'On behalf of the USA Basketball Women's Junior National Committee, I am proud to announce a talented group of 21 athletes who will compete for their place on the 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team,' said Cori Close, USA Basketball Women's Junior National Team Committee chair. 'About half of these young women have already claimed a gold medal with USA Basketball, so they bring great international experience with them. They are sure to be fierce competitors at trials. We look forward to choosing the group who will best represent the U.S. at the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup.'
Stuelke is one of seven participants making their USA Basketball debuts.
Kara Lawson (Duke) will serve as head coach, with assistant coaches DeLisha Milton-Jones (Old Dominion University) and Jennie Baranczyk (Oklahoma). At trials, court coaches Jim Flanery (Creighton University) and Robyn Fralick (Michigan State) will assist.

Spartans Win Big Ten Recruiting Battle Over Iowa With 3-Star EDGE Cory House

Spartans Win Big Ten Recruiting Battle Over Iowa With 3-Star EDGE Cory House originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After visiting Michigan State on May 30 and Iowa on June 5, the Spartans picked up edge Cory House as their 10th 2026 recruit. The 3-star and No. 68 edge recruit in the country from Memphis, TN, declared his commitment on June 10. Rush ends coach Chad Wilts, who ultimately was credited as the primary recruiter, first gave House an offer back in February. However, the 6'5, 240-pound edge was wanted at 28 schools across the country, including 12 power conference schools. Advertisement Initially, House intended to visit Indiana and North Carolina as well. Ole Miss was also a contender for the Whitehaven High School edge. Michigan State head coach Jonathan Smith looks on during practiceNick King/Lansing State Journal/USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Before the official visit season started, the Spartans had only four class of 2026 recruits all on the offensive side of the ball: quarterback Kayd Coffman, tight end Joey Caudill, tight end Eddie Whiting, and offensive tackle Eli Bickel. House now marks Michigan State's sixth consecutive defensive addition for the class of 2026 alongside safety Brayden Thomas, cornerback K.J. Deriso, safety Elijah Caldwell-Hardy, linebacker Braylon Hodge, and defensive tackle Chris Knauls. Advertisement Thomas, Deriso, and Hodge were also part of the first group of visitors. Thomas first committed to Iowa State on February 1. On May 31, one day after his official visit, the Ohio native hinted at flipping his decision before verbally committing to Michigan State on June 2. Despite upping the numbers, the Spartans are still pulling together more of a lackluster recruitment class with No. 295 overall Coffman being the only commit in the top 550 overall. Currently Michigan State's recruitment is ranked 44th in the country, falling well behind its Big Ten rivals in the top 20 overall: USC (No. 1), Ohio State (No. 2), Penn State (No. 5), Rutgers (No. 9), Illinois (No. 12), UCLA (No. 14), Minnesota (No. 18), and Washington (No. 20). While the Spartans bumped from No. 57 to No. 44, being on the weaker end of recruitment will force head coach Jonathan Smith to rely on returners making leaps heading into his second year if he's unable to secure high-end recruits. Iowa baseball reveals 2026 Big Ten schedule

Iowa baseball reveals 2026 Big Ten schedule As Iowa baseball continues its long and winding offseason, the program announced its Big Ten schedule for the upcoming 2025-26 campaign, which includes some familiar foes and a few new opponents. Headlining next season's conference schedule are two consecutive road series to open up the slate of games, with the Hawkeyes traveling to State College, Penn., for a three-game series March 13-15 vs. Penn State and then visiting East Lansing, Mich., for another three-game set March 20-22, against Michigan State. Following the two road trips, Iowa returns to Duane Banks Field for two consecutive series, with the first being against 2025 College World Series-bound UCLA from March 27-29 and the second against Minnesota from April 3-5. For the Bruins, it will be the first time the storied program has traveled to Iowa City and the first three-game series between the two. Last season's Big Ten Tournament Semifinal between the Hawkeyes and Bruins was the first-ever meeting between both programs, with UCLA winning 9-3. After the Minnesota series, the Hawkeyes' Big Ten schedule alternates between home and away series for the remainder of the season. Iowa's remaining series on the road will be vs. USC (April 10-12), vs. Indiana (April 24-26), and Nebraska (May 8-10). Of note in those road series is the trip to Los Angeles, Calif., vs. USC, which will be the Hawkeyes' sixth-ever game against the Trojans (USC holds a 3-2 all-time series lead). Conversely, the remaining Hawkeyes' home series will be vs. Maryland (April 17-19), vs. Illinois (May 1-3), and vs. Purdue (May 14-16). While Iowa's conference strength of schedule is yet to be determined, seven of the ten opponents the Hawkeyes face next year made the 2025 Big Ten Tournament, and three qualified for the NCAA Tournament. With the full 2026 slate still in the works, including non-conference dates and opponents, the complete schedule will be released at a later date. What is EuroBasket, and what does the tournament mean for the Valkyries?

