570 new govt schools to be set up in Telangana, says chief minister Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Chief minister A
Revanth Reddy
on Thursday announced that 570 new govt schools will be established across Telangana—both in rural and urban areas—where no such facility currently exists.
Each school will be set up in locations with a minimum enrolment potential of 20 students, he said.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with education department officials at the command control centre, the chief minister noted a significant rise in demand for residential educational institutions. This surge, he said, is driven by the govt's provision of free quality food, uniforms, textbooks, and a conducive learning environment.
He directed officials to study the feasibility of extending similar benefits to day scholars in regular govt schools, to bridge the gap in infrastructure and quality.
"The govt's core objective is to raise educational standards across all public schools and colleges. Every initiative must align with our commitment to delivering quality education," Revanth stressed. He instructed officials to rationalise enrolment across institutions run by the SC, ST, BC, and minority welfare departments, ensuring each school maintains an optimal number of students.

Revanth also emphasised the need to counsel students on the importance of family, society, and civic responsibility. "Not a single child should be left behind. We must ensure universal enrolment," he said, urging officials to intensify their outreach efforts.
He further underlined the need to enhance teaching standards and introduce reforms that incorporate skill development alongside academic learning, particularly in language proficiency and communication skills.
"Skill training should begin at the high school level itself, giving students the tools to succeed in their chosen fields," he said.
With Telangana undergoing rapid urbanisation, the chief minister instructed education and municipal administration departments to identify suitable land in HMDA and municipal layouts designated for social infrastructure to establish new schools in growing urban pockets.
Holding the education portfolio himself, CM Revanth reiterated that education and health remain top priorities of the Congress govt.

Trump's $45 million birthday parade turns into a drowsy disaster
What was intended to be a dazzling show of patriotism and power turned into an unexpectedly awkward affair, as President Donald Trump appeared to doze off during his own $45 million birthday bash. The event, held on June 14, was meant to mark both Trump's 79th birthday and the U.S. Army's 250th anniversary, featuring a grand military parade through Washington, D.C. Around 7,000 troops, 150 military vehicles (including Abrams and Sherman tanks), and 50 aircraft filled the route from the Pentagon to the National Mall. The scale echoed Trump's admiration for France's Bastille Day parade, which he witnessed in 2017. But despite the grandeur, the spotlight shifted quickly—from the military spectacle to the birthday boy himself. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Play War Thunder now for free War Thunder Play Now Undo Trump Looks Bored, Possibly Nods Off Footage and photos from the event showed Trump appearing disengaged and visibly uninterested. At one point, many online observers believed he may have fallen asleep mid-parade, sparking a wave of memes and mockery across social media. 'It's your birthday. It's Saturday night. But you threw yourself a $45 million parade and got bored halfway through,' one viral post joked. Live Events Trump's lack of enthusiasm stood in stark contrast to the scale and symbolism of the event, which was tightly secured with an 18-mile perimeter and drone surveillance as part of the U.S. Semiquincentennial celebrations. Critics Slam the Cost and Optics Beyond the President's demeanor, the event drew fire for its hefty price tag, especially in light of ongoing budget concerns. The absence of bipartisan leadership only fueled perceptions that the parade was more of a personal vanity project than a national celebration. Adding fuel to the fire, xAI's Grok chatbot speculated that Trump's sour mood could have been influenced by "No Kings" protests happening nationwide, bad weather, or even undisclosed personal matters. Reactions: Laughter, Outrage, and Memes Following the disastrous event, many took to social media to poke fun at the US president. Here are some of the funniest tweets: — RpsAgainstTrump (@RpsAgainstTrump) — cwebbonline (@cwebbonline) — harryjsisson (@harryjsisson) — mjfree (@mjfree) Whether he actually nodded off or not, the incident has already cemented itself as a bizarre moment in presidential birthday history—one that critics say perfectly captures the disconnect between spectacle and substance. As the dust settles from the spectacle, one thing is clear: $45 million can buy tanks, jets, and flags—but not enthusiasm.
