving the flags throughout Doechii's 45 minute-long set, which warmed up the crowd for Friday's headliner, Doja Cat. The 'Denial is a River' hitmaker has voiced support for Palestine on several occasions before, most recently during Osheaga in Montreal, Canada this month. Prior to Outside Lands, Doechii performed two sold-out concerts in the Bay Area in November at the Independent in San Francisco and at Oakland's New Parish. She has experienced a meteoric rise to superstardom following the success of her 2024 EP 'Alligator Bites Never Heal' and her breakout song 'Anxiety,' which samples Gotye and Kimbra's 2011 hit, 'Somebody That I Used to Know.' Doechii is already planning her return to San Francisco. Presale tickets for her Nov. 7 show at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium went on sale Friday morning.

Hopes new Ed Sheeran music video can bring tourists to Suffolk town
There are hopes that Ed Sheeran's new music video will provide a boost to Bury St Edmunds and Suffolk. Various locations around the west Suffolk town feature in the singer's video for his song 'A Little More', which was released on Thursday. Hengrave Hall is one of the sites which plays a prominent part, as well as All Saints Hotel in Fornham St Genevieve, Fitta Bodies Gym, the British Sugar factory and St Mary's Church. David Harris is hoping the music video can bring a boost to the area (Image: Newsquest) David Harris, of Hengrave Hall, praised Sheeran for how he helps to promote Suffolk to his millions of followers. "The platform that it gives to Bury is huge, and I think Ed Sheeran does a lot to promote Suffolk as a county," said Mr Harris. "We are very lucky to have a world superstar to have in Suffolk that does put so much back into the county. How many visitors will come to Bury that would not before?" Mr Harris believes it will make a "huge difference" for the amount of people that visit Suffolk. He praised his team for how they dealt with the filming, which took around one week, stating they "pull together to deliver the very best". Harry Potter star Rupert Grint plays a prominent role in the video, which racked up more than one million views in 24 hours. Screen Suffolk helped facilitate the filming around the town. A spokesperson for the company said: "As the official film office for the county, Screen Suffolk were delighted to facilitate filming across West Suffolk and in Ipswich. "It's so great to see Bury St Edmunds featured so recognisably in this brilliant video." Both Sheeran and Mr Grint were spotted at alongside each other earlier this year, as Ipswich Town lost 1-0 to Tottenham.

Netflix Has A New Political Thriller On The Way For Fans Of The Diplomat
Heads up for anyone who's been craving more of the particular brand of political maneuvering and high-stakes drama that Netflix series like "The Diplomat" have built some can't-miss storytelling around: The streaming giant has a brand new series coming in August that definitely belongs on your watchlist if you're a fan of shows like Keri Russell's acclaimed thriller. It's "Hostage," premiering on August 21, and it's all about the impossible choices that confront world leaders who find themselves forced to juggle politics with their own behind-the-scenes messes. The new show follows a British prime minister (played by Suranne Jones) whose husband is kidnapped during a state visit. Her rival, the visiting French president, is also blackmailed, twin calamities that force the two leaders to work together as their futures and lives are both at risk. The series comes from Matt Charman, the writer of "Bridge of Spies" and creator of "Treason." And for all of those reasons, including the fantastic cast that includes Julie Delpy as the French leader, it seems to me that "Hostage" is already looking like the kind of series that will have political thriller fans like me glued to the screen. "I've been dying to find the right story to tell with Suranne, and I honestly believe what she's done with this character is going to blow the Netflix audience away," Charman said in an interview with Netflix's Tudum. "An embattled British PM in the middle of a fight for her country and her family — she's fierce, ruthless, and you can't take your eyes off of her." A Showdown At The Highest Level Of Power "Hostage" opens with the French president's visit to London, a bit of diplomatic pageantry that gets derailed when the British prime minister's husband is abducted. The blackmailing of the French head of state soon forces both leaders into a shaky alliance, one wherein every decision they make not only has political but personal, life-and-death ramifications. Jones commands the screen as a leader forced to balance duty with her personal desperation, while Delpy, Corey Mylchreest, and an impressive supporting cast bring their own depth to the burgeoning international crisis. There's an especially chilling moment in the trailer when one of the hostages asks a masked terrorist to have mercy on them because they have families. To which the terrorist coldly replies: "So did I." Adds Jones, in her own Tudum interview about the British leader in "Hostage": "She is put in such extreme circumstances, and we see that when push comes to shove she puts her country over her family. The original, working title for the series was 'The Choice,' and that's why." Read the original article on BGR. Solve the daily Crossword