As soon as the Golden State Valkyries assembled their first roster, they also had to prepare for this stretch of the WNBA season. That's because EuroBasket, the biennial women's basketball tournament, is about to begin. Four Valkyries players – Julie Vanloo (Belgium), Janelle Salaün (France), Temi Fagbenle (United Kingdom) and Cecilia Zandalasini (Italy) – are headed to Europe to play for their national teams over the next few weeks. Their departures will disrupt a team that has been playing together for just over a month. Here is what to know about EuroBasket from a Valkyries perspective, from the impact on their season to what their players might be able to achieve abroad. What is EuroBasket? Women's EuroBasket is a 16-team European women's basketball tournament used as a qualifier for the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup, which in turn will serve as the qualifying tournament for the 2028 Summer Olympics. (There is also a men's EuroBasket, that will be played in August and September, involving 24 teams.) 'It means so much to represent your country,' Zandalasini said. 'We prepare so much for it. It's something I would never miss.' France, Spain, Serbia and Belgium (the defending EuroBasket champions) are in the top 10 in FIBA's women's international rankings. Those four teams are the favorites in this year's tournament. Group play games will be held in four countries: Czechia, Germany, Italy and Greece. The top finisher earns automatic qualification for the World Cup, and the teams who finish second through fifth advance to additional World Cup qualifying tournaments. This is the 40th edition of the tournament. How does this affect the Valkyries? Zandalasini missed Monday's tilt against the Sparks and could be out for up to eight more games. Vanloo announced her departure on Tuesday. Salaün and Fagbenle are expected to leave before Saturday's game against Seattle. If their national teams advance deep into the tournament, the players could miss games through July 5. Players must return around 48 hours after their nation loses or wins it all. Being knocked out in the Group Stage would be sometime shortly after June 21-22, and in the Knockout Stage would be after June 29. 'We have a plan,' said head coach Natalie Nakase. 'It's the same as the Expansion Draft; we have to be ready. We watch film, we've already had conversations about when we need people and things like that. We want them to go with their heart. We want them to choose whatever, and we're supporting them.' During the four players' absences, the Valkyries will be allowed to sign two players to hardship contracts since they have just nine players on the active roster. Because they have so much cap space ($350,317), they can sign players to regular deals and keep them for as long as the absent players are temporarily suspended. As for who will see expanded playing time during that quartet's absence, Carla Leite will see more minutes in the backcourt, with how many more depending in part on Tiffany Hayes ' recovery from her nose injury. Forwards Monique Billings and Steph Talbot will also see more playing time in the frontcourt. Some opposing players will also be absent during the Valkyries' June stretch, such as Dallas centers Teaira McCowan and Luisa Geiselsöder and New York forwards Leonie Fiebich and Nyara Sabally. 'It's not an easy decision to make,' Vanloo said. 'You have to think about a lot of things, and it is tough to go back and forth. It's not easy for (the Valkyries) that we leave for EuroBasket, but I think they understand and we're on the same page.' Why are WNBA players allowed to leave their teams midseason? The WNBA has prioritization rules that require players with three or more years of WNBA experience to stay with their WNBA club until two weeks before their international team plays and return 48 hours after. If a player leaves sooner and returns later, they can be suspended for the season. Those WNBA prioritization rules restrict players from leaving for an international club team midseason, but the Collective Bargaining Agreement makes an exception for FIBA competition. The Valkyries will temporarily suspend their four players since they are all part of their regular rotation and wouldn't want to risk losing them. Some teams, like Phoenix, Minnesota and Connecticut have opted to waive EuroBasket-bound players instead of temporarily suspending their contracts when they depart. What to watch The four Valkyries players are in different brackets. France is in Group A, Italy is in Group B, Belgium is in Group C, and Fagbenle's U.K. is in Group D. Following the round-robin group stage, the top team in each of the four brackets will advance to the knockout stage. In addition to the four rostered Valkyries players participating this year, Juste Jocyte, their 2025 first-round pick, will play for Lithuania, and expansion draft pick Iliana Rupert will play with Salaün on the French national team. Rupert is expected to join the Valkyries sometime after the tournament. Jocyte's Lithuania will face Zandalasini's Italy in the Group C opener. That game, and all others, will be available to watch live in the U.S. on a website called Courtside 1891.
